Aluminum bracket against a steel roof in a wet environment…yikes. Galvanic corrosion is going to either erode the threads loosening the bracket or eroding the side of the standing seam when the coating gets damaged in the first wind storm and the bracket moves a little bit.

How do you clean those panels, and how often? once twice a year? my neighbor had some roof panels installed and a month later they were covered in pollen and dirt. (and the rain didnt help, it turned it into a crust)

for sure our favorite - standing seam. did my own garage- with exact same system way back .. issue can be HOA wont allow metal roofs IN SOME AREAS - we did in way to hide the metal roof from view - WITH A COOL ROOFER . Call CRsolar Texas SINCE 2007 if you want us to do a install. WOW THAT HOUSE IS COOL-- will it handle a tornado - my next house I plan to build - looking at that. Matt give me a call..

There is something so funny about all these highly engineered "bomber" materials, and then tight zooms on random cinderblock chunks acting as rebar chairs😂 I'm sure your engineer measured to ensure the rebar was close enough to centerline, but some of those rocks look a lot shorter than 2.5"...

Have you looked into a product called Sonopan? I think it's available in the US too, although it's a Canadian product. Basically it's an engineered wood panel that goes on before drywall that absorbs sound incredibly well. It can be combined with rockwool insulation. Pretty awesome product. Also made from recycled wood fibres, so very eco friendly.

Giving me SIPs ptsd from my home build. Our builder was like "oh yeah 2 weeks" for our 1700 sqft, had the high lift, he way overpromised for his level of experience and only having a couple guys. Started right AFTER Christmas after delays related to his other work (moving a skylift costs $$) and guess what he says they can't let that butyl caulk freeze for between the SIPs, wound up being a few months. SIPs are a neat idea, they do constrain you for modifications after build, but ask lots of questions and be more discerning about the builder.

Truth on the Hail stuff. Mom's house 3 year old roof, took the recent *big* hail storm. She needs the whole asphalt roof replaced due to hail damage to the surface. My metal exposed fastener roof? One dented corrugation I could probably repair with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver.

7:55 RAL - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAL_colour_standard This is not only a standard, it's a German Norm. If you buy now a RAL-color and in 10 or 20 years again, the same RAL-color will be exactly the same color. Differences at the old color came from the environment (sun, rain, ...) and not while the color would change. Also, if you buy a RAL-color there should be no difference if you buy the half from the one manufacturer and the other half from another manufacturer. Because this was the reason for creating the RAL-colorschema.

Why only Triple glaze though ? I mean in the most busy street of alaska certainly but for normal use double glaze already have a better R than walls and roof, need way less window frame and wall framing to sustain them (meaning less glass surface per opening) and the cost is about 1.5 to 2 times the price of double glazing.

Would close cell foam work as a subwoofer enclosure ? I'm wanting to put a subwoofer behind a rear panel in my land cruiser . There is not a lot of room and its a odd shape so I was think foam could fill in the space and I could cut out the inside of the foam once it set up to get the correct amount of air space .

It’s my understanding not to leave the line cooked like that on the wall due to the liquid pooling/meeting resistance based on gravity at the bottom of the circle

Yea i hate it when youtubers swear something is a scam/ ripoff or whatever when they dont completely know about something.. attic vents, vent fans, soffit vents, ridge vents, side vents, whirlybird vents all work and all can do positive things for houses.. talking about how vent fans suck out the conditioned air but in a home where you dont have adequate attic venting where its 80 outside, 75 inside and 120 in the attic.. this makes the ac work hard. I put 2 attic fans pulling in air from the roof that turn on when it gets 110 in there. The first time they kicked on it blew all kinds of crap out of the soffit vents and the other 2 roof vents. After that the fans don’t come on except when its super hot out.. and when they do it helps….

This really didn't show anything (not to be rude, but maybe you adjust and show it in a future video!). As soon as you move away from the speaker, your sound meter drops. Try it in the hall with the door open. There's basically no soundproofing with that gap under the door. It's like heating (cooling in the south) a house with a window open. Funny enough, 1/2" drywall can be better in some cases (with 24" OC) because the flex of the wall can be absorptive. Proper soundproofing needs decoupling like clips and channel (not resilient channel!). It's a complex subject and requires quite a bit more than extra insulation. Mass loaded vinyl will do nothing. To increase mass you'd use double drywall with a constrained layer damping compound (eg Green Glue). One last note, soundproofing is keeping sound in or out, not to be confused with acoustic treatment which is controlling the quality of the sound in the room. They are separate and you can have one without the other. Drywall is very reflective and almost all drywall rooms benefit from absorption to reduce reverb. Living spaces often have some via furniture (but need more) while a room like a garage sounds horrible without acoustic treatment.

I really wondered about the sand bags on the last episode. Not structural sound. But you explained everything. Thank you. I will talk with my engineer if we can do this also. Thank you very much.
