For anyone watching this video now, the workaround mentioned at 9:14 is no longer needed and the container can be installed and run directly like any other container. I'm on hAP ax3 ROS 7.15.2.
Do you have a video on opnsense firewall rules
The most stupid attack vector is to have the Mikrotik webfig username already filled out with "admin".     How on earth haven't they removed that by now .... ffs
I'm re-establishing my pfSense from end of last year when I never fully put it in place. When I boot it up, it is showing "pfSense 2.7.2-RELEASE amd64 20231208-2055" Is this the latest version? When I hit the update option , it says it's up-to-date, but I'm not sure if I'm attempted the update correctly. I'm going to "system" "update" "System Update". Thanks in advance!
I want to connect two locations with VPN, but both lack the static IP address. However DDNS is working for both places and clients can connect to both routers easily. Can I use IPSEC with two DDNS enabled routers? If not, which protocol do you recommend for permament connection? Thanks for your answer.
11:48 whose channel? CC didn't catch it either :( Another great video btw!
NM got it, took me a few more times replaying that part lol Druvis's video on the Mikrotik channel.
Yeah Druvis' video regarding Q-in-Q is very informative
best and simple explaination about static routing i have experienced in my entire life! thanks..
Hi, thank you very much for this tutorial! Everything works, but I cannot access local hostnames. For ex mikrotik dns is on 192.168.88.1, veth for adguard is on 10.0.0.1, I have several static dns records that works if dns on the client = 192.168.88.1, but how make it work through the adguard? I tried dns upstream, but no luck. Please advice, thank you
Awesome video....I did actually struggled quite a bit with overall understanding how to configure/create vlans on mikrotik. And here You provide in nice form all info I needed to understand it. Thanks for sharing it!
very good video, Currently I have configured 2 IPsec between Fortigate, the tunnel is up but when I try to ping from Fortigate A to the LAN network on Fortigate B it can't. is this ping test mandatory from hosts under fortigate a?
Nice wallpaper! Eva shogoki!
Question: Mikrotik vs one of this two software, witch one you recomend? Regards
Nice video now I setup wiregurd VPN while watching your vidos .plz upload video with firewall rule .how can I send specific traffic via wire guard.❤
Hi! Can you make this lab available for access on EVE?
The community has improved a lot in recent years. When I started over a decade ago it was kind of eliteist with hostility towards anyone asking questions. But that has definitely improved... and you yourself I feel have done a lot to make it more accessible, I myself have found your tutorials (particularly your Wiregaurd videos) to be extremely helpful.
Good Please can this apply to tunnels like l2tp
do we need static public ip for this lab?
Thanks so much
Hey, thanks a lot for this. Do you have or could you make in-depth QoS traffic shaping tutorials for this device? cheers 👍
This video is rich, but the movement of your cusor is the problem. Teach like you know that some persons hands need to be held. move slowly for people to follow properly.
Thank you for the constructive feedback, I do appreciate it and agree
Hello Sir. Nice video for freshers. Am facing an issue, unable to login to my vm, which you had told that the default login is vio and bios. can you please help me out
The logins should be vyos/vyos closed captions probably creating the incorrect subtitles
thanks to you i learnt juniper got bought by HPE ... did not hear about that yet.
Yeah it's a weird world where even these massive vendors go through change of ownership, not to mention a few months before this they also had a lot of layoffs, similar to Cisco
@@TheNetworkBerg sad tbh especially in case of a good company getting bought by a bigger but sh*tty company and quality of a known to be good brand goes down eventually (i am looking to vmware for example....)
