I think they need to extend James Daniels. He’s a great guard and they need experienced, vet presence in that Oline room along with Seumalo. The offensive side of the ball is very young and needs balance.

I hope McCormick is the eventual replacement for Seumalo, not Daniels. Everyone else will be on their rookie contracts, they can spend on Daniels.
Excellent summary! How many new extended contracts (of these 4) do you think the Steelers can afford? I would “extend” Hayward one year at a time.

Dejan Kovacevic continues to report that steelers plan to extend Najee and cam. Said it again last week. Also Dave Bryan from Steelers depot just wrote a nice article on possible reasons why Steelers declined his 5th yr option but may still sign him to extension

I'll say Warren is the next one to get extended. He seems most likely to take a medium contract that would entice the Steelers enough to risk future dollars.
I don't think you can view the 5th year option decision as simply being if Harris is worth 7 mil next year for several reasons. They just cleaned house on offense and most of it was unrelated to physical ability. That doesn't mean Nagee is a bad person. It just means the Steelers value 7m in free cap space next year more than they value the good deal his his contract would represent. I think anyone who looks at next year's contract decisions would agree.

Understand that but at the same time cam cannot demand a lot of money and the longer this draws out the worse it puts the team in

@@Steelers_DB I do too but the problem is whose contract can you use as a model for his just in case this goes left… I understand cam wants one more deal but if we want to win a Super Bowl and possibly make future additions via mid season trades or off season acquisitions then cam has to take less so that we can take at least 1 swing at going to the Super Bowl…

@@Steelers_DB right and I mean granted players at his position can play even in there older age but the problem is you don’t wanna give him all this money and then he regresses.. as long as the years are reasonable and the average per year is decent cool.. but if not then option B
Who do you think will be the next Steelers player to get extended?
Part of me says Muth will get a deal since the TE is a cheap and the deal won’t break there pockets.. I just feel like not signing certain players ahead of time puts the time in a bind then help it… we should’ve at least had talks with James Daniels than just say we’re not gonna have discussions… cam deal should be short an low and Najee should be cheap

Tomlin don’t mess this up! You had problems juggling the low ball pathetic QB room of Kenny,Mason,and Mitch! Tomlin you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink! Great film break down! These packages will help in the red zone for sure! It’s like Tomlin and Arthur! Just utilize all your weapons! You got Russ and Justin on a steal- possibly will only have both of them for one year! Russ will definitely start but I’m all about Fields having a couple trickery type packages!
I think Arthur Smith’s 2 TE offense will work better for Russ. With 6-5 Freiermuth in the slot and 6-7 Washington inline, it gives Russ 2 tall targets in the intermediate middle of field that short Russ could see over the line. I don’t see much in the way of empty backfield. Jaylen is a better sidecar than having any other WR depth option on the field.

There’s alot of read options here… if this is truly Arthur’s scheme, how does Fields not win the job in camp? You think they’ll let Russ cook and Fields is the long term?
Steelers should run a minimum of 30 attempts a game, Fields deserves 5-7 of those. Arthur smiths offense is perfectly paired with the steelers Defense.
How do these QB run designs apply to RW? Fields will most likely see the field “😂” when RW either struggles or is injured, right? I feel the Steelers best shot in 24’ is to be close to the 05’ team title team. Balanced offense attack during regular season. Strong OLine gets better each week and dominates late. Get hot, make the playoffs and open up RW with play action in playoffs. Healthy, getting hot at the same time and a little luck. I don’t feel Fields is ready for a push like this

7:03 there is something I’m curious/wondering about. Say they did play him the 75 plays like you asked on X, what percentage of those do you see being red zone & non red zone plays? I know it depends on the defense we are playing but what percentage do you think they are option, designed QB runs or JS passing the ball? On non red zone plays would he only be wanted on 3rd downs?

Good thing all the AFC north games for the Steelers are at the end of the season, great point about bad weather.
I think the idea is interesting, but Russ has always been a guy that makes his money on money downs. Unless he shows to be unreliable in that, I'm fine with Fields being backup. Edit: I guess if your thoughts are that we could run a handful of these plays on 1st down on our side of the field, you could be hoping for that lucky break play Fields can do.
Yeah man the thing that really excites me is that if this is what he did with rider and mariota, just imagine what he could do with fields.
