IT WON'T START.....CAN I FIX THIS NON RUNNING 1995 HONDA CBR 600F

I purchased this 1995 Honda CBR 600F from a local mechanic who couldn't get it running.....I'm not sure what I am going to be able to do but I'll give it my best and with a bit of luck we'll be taking it out for a test ride 👍

Just did this past weekend. 1992 F2 and boy is this a hell of a first bike project. Not complicated, just hard to source parts locally. Everything has to be ordered online. Even my local Honda dealer stated most of these parts are discontinued from Honda. Aftermarket, NOS & second-hand it is. Buying what I need now but will begin to stock up for the future as soon as its running. LET'S RESCUE THESE PUPPIES, ADOPT DON'T SHOP !!!!!

Good going. Sometimes, just because someone is a mechanic, doesn't mean they know how to work on everything. As an electrician, I know a lot of electricians that don't have a clue when it comes to automotive wiring.

I’ve got a zzr1100, had starting issues. I went through the wiring diagram and checked the system in a methodical fashion. A wiring diagram makes it so much easier. The problem was a faulty relay on the negative circuit. It’s very satisfying when they run sweet and knowing you did it yourself 👍🏻

If I remember the old cycle world article correctly, the hoses from the airbox are for pressurising the float bowls. This would prevent the pressurised ram air coming down through the main jets and frothing the fuel in the bowl.

I have a '96 CBR600F3 myself. It has been running perfectly until I stored it in the Pandemic - 2020. I had it brought to a mechanic due to a rough 3-cylinder start and we couldn't get it running since. We have gone through the same steps you have covered and the conclusion is that the carbs have to come off again and everything has to be cleaned again really carefully... I would really like to hear her roar again but I plan to sell it and buy a fuel-injected motorcycle even if this beauty has a sentimental value for me. The ethanol is slowly killing the classics unfortunately...love your content, keep it up ! Greetings from Romania !

Its been a while since you posted your question but I have a 1996 that ive owned for the alst 25 years. it was doing the three cylinder start as well. here are some things to check: vacuum test ports on the head to the carb. mine had dryrotted and caused air leaks. Check the sync and balance with a 4 vac channel gauge. once I synced them and then balanced them by vacuum all 4 cylinders fire right up. I hope that helps.

I remember when the Honda Hurricane 600cc F1 motorcycle came out in the late 80's they were not that expensive at the local dealership. A few years later the Honda F2 model really created a buzz in the motorcycle community and there was a big price increase at the local dealership for the bike. I picked up a new Honda F2 in 1994 for $5,000 dollars. I still have the bike. It's very uncomfortable to ride but fast as hell if that's what your looking for.

I used to race the F1 Hurricane in the 1980's. It was the original Vance and Hines supersport bike (I got used from a third party) Loved that bike. Every loophole in the rules were exploited and it was bike lengths faster down the straights than a stock F1 yet even close up with a magnifying glass it appeared to be bone stock. I wasnt racing in AMA at that time so we could modify it in our series. We tried to make ram air by sealing the air ducts to the airbox but it would not run right. After all these years now I know it is because it is missing that tube to pressurize the floatbowl. I remember the F2 was a game changer. Way faster than the F1 or the FZR600. Fun times.

I have a 1996 600F3 that was a Texas import in my garage, registered in England 1998, it has been off the road since 2002 and has only done 9'127 miles from new. I have wanted to restore it for years as it is a little tatty now, but never had the time, lots of OEM parts bought and a few upgrades but it is still in the garage partially dismantled. I am worried now though about ethanol infested fuel, it would really damage the carbs, so these days I keep telling myself that I will finish it and put it on display in my Bachelor house.

I run/store my 96F3’s last tank with non ethanol gas from the airport every winter. 5 years and 10k miles later still starts right up with the choke. Not a fan of stabilizers. If I couldn’t get ethanol free gas I’d just mix water with it to separate and then siphon it out. Then just add some octane booster for that tank. If the gas smells bad in any of my gas tanks after storage or a new machine I just pump it out of the tank into a funnel with a coffee filter and mix it in with the cars gas. I use a duraheat siphon pump. When I got my bike with 10k miles on it I changed the fuel filter (it was plugged limiting flow), petcock (it leaked at the tank O ring), the oil and filter, the fan wouldn’t kick on (fuse was blown), new tires and valve stems, new clutch cable (old one dragged even with lube), brake fluid ( it was 30 years old), headlight (it was very dim), air filter (upgraded to K&N), exhaust (upgraded to Delkevic), brake lever (old was bent), seat bolts (2 new bolts can be removed with an Allen key that stays on the bike) yes I’ve needed a jump and if you don’t have a wrench/socket you can’t get the seat off to get to the battery. Overall this is a great bike if you keep fresh gas in it and regular maintenance. I’m a short guy at 5’6” with a 29” inseam and this is a comfy ride when I commute 30 miles one way on it. I wouldn’t call it a beginner bike because it has lots of power. My best 1/4 mile is 12.5 at 112 mph and I’m 210 lbs. Most cars under 500hp have trouble keeping up. They don’t make them like they used too and these are cheap fun if you can find a decent one. I get asked how fast is it all the time and it’s fast enough for me. I’ve got a video of it revving on my channel. Ride safe 👍🏻
