The worst type of log is the “dead head” this is a log that is completely waterlogged and floats vertically, and is awash. It may have 20, 30, or forty feet of length. If you were to come crashing down on top of this log in a 5’ seaway, it would mean 10’ from peak to trough onto the end of a log maybe 12” to 20” in diameter with the weight and speed of your boat behind it. Watch out for dead heads and I don’t mean Gratefull Dead “dead heads”. ‘

Well done. The two of you can give yourselves a big pat on the back for facilitating the rescue of three people , which eventually made it possible for them to rescue their boat and equipment. That's a big deal because it has a big impact on their livelihoods and protects them from major financial losses of their assets. Hopefully your good karma will reward you in the future when you need help. What goes around comes around. All the best. P.S. It's also surprising that the other boaters did nothing to help them.

Great project and passionate execution. While I am not a sail person myself and I would never sail (especially to cold seas - why are you even doing that? ;)) I still admire your work and enjoy some of your sea trips. Nice to see when people fulfill their dreams and live their way. We do have similar couples from Poland sailing and living on boats (even with kids!) but all of them are doing the warm part of the world (unsurprisingly). Must be so much easier than what you are doing. But then, hey, you are from Finland and ICEland, so... anyway, respect and best of luck to you both. Greetings from Poland.

I guess it’s like how I am with cars. I love watching YT videos on working on cars but I have no interest in watching a car race. In this case, the refit and the sailing are equally interesting.

This boat design reminds e of the Alubat which is built in France. The price of those boats is about 750,000 Euros. So you got a great deal.

The knowledge is remarkable. It is always so satisfying to watch someone who knows what their doing accomplish tasks which would baffle the rest of us. The thought to do this would never cross my mind, of course I’m not a sailer, but this is next level. Amazing!!!

A true sailing channel. Authentic. Btw when in doubt about the gybe and not wanting to go on deck I have in the past, I had children aboard and never regretted this gybe, turned motor on and made the board turn the other way around. Making it tack, waves can be nasty, but it doesn't break things. Just bumpy. Cheers.

Such a nice sailboat.. BUT, I heard of this anchor called "Ultra" Anchor that some sites seem to love and claim that it is best (but expensive). If it was the same price as your anchor, would you have chosen the Ultra Anchor ie if money was not the issue is it actually better as your main anchor?

It's interesting to see the dichotomy in subscriber counts on here. On one hand you have interesting channels that struggle to hit 200k subscribers. Then you have other channels that essentially do mindless stupid stuff, hitting more than a million subscribers. I guess if you act like a complete fool online, you can make lots of money. I sometimes wonder if the average age of KZread viewers is less than 15.🤔
