One Man Window Install from the INSIDE - Pella's Steady Set is a game changer!
Check out the latest innovation from Pella - the Steady Set window installation system! In this video, Matt Risinger showcases the revolutionary features of this new system, including a safer and faster installation process. Watch as Tim and his team demonstrate the installation of second-floor windows using the Steady Set system.
One of the standout features of this system is the innovative flashing design, which ensures a watertight and airtight seal. Matt highlights the ease of installation from the inside, thanks to features like the flip and click bracket and pre-installed sill shims.
The video also covers other key components of the Steady Set system, such as the shim guide and head stabilizers, which simplify the installation process and eliminate the need for a second installer. Matt emphasizes the importance of these features in ensuring a secure and efficient installation.
Overall, the Steady Set system offers a significant improvement over traditional window installation methods, providing a safer, faster, and more reliable option. Stay tuned to the Build Show for more innovative construction solutions like this!

I use plumber strapping screwed to the top of the window frame and bend it to stop the window from falling out and secur le it with a screw or tack it with a nail.
Just set windows yesterday and today. And was wishing I could install from the inside! Older home with pier and beam so raised up quite a bit. You can buy those clips after Market put them on windows yourself if the retrofit and don’t have a nail on flange. You can also buy those clips to install prehung doors. They work great. Been around for a long time maybe 10-15 years.

Will this work for window replacement on existing house? Will there be a “replacement” version?
So, Pella is installing windows in that same way it's done in Germany and much of Europe for decades. Someday, maybe they will engineer them as well too.
does this make a future window removal and install a PITA because it is nailed on the inside instead of out?
Wow I just got my quote on windows from Pella. Will make sure to ask for the “Steady Set” Thanks for posting another great video

Easy install. Wonder what reinstalling a damaged window/frame with the same type would involve. Would you have to dig out the clips from drywall, or is there a way to disengage the clips from the outside and clip the new one into the same clips? If the second, would that also mean you wouldn't need to touch the trimming on the inside to reinstall the window?
@kenbrown2808

you'd have to completely remove both the interior and exterior trim.
Can you do water test on these installed windows please? I'd like to see if there is any leakage with negative pressure.

Curious how y'all handle sheetrock returns with the brackets. In fact, how do jamb extensions work in markets where they are used?
Most people must be saying, This is so simple, why didn't we invent this earlier?
In Britain we've been installing windows from the inside for over 20years.
Do you think those brackets might make replacing or changing windows in the future more difficult?

Not sure what is so new here. Few weeks back Andersen widows did an install for me and a single guy set all the windows except one by himself. (One that he didn't was 84" by 84" picture, just too heavy for a single person).
Curious, why all fixed windows? Do they sell this same system for dbl hungs, casements etc?

Yes, this is available on other window types. Some of the windows you saw in the video were casements.
@Black_Dirt_Contractor
Ай бұрын
So many people are going with casement windows now. Not double hungs. Those appear to be crank outs. Eliminating the frame of each sash around eye level. Those are taller than your average house, so a dbl hung might be hard to latch, or get the top sash pushed up. ... I was curious about using them on dbl hungs. How would you adjust the frame/jamb for correct window operation?
I dont know about it. Just install the frame and put in the glass. It works just as good imo.
Should have showed the outside part of the install in more detail.
Pella has stepped up their game. Nice to see, When I was installing full time, we hated Pella quality. They were as flimsy as Jeld Wen depot specials. We did noise remedy in Seattle and have a couple thousand homes and 10's of thousands under our belt. These would have completely changed time per install by hundreds of hours.

I install Fenplast windows in Canada. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, we always install from inside. Our windows have similar clips, only smaller and they must be screwed. We always work in pairs, because it’s much safer. @@TheRayDog, I think he means installing from the inside? I just replaced a few windows in my renovation, and I even had a long fixed one (even a bit narrower), as they showed here, and I could install it on my own. The system I had to use was even better because I could put those brackets wherever possible. There are rails all around the aluminum frame, and you twist the brackets into place. With some clamps, I keep it temporarily in place and then screw the brackets into the brick wall. P.S. I'm from Belgium.
You know why these manufacturers are making these easier and safer to install, it’s to get the “DIY’rs” they will gladly push the tradesmen out of the way to increase sales & when it fails due to being installed improperly they will just sell another.

These windows look great. However, they are designed the ultra high end home. Most window manufacturers don't give a damn about the normal home buyer. Who cannot, under any circumstance, afford Pella windows.
Unrelated but I'm still waiting to see what zip wall looks like in 30 years. The tape is not layered and the adhesives won't last forever.
However, these windows do not have the tilt and open function like the European windows
Don't🚫forget🧠 to clip it❗yikes
This only works with small windows. 2nd story sliders, no way. Stairs also limit the size you can carry from the inside. Cool invention, but not worth the added expense especially if you already have large windows that will require exterior install

@MrBaconis Now that telehandler isn't needed. And/or fewer installers. If you're a laborer, no big deal, but if you're the contractor, this is a labor & money saver. If you're a solo installer, this is HUGE.
Nothing special or proprietary about this whatsoever, except the exorbitant cost. Brick clips have been around for decades and decades ✅. 1/4" spacer on bottom, free with a piece scrap ✅ still need to go up on ladder and flash and caulk,trim.✅. If you can't figure out how to tack a scrap or a piece of strap to hold a window from falling inside or out, you need to get another job because I don't think you could build a snowball. When pella makes one that drops in and flashes and trims itself with no climbing that would be revolutionary. This is nothing but a gimmick using technology that we already use for waaayyyy more money and not fixing the issue which is the risk and time of the outside work at height.
This is a slick system, but from a value vs performance standpoint, i would start away from Pella. Matt, have you seen DenCo windows? European windows at domestic prices.

Pella is a swear word in my region. haven't been on a single job where they didn't have callbacks trying to get them to stop leaking. these, with their tiny flange don't look any better. they remind me of flangeless remodel windows, where the water starts blowing through the gaps as soon as the caulking starts to get old.
Half the work? Maybe. A twice the price? Definitely.
If it was a good, high performance window that guy couldn't put it in by himself because of weight.
Ugh. Read the reviews on Pella - not good long term.
Ill be honest these are alot of nice but unnecessary add-ons
Hahaha.
nothing new. Same windows have been in Europe for more than 20 years. and most importantly, it’s at least two times cheaper than in the USA.😂😂😂
So your still outside on a ladder to seal and trim window? What's point, big deal 4 metal clips vs a complete flange. That's dumbest marketing scam ever
