    The guys on commentary sure are making a lot of excuses for Hopkins. To me it looks like he is intimidated by Efren, and he knows he can not miss or he will lose. I call it playing scared, I see it happen all the time. I am a really good player who plays at the masters level, and I see guys who are very good play me and shoot terrible, because they know if they miss I will run out, and that puts pressure on them to play great and a lot of the time they choke. Then the same guy will play someone not as good as me and run out almost every game on them, when there is no pressure to play great. Hopkins is playing scared, and choking under the pressure of playing Efren, back then Efren was the #1 player in the world and he was beating everyone.

    1 pocket is only fun to play, nobody likes to watch. Also, if i drank beer at work i'd be fired. A terrible example McCready sets, even then.

    Buddy said CJ was unhappy about the 2 ball shot, CJ was pissed about Sigel moving the 8 out of the corner pocket line incase he had to bank the the five back to him in corner. And sigel knew it was seen that's why he didn't bank the following 5 ball ! If he'd of banked the 5 it would of been undoubtedly done on purpose an he knew it.

    Obviously pro pool players are the best in the world. I get that, but let's see them play on some of the junk that, we amateurs have to play on like tables that haven't been anything done to for 4 or 5 years, the dirty, the nasty tables that we amateur players play on. Don't keep changing the rules. Make the tables harder to play on by not recovering them with new rails.Let them play on mud tables like we play on.

    Howard Vickery always did good commentary. Astute, etc. Notice he kinda 'disappeared' ~2002 ..? He was a KID diddler. And I think that was right around the time he went to prison.

    So are we just gonna ignore that Archer picked Reyes to win and the other guy said "Efren is the greatest player he has watched play the game"? He said himself Efren is the goat in 1994, he was just not big winning tournaments during that time, but from this moment on until the next 15 years he has won a major title in all disciplines (8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball etc).

    I {DO] think it's illegal (whether it'll be called or not is another story) to try to alter the point of the side. But it absolutely helps balls that are tight to the rail that have to sneak past the side get by the point. Especially when it's the OB that's passing the side pocket. I'd never thought about doing it for the CB.

  • @trumanhw
    @trumanhwКүн бұрын

    @1:04:50 ... I'm not sure, but it might've been a skid or just throw, but if you watch it in slow motion it sure looks like it's going at the pocket when the CB and OB separate but that throw makes it roll off just a bit within the first few inches. If you don't know how to watch in slow motion: PAUSE the video and then hit the period key ... basically > goes fwd and comma or < goes backwards. But I saw comma or period bc you don't use the shift button. Just the comma or period ... whereas using the shift + comma or period speeds up or slows down playback. To see a list of MOST shortcuts, hit the ? ... shift + / ... and a page will pop over. Hit it again and it'll disappear.

    THANK YOU PAT!!! These are great (especially to get more content of Stalev, who's stroke is beautiful). Billy + Grady: "He should play that in the corner. They play the sides too much." Okay. On buckets! On TIGHT POCKETS !?? You better play that chet in the pocket that's closest!! 🤣 And I just _cannot believe_ how poor Kim's understands of throw is. He's great at keeping things simple. But his finesse game & nuanced knowledge are lacking. I not only knew when he'd miss, but HOW he'd miss. As in, I knew WHY he'd miss. I should make a video about throw & the optimal angle for _half-pocket shots._

    Guess Mark hasn't read Edgar Allan Poe's monograph on Checkers versus Chess. Bad comparison. There's no question that Efren Reyes is the Paul Morphy of pool. But how many people have even heard about championship Checkers? That's something I'd like to see. Efren playing Checkers or Draughts, as its been called. International Draughts has a 10x10 board versus the typical American and British Draughts. Checkers isn't a "simple" game. It isn't like tic-tac-toe.

    Jimmy is an excellent player too. In this match he had a big bad luck. Things that can happen to everyone. But he keeps being a great player and Efren the GOAT. I respect both players. It's all. Thanks ACCU.

    Mark talked about what a great guy Corey is, and what a great sense of humor he has. So I ran into Corey at a pool tournament a few years ago at Big Dog Billiards in Iowa. He was in-between matches sitting there waiting for a cue repair guy to put a new tip on one of his cues. I was also in-between matches and I had just bought a new Meucci cue, a BMC pro series 5 custom cue signed by Bob Meucci. I knew that Corey was sponsored by Meucci so as I was walking by where he was sitting I said Hi Corey, I just got a new Meucci cue and I really like it, and then I asked him how he liked playing with a Meucci, he looked at me and he said one word, fine. And that was it, then I stood there for a little bit waiting to see if he would say anything else. Then he turned his head away from me without saying another word, so I stood there for a few seconds more, and walked away. In closing, he seemed like a jerk who was hoping I would just leave him alone and go away. And he was not doing a damn thing, just sitting and waiting for his cue to be repaired. You would think a guy who was sponsored by Meucci would talk to another player who was using a Meucci cue, and at least ask to see the cue, or say something more than one word and turn his head away, which is a clue that he does not want to talk to you. I was sort of mad about it, and I almost said ok see you later jerk. That was the first thought that came into my head, but I did not do it, and I just walked away thinking he was a jerk.

    In game 8 when Mike was on the 1 ball going to follow down for the 2-9 combo, Grady said he might hit the point of the side pocket with the cue ball. So I was looking at it and I was like WTF, it will not even come close to the point of the side pocket. Then Mike hit the shot and the cue ball hit 4 inches before the side pocket, maybe 5 inches from the point, it was not even close to hitting the point.
