Now, here is a solution that you just won't see shops doing, we go the BBC intake manifold in to resurface and decided to do in on the resurfacer using a rotary table. The rotary table gave us access to rotate the manifold until it was level and made for a very solid fixture. Not as of yet. I'm gonna try and go to the KZread production site in LA after the first of the year and try and get everything straightened out. Google sucks when you try and get a hold of them.

That's a very unusual setup, John! I loved the comment about being brave. I've never seen a rotary table used like that before. Looks like an excellent solution to the problem. I am wondering about the manifold. When you remove metal from the contact surfaces the manifold automatically sits further down in the valley (of a Vee engine). Will this have a noticeable effect on the alignment of the ports (manifold to cylinder head)? Do the ports need to be re-matched, or is the difference so small it can be ignored? Thanks much for another very interesting video.

Bruce,We only resurfaced on side and removed .003", when you trig this out the manifold will only be lowered .0015" - not enough to worry about in the real world. Being 'brave' is what makes a good machinist, and brave pills are not that expensive! I'm currently writing the app for this so the kids can just call it up on their phones... Ha..................
engines like the small block chevy have different manifold end seal variations through out the years on the chev use the seal for the manifold variation a good clearance to check for proper crankcase sealing those thing get old and crack if you have crankcase vaccume you lose some ring seal and so on positive crankcase ventilation systems you encounter fuel metering problems
