VW Wide 5 Brake Rotor Drilling - 40 Periferal Holes for Cooling

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Well, I knew it was bound to happen, one of you guys saw my rotor drilling operation on the FIATNUTZ channel,, and wouldn't you know it, he brought a pair of VW wide-5 front rotors to drill. This is not your ordinary rotor drilling of perpendicular hole, but lateral holes. Take a look and see how it's done by John Edwards @ Costa Mesa R&D Automotive Machine shop. Don't forget to 'Click' and SUBSCRIBE. This is the NEW fiatnutz channel location.

These rotors are going on a 68 Cal Look Beetle. Rear drums have the wide 5 X 205 - mm bolt pattern too. Rear drums have been drilled with vent holes where they contact shoe linings old hotrod mod style. Beetle started out not for USA export with a swingaxle gearbox that has now been built up for some abuse and a bored X stroked mild ratio of compression street motor with 2387cc of displacement.

Hi you could do a video about balancing crankshaft where you explain the difference of balancing with bob weights and without. As well as pros and cons. Thank you for many good and instructive clips.

Nicklas, see if you can find a copy of my engine rebuilding book, it will tell you all you need to know: Sunnen's Complete Cylinder Head and Engine Rebuilding Handbook. You can usually find them on eBay.

I'm opposed to the mechanical alteration of brake rotors. How susceptible to brake fade can any VW be? It isn't used for trailer towing, I'm sure. And if brake overheating (and consequent fading) is a problem, one way to avoid this is modification of the piston to put more thermal resistance in the thermal path to the hydraulic fluid. I still give you "thumbs up" for fine workmanship, John.

Brake fade can and does happen without boiling the brake fluid.
