    I'm on the gen 4 also and I am so blown away. Been riding BBSHD since it came out and got the CYC on launch day. I'm really looking forward to new batteries on my system this fall. I'm running dual 52 volt 19AH batteries with only a 40 amp bms. The battery I'm building is a 40AH with a 150 amp bms . That should cover the total power of this motor! LOVE the CYC. My bike climbs anything I through at it. Even on 52 volts I see the meter hit 4500 and 4800 watts at full charge.

    Thanks for the fast reply. That is an interesting solution. I know the pain of trying to find robust and reliable drivetrain solutions for hi power eMTB applications. It is very niche area. There are alot of hi power e bikes getting around now. But in the eMTB specific trail/enduro space it's difficult. I went through a number of unreliable drivetrain configs. And that's with about 15% power of what your bike has. I eventually landed on a kindernay vii IGH. Which has had alot of minor problems, but has remained overall reliable so far. Im now looking to go 72v CYC on an upcoming build. I did just purchase one of the last remaining kindernay vii from the post bankruptcy inventory. But that was more so I can keep the current bafang ultra / e22 combo alive incase of parts failures. I dont need 7 gears. I really only need 3 gears, with wide ratio pacing. A climb gear. An acceleration gear. And a top speed gear. And that pretty much covers all the trail/enduro terrain i ride.

    @@BramBiesiekierski No, I have to stop and move the chain by hand/fot. Not while rolling. It works like 2 single speed, not 2 speed. But 80kph as low is ok for most.riding.

  • @BramBiesiekierski
    @BramBiesiekierskiАй бұрын

    Ok, i understand. How do you find not having changeable gearing specifc while doing eMTB trail riding use? I can imagine the motor has no major issues pulling all the way. But human legs don't have that same wide operating range. I know I hate the feeling of my bike travelling faster than I can pedal (eg stuck in too low gear) and equally climbing can be hard when not matched to the pedalling speed (even if the motor has no problem pulling) I came here after watching your recent CYC at Malaga video. So this Q is more relevant to that setup.

    That is a very good question. They are very different. The cyc is by far the best for trial type riding. Techy and lot's of torque needed very fast. Still way more power than most need. And you also have the super.good pas. The BB feels 2x the power and is brutal. Great for wider areas and very high speed riding. On my bike it was too big for techy riding, but maybe with another gearing. I really enjoyed it and have it ready for another day.

  • @nielsbaardseth
    @nielsbaardsethАй бұрын

    @@kitler01 It really comes down to your frame and how you plan to ride. The BB is big and need a special drive train. So far you can not pedal with a BB unless you go for the extra stage gear box. It is close to a mc motor with all its glory and you can ride it full blast all day long. The Cyc is still a mtb motor and can fit a frame better if you are going real off road. It has superb Pas and can be ridden pretty hard on a 8x drivetrain. The BB pulls more wh if you ride it hard, but they are not that different. 30-45 wh a km depending on style throttle riding.

    How did you get the correct cogs on the rear wheel hub? Did you use special freewheel adapter or something similar?

    I allready had the cogs and adjusted the front sproket. The rear hub is a single speed hub with a White Industries freewheel. It has an adaptor for 104 sprokets. Custom made. Litterally bullettproof.

    @@motoguru4016 It will work just as well, but is a bit bigger. Not more power as the X1 is allready maxed out.

    Can you unveil a bit of mistery about your battery in this setup? What BMS do you have in it, how many amps continuously can this pack produce?

    Outstanding. I was just looking on the Lightning Rods page, and was thinking about finally doing a build with one of his great motors. Thanks for sharing these stats and specs.
