While I understand the point of revenge value's existence I gotta say KH2s revenge value system is probably one of the single worst implemented mechanics ever put into a video game. If I have to data mine your fucking game to even be aware of its single most important mechanic then you have failed as a developer.

It's always funny to me when people call the handheld games spin-offs or call the numbered titles mainline. Every single game except Re:Coded and arguably Fragmentary Passage is a major part of the story so I wouldn't say there's any such thing as mainline or side games in the franchise. Ironically out of all of them I'd even go as far as to argue that Birth By Sleep is the most important game in the series without a number in the title.

In my honest opinion if done well the command deck can be the best system the series has had It’s usually just poorly balanced, the commands usually restrict you/can’t be used freely used as combo tools and hurt by the floaty combat But when done right like in coded it can just be a a system that gives me more control over my specific attacks I do with my combos beyond the usual hitting or magic. It’s a fun system
@Goremize13 күн бұрын
hehehe here I am someone who loves Valour form and its square attacks and auto finishers. Even using it against the games final boss. Something about the attacks are just so fun to me. Which is something they honestly forgot about in kh3. Fun.
@Goremize13 күн бұрын
Interesting to see someone else who doesn't like many of the data fights. To me they just feel boring because of their gimmicks. If you know how to beat the fight, then its just repeating that same process until you win with no variation. If you just want to play and actually try to have fun, that just leads to you being killed by the gimmick. You often have to play specifically, which takes all the fun out of the bosses. I will always find the data fights boring. I also don't like using reflect because of how strong it is, which again makes the data fights harder almost like they were designed with you using reflect. What I miss is the damage limits did in the original game. FM nerfed limits too much, spamming reflect does more damage. In fact I don't like how much they nerfed Donald/Goofy in general, as in KH1 they could actually do damage, and in FM they do chip damage and limits hardly do anything with Donald only being useful because you can do more damage during his limit by just... attacking and ignoring the limit.

It is interesting coming to this to check these comparisons out now, as the original 2 game was the game we all fell in love with and yet for some reason they changed a lot more then they needed to when they changed over to FMHD, they really should not have at least changed the heartless colours and they didn't even need to change the music Edit: wow the bias chat has towards the remix songs is intense, but I guess its because to many the remix is all they know. They only played the HD version and have no idea how good the original music songs are when actually playing the game.

Or in Ninja Gaiden Black, where you go into a dead end, but do your wall jumps that only a Ninja can do, to find the Windmill Shuriken & an Xbox logo that fully healed you? Shit like that sticks with you

There's so many small things in KH3 that are really bothersome. First and foremost, and this one doesn't have a mod fixing it: Getting hit into a wall. It completely interrupts the flow of battle, it doesn't feel nice, and it opens you up to a combo to death, for no reason. There is absolutely zero reason you couldn't just do an air recovery after being bashed into the wall. If you could do it fast enough, you could then block, which would feel really satisfying, and it wouldn't feel as needlessly arbitrary. When you're trying to airdash and it immediately clings to a wall as if you wanted to jump off the wall even though you have a bunch of flowmotion crap turned off, and then you're trying to gain back your flow to attack, but you're still in that wall sticking animation, and you're just trying to dodge again. How when you try to do the air finisher that does a magnet, Sora has a habit of just deciding that NOW is the perfect time to hit the fucking ground, whereas literally every other situation has him stuck in the air, because one enemy chose that the ground was nice. How the auto target system will lock you onto the enemy that just hit you instead of the one you want to focus on. This is especially eggregious against those floating fire things, because when this happens, usually they're doing their desperation move, which you literally cannot damage. You want to focus on another enemy, but even using the manual lock, it automatically selects that one! The movement has lost responsiveness for the sake of a more fluid animation. The automatic targetting system almost never focuses on the enemy you're looking at and moving towards. When it does, you're trying to hit the enemy to your side, and it decides to make you shoot forward towards the enemy you don't want. You can barely cancel out of any attacks. This is especially bad with things with really long, wide arcs that leave you open to damage. At least being able to cancel out of those would make them much more enjoyable. The attractions are slow, unnecessary, and they take up space that should have been situation commands. The devs arbitrarily chose which bosses you cannot airstep to, like the heartless in Rapunzel's world, which literally always keeps running away, so you have to constantly be running after it. All of these things add up, even in RE:CUT. Now, one thing I DO like is that some things that we used reaction commands for are now done seamlessly in the game. reflecting back that one nobody's projectiles. Warping to an enemy (airstep) The turnaround warp you could do on dusks before (Reprisal) Pole spinning like on the boss in Beauty & the Beast's world in KH2 (Flowmotion.) The fact that the system is no longer trying to find which of these you want to do is fantastic. The fact that they require a lot more skill to pull off, and often end up at odds with each other (especially anything flowmotion-related) is crap. The fact that you now need to know precisely where and when to place yourself, and choose the specific right moment to block that one nobody's projectiles, sucks. Way less likely to happen. Instead you're fighting against a whole bunch of enemies, can't focus on him, and you get shot, because large crowds. Using a train in the 10 000 heartless fight was stupid and boring. Despite all that, I did like KH3 enough to put it right under KH2 in terms of my favourite KH games. If all of these things were no longer issues, it would absolutely be a stand-up. This can all mostly be summed up to this: You don't feel like you're in control. Your actions are not yours, you don't get to decide.
