If you know the diamond system, you don't need spot on the wall, example, if you are at diamond 6 and want to bank on left corner, half of 6 is 3, aim for the 3rd diamond on the long rail. Boom, automatic in the pocket. in order to get spot on the wall, the table needs to be level.

I use that method all the time, works the long way on the table and across the short width of the table. If you want to hit or pocket more balls that you kick at , learn how this use this method. Spot on the wall can also be applied to two / three rail kicks except running english is used on multiple rail kicks. single rail kicks are executed with vertical center line rolling cueball .

This is a good system. I'm of the mindset to always add a little bit of running English to get more consistent results from the cue ball contacting the rail. It is easily adjustable using your system.

The distance to the "spot" changes depending if you are going 1 rail, 2 rails, 3 rails, 4 rails etc and whether you are hitting the short rail first or the long rail first. You need to know the distances in order to use it effectively... For example, if you are shooting 2 rails to the side on an 8' table, the spot on the wall should be 13' 7" past the edge of the short rail when you are shooting at the long rail first. It will be further out for a 9' table and the distance will also change if the table plays normal vs. banking short.

Why didn't I think of that! I can do 3 rail shots from most anywhere on the table. KEY FACTOR is the spot should be "twice" the table length distance from the table. 9 ft table, 18 ft too the "SPOT". Haven't tried it yet but it looks like 4 ft spot would work for ANYWHERE on an 8 ft table!!

What is the chair lined up with? The side and corner pocket?or object ball?

The chair is lined up with the back corner pocket throught the back of the side pocket about 4 to 6 feet away from the pool table

How do you figure out where to look for the spot on the wall? How do you find it??

Mirror another imaginary pool table on the side of this one so you have a square with rail edges touching. Aim at the far corner pocket on the imaginary table, that is the spot on the wall in this instance. Same with any ball on the table. Mirror it's position on the imaginary table and shoot at it. For example. If the ball is in the middle of the table at second Diamond, shoot at that position on the imaginary table and you will be able to kick off the rail to that ball from anywhere on the table. The position on the imaginary table becomes the spot on the wall. I have put small chalk marks on the walls around my table for each diamond position. Of course I don't tell anyone what the marks mean. I hope this makes sense. I'm not sure how well I have explained this. Ps. This also works the same for bank shots. If your banking in the corner cut it into the corner on the imaginary table.

Hi Rick, In order to find the spot on the wall you must first fine a known kick line that will take you to your target. I used the back of the left corner pocket to the diamond that is the back of the side pocket. That line will take the cue ball to my object ball in the corner. Now that I know that line, I can look out in the distance approximately the width of a pool table to find a spot to stare at. Then I can move the cue ball pretty much anywhere and make the ball in the corner by looking at the spot I found a width of the pool table away.

I am always telling people how awesome spot on the wall is. It works with any known line. Mirroring the center short rail diamond. Mirroring the back of the side pocket. Two railers, 3 railers, basically any path that you understand. This means if you have an object ball one diamond away from the corner Pocket on the long rail, you can sight a mirror line from the other long rail and through the center diamond on the far short rail to find your spot, and then proceeded to shoot from anywhere on the table. It also works really well for Bank shots once you realize that it only gives you the base line, you still have to account for rail interactions in order to make bank shots. Because bankshots tend to come short because of rail compression. But for people that are already good at banking, switching to spot on the wall is a quick and easy way to find your line.

You extend your sight to a point in the distance. But the best is if you can find a spot that is exactly twice the distance from the table. A pool table in a pool room is good because they are evenly spaced and fairly close together. Also, you can set up any spot not just this one. If you learn this it will be an asset to your entire pool life.

@@jacobjones5269 am I really talking to Jeremy Jones' brother? If so, pretty neat. Those days aren't fully over, but as time goes on all kinds of people are trying Billiards as a sport. In sports you have coaches. This sport you can bet on of course, but with all the info out there now... I am just trying to bring it in the most logical way possible. There are real schools over sees that teach this game we love. Nothing like that here in the states.

It does work. You may be looking to far out into space. Also, all pool tables play different. Try again but find a spot somewhere no further than 6 foot away.
