I love to fish the canal on the Wigan waters, where abouts are you mate?
Blackburn/Accrington areas
Belting session, some stonking chub there! I know this stretch (and peg??) When the river drops away, it's worth looking at the faster water further upstream. Great video, mission very well explained and executed. I intend to try for a barbel on float here, probably insane idea, but banded pellet and lobworm!! ??😂 Take care, Dave 👍
Cheers David. Good stretch, lots to explore. Much appreciated 🎣😎👍
Great session👍 did a short session on the Weaver on lures, more of a recy than anything will have to try the Ribble soon looks very nice 👍 tight lines Mark
Cheers mate. Sounds good. Enjoying your videos 👍😎🎣
Some good fishing there for you eh mark,
Yes mate, I was lucky 👍🎣
You'll not forget that session in a hurry. Brilliant ending on light gear. Well done Mark👍
Cheers Mike, yeh, I was happy to see it in the net 😊
What a great session Mark. Some good healthy looking chub there. Idyllic peg and the rain showed us the changing environment throughout the day we deal with👍
Cheers Mike. It was a cracking day on the bank. Tight lines 🎣
Quality Chub in that stretch. Is it a club water or day ticket?
Cheers. Wigan club water mate
Exactly the same size as my pb! From the ribble at church deeps , a truly super fish ! Looked a young healthy fish to possibly grow on abit !
I must admit I was in shock when it surfaced 😊 Well done on your pb. Cracking fish. Cheers
@@000fishing on the ribble?
@@stephenhollinrake916yes,
New subscriber. I was a specimen barbel/Chub fisherman until I fell ill in 2021, unfortunately I have had to stop fishing. I appreciate your videos, it puts me right on the river. Great days fishing dear fellows, look forward to the next episode. 👍 PS from the west midlands..
Thank you very much, David. I’m sorry you’ve had to stop fishing. I’m glad that the videos help you in some way. More to come. Some stick float fishing is coming soon. Best wishes 🎣
Cracking stretch of river. The Ribble has some amazing stretches.
It certainly does. It’s a great river. Cheers
Nice video on the Ribble there Mark..I tend to mix my fishing sessions between the Lancaster Canal and the Ribble..some very nice early season chub on the flavoured meat there...Were you up at Samlesbury fisheries, near the Tickled Trout on the £6 day ticket stretch? 😊🎣
Hi Gary, They are two great locations :-) I was upstream on Wigan length cheers Gary
Good video, I've been thinking about trying a heli setup on the river, I would think there's pros and cons vs a running ledger. I suppose it depends on what you have confidence in. Also good shout with leading around, good to know if there are any big snags present also.
Cheers Rich. Yes, the heli rig is something that I've been using for a few years now and it's served me well. Caught all species on it. Thank you
Absolutely lovely session, beautiful fish and as always a great video, focusing on the joy of fishing.
Thank you very much 🎣😊
Thats mad, fished the ribble for first time today. I fished that exact swim this morning for an hour or so. Had no joy but caught a trout and a roach further upstream near bridge. Looking forward to getting back to try and catch some of those chub 👍
Good luck. Hope that you find them next time 🎣
Another nice video Not far from where I live, (Chorley).
Thank you John 🎣😊
Lovely session mate, enjoyed.
😊 thank you
Beautiful stretch of river and a good session of Chub🎣 Great filming and good advice as always. Thanks for sharing, Mark👏 Take care👍
Thank you mate, much appreciated 🎣
Where you fishing near the tickled trout hotel. It’s one of my favourite barbel spots.
Not far upstream from there. 🎣
Thats my favourite film so far. Well done. Superb fish. And an amazing film 😊
Cheers Gary 🎣😊
Great video Mark. Love the Ribble . What stretch is this, i can hear the motorway in the background?
Cheers, Wigan stretch mate 🎣😎
Good film, I didn't know Wigan had a stretch near the motorway, the only ribble in my book is elston 🤔👍
@@tdheaton306Elston, you could hear motorway because wind was blowing from that direction
Another great session mark love ur videos
Thanks very much 🎣😊
Great video and what a tench that was pal 🎣
Cheers pal
Walked past you early doors (raining) tench was a real result....see em sunbathing all along that stretch 🤩
Cheers Jimmy, blummin rain, hiding under my brolly. Say hello if you spot me another time. That's good to know.
Love a tench
Will be purchasing the Illustrated Canal Diaries and Fishing Log Book in the next few days Mark..I'm sure I can relate to the first book, the log book is a great idea to document everything from a session..Cheers Mark and keep up with the excellent videos..Tight lines! 🎣
That’s very kind of you. Thank you
Another good video, really love your content. So good to get a tench on the canal. We don’t get them on the lanky (or I don’t). It’s given me the inspiration to fish bread more often than I do too. Thanks
Many thanks, much appreciated. Yes, they seem a bit few and far between on Lanky. Used to catch them at the back of the M6 services, many years ago. I've only discovered them recently on the L&l canal. Happy surprise :-)
Cracking video and a great insight into Canal fishing.. Brings back great memories! Tight lines Paul.
Thank you very much, Paul 🎣😊
A really nice and for me interesting video - thanks for sharing! Fishing with bread punch is my go-to-method all over the year. For my local water - a slow moving, brackish river - I prefer larger „pellets” and larger hooks too. 8-11mm punches on a size 14 or 12 hook work really well here. Sometimes with a small bomb on a winklepicker-rod, with a feeder and liquidized bread in it or on a float rod. Even small roach or tiny silver bream will easily take a 8mm bread-disc on a size 14 hook. Not to mention the greedy bleak. Again, thanks for sharing and tight lines!
