ALEX PAGULAYAN vs SCOTT FROST - 2003 Derby City Classic One Pocket Division

Спорт

Two of the best one pocket players in the game today, were also two of the best one pocket players in the world back in 2003.
Twenty four year old Alex Pagulayan was fresh off his runner-up finish at the 2002 US Open 9-Ball Championship
“The Freezer” Scott Frost was the elder of the two players, at the ripe old age of twenty seven. Even at that young age, he was known as one of the best one pocket players in the world.
Surprisingly, this was the second straight time these two players had faced off in this event, as Frost defeated Pagulayan in the round before, but Pagulyan bought back into the event and they redrew each other in this round.
Bill Incardona and Danny Diliberto were in the booth.

@Scott Frost I didn’t believe you played basketball as a kid, as I thought you look more like a former linebacker or defensive end. But seeing this video I can see it, you looked like a basketball player who plays mean one pocket! 😀

"He has to do it with the bridge and that makes it more difficult". It did then, but not so much now, since Pag plays pro snooker at a high level. :-) I heard Varner commentating a one pocket game where someone that plays snooker a lot, may have been Appleton, picked up a rake, and Varner said something to the effect of, "Oh boy, it's never a good sign when a snooker player picks up a rake". Varner comes up with some good ones. That one made me laugh. I'm only less than half the way through the vid right now, but at least so far, it is heartbreaking to see (that) Pagulayan play (ed) this badly (early on?), and I think I've seen it about one other time in the MANY games I've watched him play, in many disciplines. Truly rare...it looks like he might be about to pull one game out of the hat, though, from way behind. I'm pullin' for him, it's been so brutal, at least to win this game. There is a long way to go in the vid, time wise, so obviously ANYTHING can happen from here. If Scott loses from this point, that would be even more brutal. This is a tough match to root for one over the other, though, because I really like Scott, too. Especially with his recent commentating, which is stellar.
