Rare BTS non fan here. Despite listening to BTS, I still prefer the other groups in Kpop and some rock bands in the United States. I view music as how well it fits in the background of an epic fight scene, montage, or 80's scene.

I honestly did not pay attention to the number or how each member promoted their song. I was an Army already so I would listen to them all. And my only thought when each song/album drop was 'That suits them' or 'That's so XYZ'. They all showed their personal taste in music and the path they want to take for their solo career. My only 'surprise' was JHope's colab with JCole. The man really break the KPop bubble and is 'accepted and respected' by the Hip hop community. You can actually see so many people listening for JHope (BTS) for the first time after Jack in the box or that colab.

so that was why. for so long ive always been wondering why the top songs on the charts were not even singable haha. i am a gen x and after the 90's i gradually stopped listening to music. my excitement was back when i stumbled on run bts 18 and the rest is history.

I would also like to add that I don't see why they would give up their place at Hybe/Big Hit knowing that they have worked tirelessly for more than 10 years... (I'm also talking about the trainee years) Knowing also that since their beginnings they are not respected, are mistreated, belittled, ridiculed, sabotaged... How could they trust other people and why would they give up everything their built after all these years ??? I feel like many demonize Hybe and/or Bang PD but they forget that some members spent half their lives by his side so if he was that horrible they would have left by now. He also bet everything on 7 young boys who were already losing according to fans and other groups... Some people can't see beyond the end of their nose... (I'm sorry if you've already mentioned these things. I've a bad short time memory) We should be happy for them and wish them the best for everything in their lives! I want them happy and healthy, I want them with us until the end. Even when I'll be 70, I'll dance and sing "did you see my bag?", "click, click, bang, bang! we just sing it like", "ooooh ooh oh, we were only seven", "fiiiiiiiiire! Fiiiiiiiiire oh hey oh!", "everybody say no" ... Okay I'm little over dramatic rn but I'm just excited and at the same time I'm very emotional! It's hard! 💜

I don't play games or watch LOL championships, but I know Faker. I don't watch KDrama or Korean films/movies but I know Paradise and Bong Joon-ho. I am not a fan of any soccer club or watch soccer games usually but I know Son Heung-nim. But I only have heard of Jay Park name because I listen to Korean music and am a fan of BTS. Now that's the real Elite 4.

I was personally in so much denial when I fist found my self looking for more BTS contents. I had never been interested in KPop (I'm South East Asian, all my friends at some points are fan of Gen 2 Idols, so I know KPop before I know BTS), and think that the who industry is BS and based on 'pretty faces performing other people's music'. I don't consider myself the '15-year-old fan girl' since I was in Uni that time. How can I like and become fan of a mainstream boy group? Then I started thinking about why I'm listening to their music, and why I want to know more about their story. Their messages in their music is what got me, and I think of them as singers not idols. And then their dances, their music videos, their performance make them different from all other singers I'm listening to. Yes, the fact that they're multitalented artists make them different from all others, and let them become my favorite, and best group in my opinion.

When I first herad about kpop it was through a friend and at the time I didn't know what the fuck kpop was and my introduction to that genre was bts and when I had heard on the news that one of their song boy with love was on billboards charts I was happy because without them I wouldn't even know about the skz or exo etc so yes bts did paved the way no matter how you down play its still true

Saw that the BBC "Burning Sun" documentary came out, I haven't brought myself to watch it yet but will when I'm prepared to. I don't know why but I thought of this video with the "kpop expert" who never mentions this at all in anything. Sure it's not the group itself involved but a member of the group, still never acknowledging it happened is insulting to the victims. But when you go on and on about how awesome Big Bang is but never go on to mention this scandal or the fact that the group isn't even together anymore as far as I can tell, 2 members officially left. It made me think they are living in the past and not connected to the current reality. And with this whole Min Heejin Ador situation that she is going after not just Hybe the company BTS built but BTS themselves with her shaman & her twisting narratives to manipulate kpop fans when there is legit documented evidence of her wrong doings it's crazy. What little patience I had left for the rest of kpop and kpop fans is spent at this point. I'm trying to channel that anger towards good use to support BTS more but I do need to vent ever once in a while and I'm tired of seeing people attack BTS for fabricated "scandals" when literal criminals get a pass, it's bonkers!