Thank you for commenting. I appreciate it. That’s interesting about the larger punch sizes/bigger hooks. I’ll try that, cheers. On my local rivers. I fill maggot feeders with liquidised bread and fish flake on hook for chub. It’s a great bait, isn’t it? Tight lines 🎣😎
Thank you for another cracking video,Mark🎣 Pretty sure I’ve cycled past that area and thought it was ‘ Tenchy ‘ . Bread punch is such a cheap effective bait . I’ve caught all sorts on it. Great catch of fish and the Tench was a beauty👍 Really enjoying these canal films👏👏
Thank you very much. I appreciate your comments. Definitely a great bait, cheap too. The tench was a pleasant surprise. Cheers David 🎣😊
Lovely relaxing video mate, bread is such an underrated bait... some lovely Roach n a beautiful bonus Tench there... I must get out on my local canals soon for a day.... your vids are brilliant to watch mate, keep em coming 👍🎣
Cheers mate. Bread is cheap, too. Your canal is definitely worth a try. Thank you. Loved your Anglesey vid 😎👍🎣
Hello mark I know that stretch very well. As I usually lure fish it for pike and perch. I also know that there have been tench caught along it upto 5lb. I only live 5 mins away in Clayton.
Hi Paul, it’s a good little area. Good to know tench that size are in there 😎🎣
Well done ur a brilliant angler
I’m just lucky. Tight lines thank you
@@000fishing same to u tight lines
Nice to see you put the tench straight back, not on top of the Roach like most people would do, I do the same as you, net for smaller fish and release the larger fish about 25 mtrs. away from the swim, you make a quality video so have subscribed and look forward to seeing your next video. Graham.
Thank you Graham, much appreciated . Next video is out next week, thanks for subscribing 👍🎣
More great content you’ve got to love canal fishing it’s such a challenge. Your vids are giving me the urge to go back to my roots of Lancaster canal fishing. Currently being spoilt fishing commercial venues fun but so well stocked not always the art of fishing. All the very best tight lines Pete 👍🎣
Thank you very much. That’s great to hear. The Lanky is a wonderful place to fish. I hope that you give it a go 🎣😊
Cracking tench. I love the films a lot 😊😊😊
Thank you mate 🎣😊 It was a nice surprise
Nice video Mark..I do a lot of punch fishing on my local Lancaster Canal and your net was similar to the catches I make there..topped off by that cracking tench in immaculate condition.. that made for an extra special day in beautiful, tranquil surroundings.. Keep up with the great videos, always a pleasure to watch.. Tight lines! 👏🙂🎣
Many thanks Gary. Much appreciated. Tight lines. 🎣😎👍
The Drennan Visi Wag 2 all take 5 number 8 shot , so you can change from a heavier to a lighter float or vice versa to suit conditions without having to alter the shot .
Cheers John 👍🎣
Good days fishing for you mate, nice tench and the end. Bet there were some more feeding if you could of stopped a bit longer eh mark
Cheers Paul, yes, I’m sure there were more in the area. I’ll try for them another time 😊🎣
Try paste i had 4 big hybrids all over 2.5lb on halibut home made paste the skimmers didnt want it but the big ones did
Cheers, will try that
Another nice video. Keep them coming.
Thank you 😊 will do
Thank you for the info and tip on the set of bread punches, I never thought about getting different sizes. I looked up some on eBay now, but the shipping fees have gone mad the last couple of years - close to £35 in shipping, plus VAT when the item arrives in Norway.. But I will have a look around and see what I can find. Thanks for uploading another lovely video!
Thanks for your comments. You are welcome. Oh boy, that's expensive. Are they less expensive on Amazon? I hope that you find some. I know that people used to make them by cutting biro tubes or even using sections of old fishing rods, cut down
Whereabouts are you Mark?
Just outside Accrington
Great watch again mark nice tench to end the session 👍
Thank you :-) It came as a nice surprise
Nice watch indeed, well done all round.
Thank you very much 🎣
Thoroughly enjoyed watching . Tight lines
Thank you very much 🎣
great result with the slabs, Mark! some of them fight a bit, I've found! maybe a Tench next time? jacks on lobworms are a nuisance in winter at our end of the LL canal. 👍👍
Many thanks David. New video tomorrow, with a surprise catch on Breadpunch 😎🎣👍
Great video Mark 👍👍
Thanks mate 🎣😂
A KLONKER ! NICE 1
Cheers
The L/L canal on the outskirts of Liverpool, was renowned for huge tench, and bream. Nowadays, its a shadow of its former self, where you would be lucky to catch two tench in an entire season I (like many other anglers) caught my first ever fish on the L/L. Sadly, the fishing has deteriorated over the last couple of decades, and it's now not even worth visiting. Make the most of it mate, as i can only see the decline in canal fishing spreading to all areas.
Sad to hear. Yes, got to make the most of fishing spots that are producing. Thanks for your comments mate
Great session mark it’s good to see you branching out🤣 is that the same stretch that you fished with Gary last year by any chance, it looked familiar ?? Great bream mark well done.
Haha cheers Paul. Well spotted. It’s a good fish-holding spot. Hope that you caught a few on river today 🎣😎
@@000fishing it was a tough few hours mark I didn’t get on the river until 2.30 pm only stayed till 5.00 and caught 2 gudgeon☹️
At least you didn’t blank. I’ve not caught gudgeon from the Calder. Nice one. I’m on Ribble tomorrow 🎣
@@000fishing I hope you have a good day.🤞🏼
