    Why can't we hold a note step in multimode sequencer view (tapping the oct knob) and turn VEL, OCT, GATE and MOD like in a normal mono track? Why is it different? It's really hard to program notes without being able to shift the notes up and down one octave. And when do do manage to get a note an octave higher by turning that offset knob, its completely out of view! So then I need to guess where the notes an octave down are! I don't understand why it isn't a simple copy of the normal note input view.

    Two things to add, probably already covered elsewhere: using the shift + sequencer button to set a reset time really helps to keep different length tracks a bit more predictable. Also setting up the play button in config>performance as a reset helps to get everything back together after changing track lengths or divisions while the sequencer is running.

    +1 i'd also like to see an option to copy a single track/row so you can build melodic fugue sequences more easily in multitrack mode or maybe even have a whole separate fugue-sequencer mode

    Can you assign each voice in the chord to it's own cv output?! I've been doing that with other things and I always have to break the chords into monophonic lines which is cool and makes interesting stuff sometimes, but this would be SO much faster and more fun!

    Not sure I understood the user chords part. It sounded like it's just a preset slot for an existing combination of chord type + inversion + spread. Is there a way to put a completely custom chord where you specify the exact pitches, to support chords from outside the diatonic key without resorting to poly mode?

    Is there a resource you can point me towards so I can achieve this? I can't find it in the manual and the only way I could see from reading discord is to go from the cv out back to the cv input and control the root note of the sequencer track via the external mod matrix. If there is an easier way I'd love to know how

  • @RadekPilich
    @RadekPilichАй бұрын

    actually for every pattern, you can set different sequencer type, midi channel, program change.... so it might not be as straightforward as having 8 sequencers, but you can definitely sequence more than 4 instruments unless you want them play all at the same time.

    This was a really clear tutorial, thank you! Chord mode is really powerful and I’ve been enjoying experimenting with it. The auto voicing slightly blew my mind at first! One thing I am confused about is that I don’t understand what is meant by open chord in the chord type? I know what inversions are but what are open chords in this context please?

    I love that theres almost every chord available but it really would benefit from a chord mode that had pre arranged chord combinations similar to Roland J-6 or Scaler 2. This takes way too much effort to get an interesting progression as it stands.

  • @tendingtropic7778
    @tendingtropic7778Ай бұрын

    or like NDLR you mean?

  • @macaronafterparty
    @macaronafterpartyАй бұрын

    @@tendingtropic7778 Yes something like that. I imagine a mode where each row (or column) has styled progressions to work with so that people like myself can get an interesting progression quickly and move on. Again the J-6 is a great example having over 100 chord sets to explore. I've tried sending midi from my J-6 over to the Oxi however it doesn't record midi the way I expect it to and becomes more of a hassle than anything.

  • @OttoMilde
    @OttoMildeАй бұрын

    I think the Oxi One has a perfect level of "pre-arranged" parameters. You have all the chords in the world but you have to listen and see 4:07 what combinations work for you.

    When connecting this to ableton AND external gear combined, what would be a good way to connect it so I can use the max amount of my (digital and analog) synths / which cables are important? There is this Oxi One splitter in the video which gives 48 midi channels, but I wonder if I can use many more synths at the same time with this. A mono (sometimes half modular) synth would take one midi/cv channel which means there is lots of room for them, but could I limit the channels of a digital or analog poly synth to less voices so I am able to play way more synths together? What would be the necessary setup? USB Midi to the 48 channel splitter - 3 analog synths that have midi thru connected + one midi thru for even more. Can I also use the other Usb-c port to my windows computer for controlling Ableton devices (Can I take here also advantage of the 48 channels or do I need to use 1-32) or is it better to connect the interface with the oxi splitter. I try to plan to implement this into my studio but Im not so sure about how I need to connect everything :/ Setup is Ableton, Launchcontrol for Ableton Parameters, Digitakt (thinking about using this parallel to the oxi one as the drum station but with sync to the oxi/ableton), digitone, novation impulse, microfreak, 0 coast (could make use of the midi trs i think), td-3, quadrantid swarm, lyra 8. I am a bit overwhelmed with the possibilities of the oxi and hope to make the best out of my setup so every piece of gear can talk to the oxi one. Another question: The Page on thomann says 16 Pattern per Sequence. Does that mean that I have only 4 sequences and if I connect for example 6 mono synths to Sequence 1 they all share the same sequence length? how variable can I tune them? I dont really understand the concept of these sequences fully and how many unique voices with unique characteristics are possible :/

    Is this mode limited to 16-steps maximum?

  • @oxiinstruments
    @oxiinstrumentsАй бұрын

    16 steps for every single parameter. But the idea is that Since they are decoupled you can get very comples results, melodic ideas which repeat every hundreds of steps. You only have to change length, speed or direction.
