Alright, it's been brought to my attention by many of you that the savoury sausage delicacy presented in this video is actually available elsewhere in the world as well, and is called a "pig in a blanket" or a "toad in a hole", or some other loving name, depending on where in the world you are! I didn't know that they'd be available here in North America as well so now I must get my hands on some immediately! 😉 Personally I still like the name "sausage surprise" the best though. Nakkipiilo forever! Anyway, thanks for watching, and a commercial message follows... 🤓If you want to support the creation of these videos you can do so on Patreon. Wow, who would have thought?! The address is: www.patreon.com/alluringarctic . Patrons get access to a boat tracker, ad-free videos (whenever our Internet connection is good enough for me to upload twice), private WhatsApp chat group etc. And most of all, your penny goes a long way in helping me spend the long hours editing these 💻🎥. Hope you enjoyed and have a great week!

Congratulations, Sohvi. In addition to all the hard work on dissertation, both you and Yuho worked incredibly hard in that hot summer weather to get Lumi ready for sea. She looks beautiful under sail.

Yes indeed,........ More great footage of that magnificent Yacht. Also. The Captains Snow Queen is blonde , beautiful and,..........Brainy ! This Skipper is truly blessed .
Congratulations, Sohvi, well done! Thank you both for taking us to the beautiful, wild, northwest in a way few, if any, of us will ever experience.
Many congratulations to Doctor Sohvi! That must have taken a lot of intense work in a difficult studying environment. As ever your cinematography is outstanding! Sail safe!
Well done Sohvi all the best to you both
Congrats on the submittal of your doctoral dissertation. Admiral achievement 👏. We call the sausage submerged in a roll, pig-in-a-blanket. I loved the aerial footage. Breathtakingly beautiful place to celebrate 📜🍾 🎉. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't know it's available here! I must get hold of this delicacy!
It’s always a pleasure to see another instalment from Alluring Arctic. Sailing the relatively calm Inside Passage of British Columbia can be a handful in the fall and winter with small craft warnings appearing almost daily. I have never experienced the wind phenomenon described, but it can be tricky at times dodging stray logs, and deadheads. All power to Alluring Arctic on their odyssey to follow in the footsteps of John Cabot, Henry Hudson, Sir Francis Drake, Captain James Cook, Sir John Franklin, and of coarse the first person to successfully sail the fabled Northwest Passage , the Norwegian Roald Amundsen. A literal who’s who of sailing explorers.

The only thing wrong with this video is you can only leave one like, bloody awesome!
Congrats Sohvi! Sausage in bread here in Alabama is called "pig in the blanket" In Louisiana they make boudin kolaches. Its cool to find where things come from. We have everything here in America but know very little about its origins.
Congratulations Sohvi!
In the Southern US, we call the sausage surprise, a "pig in a blanket". Congratulations Sohvi! Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventures!
Cinematic excellence. Congratulations on Sohvi's doctorate.
You two are some tough adventurers. You make it look easy, you act so cool about it all - but what you do takes strength! Looks like its worth it though :)
Fantastic drone shots !! Your camera work is spectacular and unique among the hundreds of boat/sailing youtube channels now available. Please keep the drone video coming , there is many desk top screen shots that are saved onto my computer 😀😀😛. Congratulations to Dr Sohvi 😄
As you go down the Alaska Peninsula through the Shelikof Strait, be ready for Williwas in excess of 100mph coming out of any of the bays you will cross. The winds over the Alaska peninsula can get nuts depending on barometric gradient between Bristol Bay and the Shelikof Strait. Have had more than one beautiful day go to H in a handbasket and from flat calm to well over 100mph in less than an hour. If you take the time to anchor in Kanatak Lagoon, visit the abandoned village of Kanatak at the head of the bay. The Lagoon is a great anchorage that I've rode out more than one storm. So great bays to wander into along that coastline if you have the time.
Love seeing the williwaw. Playing hiding the sausage is always a treat. Congratulations Doctor 👍🏻
Sohvi has such a great attitude
Thank you, thank you, for allowing me to come along. Loved every second of this video. Stay safe and be well.
Enjoy your down to earth narration. Your journey is like a Disneyland ride only it’s the real deal. I also enjoy your drone footage. Have you ever lost one due to the unpredictable weather? Smooth sailing to both of you.
Sausage baked in a croissant in continental America is called “Pigs in a blanket”. Hawaii does a larger but similar version called “Puka Dog”. Nice treat no matter what you call it. Happy Harbor Stay !