Great work! So waiting a continue. But you will face with one problem with VPLS between CE8 and CE6 via RR connection. It seems Mikrotik has a bug with it. Traffic will go only trough RR
Apparently this is an old bug, surprised it has not yet been fixed
@@TheNetworkBerg yes, 7.15.1 still has
I want to see this with SwOS aswell.. its a little bit more complicated there
I will see if I can get SwOS installed to check for the changes from my understanding it is a bit different
@TheNetworkBerg yes it is! Backup files isn't great either. Every config variables are combined and also lots of random characters so it's really hard to read. My colleague needed to take pictures of all settings so it would be more easy for me to replicate and deploy to another switch. I don't know if I just can use the backup file and restore on the new switch? I would also like to see a basic VLAN setup. On just a switch with an uplink. Both on RouterOS and SwOS. Like i want to add some of the ports to VLAN 340 and nothing else. For example port 4, 7, 9, 11 and 15. I guess those ports need to be added aswell on the uplink port. As you show in this video.
Haa thats what ATT use when deliver fiber to an office, they add a box after the fiber to ethernet connection or sometimes before, and i was puzzled why! if you can go direct from the fiber to your inhouse router.
Great video 😊 Did you consider doing video about 802.1x on mikrotik ?
Awesome Video, always learn a ton. It usually leads me to ask "Why did he do that?" which leads me down a rabbit hole lol. Keep it up man, Awesome work!
actually, disregard the below
how come Juniper is capable to provide the way of the vlan so from the MikroTik you can use with vlan tag- stacking and without. Imagine if you have MikroTik instead of Juniper, you wouldn't be able to do that.
Great video, got me up & running with my VLANS and a quick understanding and a good solid headhold around it being new to Mikrotik. Nice that this is also up to date on the interface as of now.
Bro that's awesome man thanks
Well I learnt something new today's great video.
What a remarkable achievement Keep going brother
Thanks for sharing. Do more videos with multiple vendors, including MikroTik. It would be great if you started a video tutorial series with Juniper.
I could definitely cover more Juniper things on the channel as well if there is an interest for it.
I love your videos! Thanks for all your hard work!
Glad you like them!
Hey there guys, here is just some reference material to help you better with your configurations if you ever get stuck Juniper QnQ docs: www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/multicast-l2/topics/topic-map/q-in-q.html MikroTik QnQ docs: help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/VLAN#VLAN-Q-in-Q
um hi can i get your info i want to contact u plz, i need some pointes
Thank you. I was waiting videos from you
thanks, you are genius
Hello Mr Berg and everyone, i just tested the lab made from scratch, with version 7.6 i had a problem after setting up the L3VPN, the new routes (dy) they was appiring and disappiring every few seconds, ping also failed, i double checked the config on all devices, everything was fine, then I used version 7.13 (with eveng) and its working perfectly! i used "role=ibgp-rr-client" from begining, i saw the comment referring to that. Keep up the good work, best regards!
Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to have the firewall with different rules in each Vlan?
Amazing tutorial. Simple and to the point. Thanks
hallo iam from indonesia iam used mikrotik for my house
How can you connect all the mikrotik router inside eve-ng without setting management interface? Please share the details.
its still not make any sense when you can configure vlan many ways! its not user friendly practice at all! p.s but great video!
Yeah it is extremely frustrating especially for someone trying to learn about VLANs, and then having people shout at you that you are doing it wrong. Even though the MikroTik allows you to do it and in some cases MikroTik suggests configuring a VLAN a certain way :(
@@TheNetworkBerg they should fix routers os and command to create vlan should know mikrotik hardware has switch chip or no!there should be only one way to create vlan
I enjoyed that introduction. I don’t own a Milrotik, but I do enjoy learning how different switches and routers work, and have been considering some of their smaller 100G switches for my Homelab just for the hell of it snd to see if I can push my hardware.
Are updates in pfSense CE lacking security patches or is it feature lag?
Any chance you can redo this one on ROS7 and or a combination of ROS7 and 6?
I ran m0n0wall and DD-WRT back in the early 2000's good stuff indeed. I do remember "being there' when the project winded down but I can't recall the reasoning 20 odd years later.
i cant seem to test my snort from an external network
