It is a semitic root pattern of "Ma[1][2]a[3]", where the number indicates the semitic roots letters. So for the word "food", the arabic word is "Ta3aM", and this word's semtic word root is T, 3, M, so Ma[t][3]a[m] would be a place where you eat, i.e. a restaurant. Same for Li3Ba (play/game) or KaTaba (write), their respective word root i L, 3, B and K, T, B, and putting them in the semitic word templete Ma[1][2]a[3], you get Ma[L][3]a[b] (playground/game-field) and Ma[K][T]a[B] (a place where you write, ie. Office) Same applies for T, A/I, R (to fly) Ma[T][A]a[R] (flying place, ie. Airport) Mustashfa is more complicated, but comes from the word "shifa" (to get well/to heal), word root [Sh], [F], [A]. However, interestingly, the word Ma[Sh][f]a[a], also means "hospital" (or "clinic")

In Lebanese and (I think) Palestinian we also say "Jum3a" for both "friday" and "week", although I personally preferer the proper word "oosboo3" for week, since it isn't ambiguous

The last two were a bit off tbh. Officially, "thank you" in maltese is "grazzi" and "bon appetit" would be "l-ikla t-tajba". "Saħħa" means "goodbye".