In the UK (well, England at least) 'pigs in blankets' is mini sausages wrapped in bacon. A sausage in puff pastry is a 'sausage roll'.
I just want to thank you again for including the maps now more consistently! It helps with getting an overview
Congratulations on the PhD milestone! It's hard for me to imagine the amount of work this must have taken!
Prince Rupert is beautiful, as a Merchant Marine officer our ship ran between Japan carrying containers. Congratulations to Sophia on her degree, you certainly picked the best crew member for Alaska.

Congrats to Sohvi for good work. I have missed in what field she will become a doctor. Thanks for a very very very good video as always. Looking forward for the next one.
That's a good old "Pig in a Blanket" glad to see the sails up!!
Congrats Sohvi quite the milestone. And yes, they are hotdogs, not sausages, and it’s pigs in a blanket
Thanks for putting out episodes of your adventures through the PNW . It's rare to see any sailing vlogs in the region.
My wife loves sausage surprise a lot..😊. Unbelievable footage, your boat is your Ark in those waters, every warm coffee and snuggle sleep must be magical..
Learning about and seeing williwaws was enjoyable, thanks. It's nice to know at this point in time Sohvi was progressing and I hope she reached her academic goals.
Congratulations to Sohvi! Nice to have the dissertation finished, now only remains the fun part of the defence which usually is very nice.
Congratulations on your submission towards the PHD. Good luck.

Congrats Sovhi, on this step accomplished. And, the silly name we call that sausage snack in the US, is Pig in a Blanket. :D
Wow. Congratulations on your Doctoral submission Sohvi. I was in Price Rupert in 1981 a smaller port then. I hope you both enjoy your voyage north. Kick ass content as always.🎉👍🤙
Congratulaions Sophi!!! it is a big step for phd!!!! amazing the place to summit it!!!
Some epic filming, and congratulations to the Dr 🤗🤘👍
It looks freezing out there, but with you both being hardy Finns I'am sure you are feeling at home. I am enjoying watching your adventures from the comfort of my warm house.
Sohvi congratulations, lots of hard work. Smart and beautiful! You two are an awesome team. Look forward to seeing the Dr. attached to your name. I live close to the pacific in Oregon, USA our waters are challenging on the this coastline all the way up to and through Alaska, you two make it look easy! Happy sailing ⛵️
Congratulations, Sohvi, well done! All the best for the tiny rest of the process to eventually become a doctor.
That was a stunning anchorage, good memories for you both.
congratulations to Sohvi for the submission!!! Fingers crossed all goes well And again thank you for sharing your brilliant content. F
I just watched back to back all your vids... and they are extremely inspiring. The ambience you create with the story, the music and the journey footage is incredible. I felt like I was on the complete journey with you. I've never wanted to sail in cold, snowy, rainy environments before... but now I would love to do it. The scenery is mesmerising! Good luck to both of you... and good luck to you Sohvi!
Thinking of you Sohvi! Hope the comments are kind and change requirements are reasonable. Keep smiling☺️. You can do it!
Loved this one. Pleased your both keeping warm in the freezing cold weather. In UK " Pigs in blankets" are little sausages with Bacon wrapped round them, then cook them. You eat them with Roast chicken or any other cooked dinner that you like.
Sohvi is already a doctorate of sailing adventure! Yay!
I grew up calling a sausage or hotdog in a croissant a pig n a blanket. You channel is great

