    I had a 2000 600s crazy bike. Very fast always felt a bit top heavy to me. Sold it to a Harley rider as a winter bike. Kind of regret it however confidence is key on two wheels init. Being a bigger lad I feel cruisers are more suited to me. Carful with mileage on Fazers, speedo drive on front wheel very easy to disconnect and mileage stops climbing! A 20k example could very well be a 40k example

    They dyno'd at c. 85 wheel HP, so Yamaha's claim of 95 crank is pretty honest. I had a 1999 in silver for 5 years (bought new). Some time in, when it was well loosened up, I wrapped myself around it (in leathers) and got the needle just nudging150MPH (long run-up on a deserted M-way, no gradient or wind)) which I reckon must have been a genuine 140+. The Scott Oiler fitted from new maybe helped. ETA >> mine 'chattered' below 2000RPM when rolling on until I adjusted the throttle position sensor (ignoring the spec) to make the ignition think it was further open and it was much improved. Also discovered I had the infamous backed-off engine sprocket nut when I went to replace it at c. 15K but thankfully no damage done (still had the original chain when I sold it at 22K, less than a cm of stretch in that entire time courtesy of the Scott Oiler, which I cranked up in the rain). ETA 2 >> what you say about the 'reassuring' amount of flex in the chassis was exactly the way I felt about it (nothing like the ridiculous corkscrewing and weaving that pre-1990's Japanese multis used to do of course).

    EDC is great in fact. Comfort mode for street and sport plus for track... standard is jack of all trades, master of none.

  • @jamescrawshaw71
    @jamescrawshaw716 күн бұрын

    Sport plus is too soft for track, too hard for road and comfort makes the car feel sloppy 🙃 Standard feels great on the road

    I am eyeing up one of these, it's in concourse condition & a 1997 B1 with 10800 miles from new. I've been cautioned that the B1 is known to blow head gaskets around 20000 miles & a major job to sort. Do you know if this is in fact a true known serious issue?

    If it's hesitating and feels wooly at low revs then the emulsion tubes are likely worn. The needle rattles about and wears them over time. I had a WP and changing them fixed it.

    Awesome car and I'm sure in Europe this is currently the go-to cool fast car for cheap. It's the Corvette here in the US... really hard to beat the value. Even after covid we're seeing C5 Z06 for low 20's in great condition.

    I have a Monster 1000ie, air cooled but slightly prepared by Biggelaar in Holland from 82 to 105 bhp. For a long time I thought about buying a 916 (sps) to have something else but they are getting too expensive to ride on and have the risk of damage. There are also a lot of 916's here for sale with some shady history and the good ones fetch easily above 30k... Keep yours in good condition !

    Loved my e92 m3 I sold it for a 4.2 gated manual audi r8 for actually only slightly more 30k and it was incredible. I currently have a c63 amg estate as a perfect family car but im looking at getting another toy its either an e92 m3, an r8 or a v8 vantage I think. There is also the 3rd option of just get a manual e90 and maby thats a one car does everything?

  • @jamescrawshaw71
    @jamescrawshaw71Ай бұрын

    Thanks for sharing mate, R8 Gated has got to be one of my favourite cars for the road, did you prefer it to the E92 M3? I'd love to drive one, especially the V10 as that's one of my favourite sounding engines! E90 could be a wicked does everything car, I reviewed one a few weeks ago and it was great, I didn't notice much difference compared to a E92! Expensive though!

  • @FIN4LBO55
    @FIN4LBO55Ай бұрын

    @@jamescrawshaw71 the r8 was incredible fun, it felt far more special to be in than the m3 even when just driving slow and the handling was another step up. I would say though the m3 was more fun to drive on the road when you were on it as you could get it to slide and step out under throttle whereas the r8 really needed to be on the track to try and induce such behaviour!

  • @jamescrawshaw71
    @jamescrawshaw71Ай бұрын

    @@FIN4LBO55 sounds amazing, totally get what you mean about being more special when driving slowly. The m3’s can feel very plain unless you have a bit of an exhaust on it 😉 I guess the 4wd from the Audi removes that liveliness feeling you get from M3’s! As you said, they’re so easy to get the back end out it’s hard to find a car more fun to drive on the road without having to push it to crazy limits! Hopefully one day I’ll get one or get a drive in one 🙌

    YYYEEESSSSSSS get one in black i have had mine since 2005 and it still looks brand new. thought about getting the Fazer 1000. But looking at the information about it there wasn`t much difference be tween the 2 of them and the 600 was cheaper best decision that i ever made. It`s also a very comfortable ride plus a twist of the wrist and you are quickly on your way.