I didn't even know there was a "visual line", especially because everybody says that Jin is the visual... It's a bit discriminatory towards the others... I mean they're all handsome, they're all visuals. I'm more attracted by Jungkook, his personality makes him more beautiful (inside and outside) in my eyes but it doesn't mean I think the others are ugly ! Finally, we love them for them and their music, not because they're handsome. At least that's the case for me, I started to be a fan because I like their music and because I love them as they are and not for their appearance.

It's "funny" to see these companies wanting BTS to disappear but at the same time doing everything like them hoping to gain the same popularity as them. They make fun of them and belittle them from the start but don't hesitate to jump at the opportunity to copy them. You talk about trends but in the case of other companies, I'm talking about copying their concepts (that's my opinion)... It also makes me think of the video you made on "Next BTS", when the companies were trying to reproduce their looks, their MVs and their songs... They hate them and despise them but want their groups to look like them. To be honest, it annoys me. I can't see these as trends. It's not that other groups don't have the right to create their KZread channel or their Twitter account, it's just that it's not done in a genuine way. BTS struggled to make themselves known and gain visibility because others were trying to ridicule and sabotage them 24/7 and now they want to do the same thing as them... And other fandoms continue to denigrate and ridicule BTS, plus all the accusations for anything and everything. I can't understand why they don't want to leave them alone. It may sound dramatic but all I see is that from the start it's BTS x ARMY against the rest of the world.

I really don't get it when kpop stans are so obsessed with the word 'western validation' only when it comes to BTS! Let me tell you example! Bigbang is a 2nd gen kpop boy group under yg entertainment no hate to this group but if you look at their music videos, music style, discography they're HEAVILY WESTERNIZED! Like most of mvs were shot in America! Their outfits, concepts are mostly revolves around black music which is an American music genre! In another way only the language they sing in is Korean! Apart from the language all other factors are American! But it was hard for them to break down into US music market! And BTS dropped dynamite in 2020 as a gift for their fans who were in the middle of a pandemic! And it accidentally hit no.1 in US and become one of the biggest songs of the year as well in kpop! That's when kpop stans start to accuse BTS bcz they sing a song in English but trust me in this case only lyrics are English if you carefully look at dynamite everything about the video is so "kpop" the colours, dynamics, concept! But ppl accused them bcz they did bigbang failed to do even they tried hard to get through US! But I don't think someone from kpop ever will touch BTS's English trilogy in the near future! They're untouchable.

Not hate to other groups or fandoms but sometimes kpop fans trying hard to prove that their favourite group has a theory for every music video makes me wanna bury my head in pillow out of cringe! Their favs really got no theory they're just blank videos with alot of visual effects but still fans trying to make their favs have a supreme artistic direction! 😭💀

Can we talk about the popularity of BT21 characters!!! They're so impactful to the fact that they're everywhere from very small stalls to big fashion malls! In my country I've visited so many places and I have a habbit of buying a key-tag including BT21 character!! And yes even non-fans buy them! It's like disney characters have their own fanbases!

And BTS also introduced disco sound to kpop! Afrer they released dynamite I noticed that alot of kpop groups and even soloists made songs with disco/retro sounds! It's something that had die down in kpop but when dynamite exploded worldwide others started to use that sound and colourful vibe to their songs and music videos! I've noticed it a lot after 2020!

I wouldn't hold it against anyone for mispronouncing Jungkook's name. I've hear Jungkook correct English speakers and I think what I hear him say is Junkgoo with a soft J. Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I have a name that only people who speak Spanish can pronounce correctly. I've had to explain to folks my entire life how to properly pronounce my name and I'm a senior citizen. So, we're talking decades. You just get use to it.

How boring would it be if you got the same present year after year. Come Back To Me was a surprise, but it reminds me on Mono, which I love.

Ohh my! Watching this again after the recent Hybe Vs Ador legal tussle is so surreal. Who would have thought that the words you spoke a year ago would resonate so much with what is currently happening in the comapany? Your anaylsis is/ was spot on! Ador CEO completely credits HERSELF to all of New Jeans success and doesn't value the girls' own talents or contributions at all. It's all about *Her* (Min Heejin) This was her dream and she brought it to life, from conception to execution; New Jeans is just a vessel she used to actualize her vision. They are her "property" Your explanation in the video brings this out so well. And to think this video is 12 months old, it's crazy!! You saw right through her (CEO) 😮
