I think if I'm going to have to try and explain why Enemy step became something you have to buy, I think I'd start with a developer question: How do you tell the player that Enemy Step exists, and that it's an important and powerful skill? Without prior knowledge, Enemy step is something that you would not intuitively think would be in a game like DMC, nor would you think it had the ability to animation cancel, because why would you think that naturally? How many other games are there were jumping on enemies will animation cancel? Probably not enough to make the general public think it's normal. By placing it in the shop, you both inform the player that Enemy Step exists, and you can naturally hint to the player that it's probably really good for something if it's competing with things like Max Act for price, without just giving you a multi page tutorial on why you should use it.

This makes sense... sometimes I question the decisions, like in MGR:R where your air parry and dodge are in there, and could really have just been explained when they were explaining defense, its a dodge and a parry, but sometimes its good signalling like here

Blue Rose by default is pretty meh, once you get Charged Shot it becomes hot as shit tho, landing a charged shot plants a time bomb effect with great damage and stagger potential, also you can charge Exceed while in a neutral stance just by mashing the button, useful if you wanna start fights JUICED and can't or don't have MAX Act Also from the castle you can backtrack as far as that big jump after the Church, far before Berial, and you need to finish the mission before the menus give you DT Upgrades, so that you can't buy them, then cancel or retry the mission and not have DT to use those upgrades on, since you didn't finish the mission that unlocks it to keep your unlocks

Fun gameplay. A hint for the 2nd half: the areas are much larger than dmc3's hallways, so watch out for knockback. In dmc4 (and 1), you don't really want to finish combos like you do in 3.

Hella excited to watch these videos. I can never make it to the stream and I love this game to death, despite it's flaws.

Anyone ever ask why he jumps all the time and never dodge rolls to avoid attacks? Is it just better I frames?

Jumping is much more reliable since you don't need to lock on. He is probably also used to jumping since in kh2 it is the only way to dodge in early game.

Jumps in DMC games have i frames on their start up. Additionally, dodge rolls is relative to where you are facing, and that can be hard to determine in the heat of the moment.

Overreacting is indeed what dmc fans do especially when it comes to complaining LUL