Wow. This high latitude sailing is riveting. More glorious drone footage too. Well done, guys.
Juho we call those the sausage hideouts "Pigs in a blanket" or "Sausage Kolaches" and they are darn good eating. Beautiful video and excellent example of katabatic winds from the steep slopes. Thanks for sharing!
I always enjoy your episodes. I think it is also your calm, no nonsense and humorous style.
Congratulations, Sohvi! What does your dissertation cover? Juho, you don’t look proud of her at all. 😂🥹😍 (you beam just saying her name.). Lumi looks beautiful sailing along in the passageways. These episodes are amazing. ❤❤❤🎉🍾🥶🤗
Beautiful scenery, beautiful music. Everybody is heading South for warm weather, and you are going North : )
Wow Prince Rupert in February. Good on you. Not many Canadians would take that on. Congratulation Sohvi nice work for completing your doctorate. Thats huge.
We Americans call those little morsels of happiness "pigs in a blanket". But the addition of the croissant is a better treat.
You guys really rock all day. Man you made great videos, super music and knowledge comments. Thank you for taking us with you on this epic journey
Congratulations Sohvi! A phd is no small undertaking. More power to you.
Congratulations Sohvi! Well done under normal circumstances, but truly exceptional living and traveling as you do. 🍻
You played some nice music there as well. Congratulations Sophie for your doctorate. Well done 👍
Congrats to you both. Canada is awesome!
Yay Sohvi. Almost a doctor or, I assume, a phd. A doctor of what? Nothing like a fresh baked pig in a delicate crumbly blanket. Love the videography--sure highlights our epic coast, Cheers from Vancouver, BC, Canada
Another fantastic short film. Loving your channel. Pigs in a blanket dipped in spicy mustard, a real treat
Stunning photography my friend... Really loved that... And congrats Sohvi... Be safe both... :)

Congratulations Sohvi on the next step in journey to your doctorate.
Fantastic achievement to get that far in four months in increasingly harsh conditions and congratulations Sohvi on getting to pre-submission. Good luck and fair winds.
I love the way that you are always so relaxed and calm.
Thank you for showcasing my Province, British Columbia. It is as amazing as these videos suggest. I have sailed in Williwas without ever knowing that was what they were called. Be well. I expect you are up past Stewart Inlet by now and perhaps onto Haida Gwaii. Enjoy yourselves.
Hey, congrats on the submission of the dissertation! I hope that process goes well for you! Grenville Channel is a magical place. I once saw and heard a pack of wolves there, while wearing a long sleeve native designed shirt with wolves on it! Like I summoned them or something! Yes, those katabatic winds in the winter can be so unpredictable. Most of them are produced on the 'Juneau Ice Field', a 40 mile wide and 250 mile long sheet of ice that is between the coast and the interior. It's an impressive place. What happens is the air condenses on the ice field, and then falls out of the mountain passes, sometimes at great speed. Here in Juneau, we call this wind 'the Taku wind', and we can have up to 80 knot winds in the winter and just 6 miles from where I live, there is a river called 'the Taku river'. Sometimes during the winter, the wind will blow out of there at 160 kilometers! And it's a very cold wind too! So, I took my 30' sailboat out for the first time, this year, two days ago and got caught in some of the Taku winds that still blow off the mountains. It blew at up to 35 knots and caused the winds to blow the tops of the waves off and over my dodger cover and hit me in the face! Fortunately I didn't have sails up (I knew better) but those gusts come on so quickly. You'll find that as spring and summer come, the katabatic winds die off and the weather patterns become: SE winds = rain, NW winds=clear weather. I usually sail about 30% of the time and motor about 70%! Good video and good drone footage!
The combination of the drone views and the music is perfect! You have a really sense of good feeling for these two! Congrats to having an (almost) doctor on the boat 😅 Ow and one other thing, when we saw you working the sausage into the croissant you, it's logical that you have not become a jeweller 😂
Damn, those catabatic winds are bad. You can have them in a second. Enjoyed those in Adriatics a little.
This was one more amazing video of your journey last year. You have captured the elemental beauty so well. Wonderful!!
I think a PhD deserves an indoor hot shower!!! Congratulations Sohvi, you're almost there!

Congratulations on reaching Prince Rupert. Congratulations on the dissertation submission. Thank you for taking the time to post videos on your progress. My grandkids and I really enjoy your videos.
Favorite sailing channel. Keep up the beautiful work. And I'm a fan of no bikinis just real life sailing.
Awesome footage of Dall's porpoises..very cute animals. Your music and filming 🎥 SPECTACULAR

@@AlluringArctic There is a pre made dough that comes in a cylinder from Pillsbury called Crescent Rolls. People use that to wrap around the sausages. Usually the end of the sausage hangs out both ends of the dough. Then you just bake them. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find up in Alaska. If it's there it would be pretty expensive. Alaska's food prices are crazy compared to the rest of the States.
Congratulations Sophie - what an accomplishment! Proud of you and all your hard work. I enjoy your channel. Thank you
exeptional nice movie!!! great fottage and beautiful music. Your boat is stunning, I do like her. Considering her state she was in, when you bought it, you did a great work restoring her.
