For us non machinists interested in machining and Porsches, how is the set up determined? ie how do you insure it comes out in the correct place of the combustion chamber with the correct angle?

Interesting vid. Guessing that's a EL (61") knucklehead cylinder by lack of oil holes. The missing thing here is TORQUE PLATES. Even a cast iron cylinder, and especially one being blown out for a sleeve, needs that simulated stress that only torque plates (I even install the exact head and base gaskets to be used). This opinion will undoubtedly have mostly dissenters, but most people simply don't HAVE torque plates, or don't want to take the time to deal with them. In his defense, it'll probably be ok in a EL. This guy is providing a valuable service here for folks like us who actually RIDE our old bikes. We're stuck using old, reworked junk like this, while hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands of pristine vintage cylinders languish away in boxes and milk crates, put there by hoarders, looking to build that old bike up day, only to have their grandkids eventually toss the parts, ignorant of the treasure they are holding.

Is it possible to not take that second cut all the way down and shorten the sleeve accordingly. This creates A step and would prevent the sleeve from moving down. So interference fit and step Value your opinion thxx

Speed and feed both seem excessive. I think these engines started life as a van engine, Bedford CF. I worked on one JH which had snapped its cam belt, and worked at a Chrysler/Talbot dealer in the UK when the Lotus Sunbeam was current.

There is a second oil hole to the push rods, it has a plug in it. You remove adjustment screw to drill through. Was there some reason why this was not shown?

Wouldn't it be better to place the block in an oven to heat expand before sleeve insertion? By hammering don't you risk damaging the sleeve coating and therefor risk long-term galvanic corrosion?

I don't understand why you made rough cuts for finish? Why not write it or move the block so your boring bar is only 0.200 above the part before starting the cut? It looked like a third or more of cut time was spent dropping on the Y axis at cut speed just to start each cut. Cutting plunge speed? If you want the tightest possible fit by hand, wouldn't it work better to travel at 1/4 the speed or even less? Leaving it rough will need a bigger hole for it to fit. A super slow cut and a shiny surface could be smaller and still fit nicely. My preference is a slight interference fit. Warm the block up to 80/90 degrees and sleeves in the freezer. Not a great difference but should slide in and out freely at this temperature. Locking in a second or two after placing it. Torque plate and finish hone liners, especially nicasil lined aluminum.
