CYC X1 Gen 4 72v going pretty hard up an EBIKE downhill track.
Was max of what I got in me....but far from what the motor can really do. 59c motor temp at the end.
Watch me go down same track with a Trek Slash with a CYC Stealth kit on here: • CYC Motor Stealth Gen3...

I've destroyed 5 rear axles but I think it is because my wheels are junk. Building up a sur ron rear wheel for this motor, surprisingly fits on a 135mm mtb with no mods.

I'm on the gen 4 also and I am so blown away. Been riding BBSHD since it came out and got the CYC on launch day. I'm really looking forward to new batteries on my system this fall. I'm running dual 52 volt 19AH batteries with only a 40 amp bms. The battery I'm building is a 40AH with a 150 amp bms . That should cover the total power of this motor! LOVE the CYC. My bike climbs anything I through at it. Even on 52 volts I see the meter hit 4500 and 4800 watts at full charge.

72 volts is the secret sauce! Manual specs out 84 volt batteries too!!! I love that the controller just handles any battery set up, just turn it on and it works. No jerry rigging anything.

How much louder is the CYC than the Bafang BBSHD. I live in the tropics and don't have hills or mountains. But I am attracted to the quality of the CYC motor and speed. But if it is too loud that would not be enjoyable for my use.

I have never ridden a 72v HD so I can not say. But it is way louder than the stock HD. Of course 4 times stronger too....... Try to find a HD video with some real power and hard riding and I will be impressed. So much talk, so little proof. 🤔

nice bike im new to these bikes I know it depends on ur riding but roughly how many miles do u get on a full charge and does the pedleling work with motor or is it just throttle thanks
@nielsbaardseth

The CYC motors probably have the best pedal assist system of all diy kits. Very close to factory emtbs. But on this bike I use throttle only. This type of riding pulls battery, I get 20km. But if It was pedaling I would get 50-60km. No problem commuting.
what are the total build costs. I am yet not into mtb's or specs world. I just want to figure out how much a high powered setup should cost me.

Excact total is hard to say. But roughly you need a good DH bike. 1000-2000eur (or way more....) Kit with battery 2000-2500 eur In this case special rear wheel 500 eur.

I have ridden Cyc kits to the max since 2019. Been part of the development of the Gen 4. I have had that motor since August 2023 and I have not been able to break anything so far and as you can see I don't hold back. The gen 4 have been bullet proof. The HD is a good motor, I have had one, but it needs heavy tuning to get to an ok power level and still we are at 50% of the Cyc in overall power and no torque sensor. (50% as the HD can only take 90 phase amps, the X1 200)

Enjoy! In this vid I have a 72v, 15ah 120A peak battery. 20ah would have been better, but 80 A cont and 120-130A peak is enough. It uses about 35-40wh a km with this type of riding.

@nielsbaardseth
28 күн бұрын
@@log7186 I built it myself based on several previous builds I have done. It is important to plan the type of use and spesialize the build in that direction. This bike is for mx/enduro. 60kph top speed only, pulls like a beast within that speed. I has lasted for 4 years now. (Several motors)
Cool👍 Does the engine run normally in one gear? Heating, overload? I'm thinking of buying the same engine and am faced with choosing a transmission. SRAM 12 speed is probably not suitable for such CYC power
@nielsbaardseth
Ай бұрын
Thanks! I have 2 gears, both pretty low. 45kph and 60kph. But I do not pedal on this bike. Many are using 8 speed cassette/chain with the X1. It is a challenge though, you can not ride like this with a normal drive train. The motor has heat protection at 85c. It has not been a problem with heat on this gen 4 kit. But of course, a bit of feel is needed. Join the cyc owners FB and get all tips there.

What do you mean by a normal drivetrain? What is "special" about yours that make it so it can handle the power?
@nielsbaardseth
Ай бұрын
@@tonytober A mtb drivetrain can not handle 11kw power. My drivetrain is custom made to take the power. A normal mtb gearing would not make that run. That is why you don't see many vids like this. Single speed hub and chain, White Industries one way. Steel 104 chainring in the back. Held up for 4 years now. Only changing chains..

That is a very good question. They are very different. The cyc is by far the best for trial type riding. Techy and lot's of torque needed very fast. Still way more power than most need. And you also have the super.good pas. The BB feels 2x the power and is brutal. Great for wider areas and very high speed riding. On my bike it was too big for techy riding, but maybe with another gearing. I really enjoyed it and have it ready for another day.
@kitler01
Ай бұрын
@@nielsbaardseth I’m torn between the two I guess they work out to similar money once a controller is bought. Was the bb a lot of work to fit as I know the cyc is very diy friendly and what kind of range do you get, your run a 72v 15ah pack don’t you
@nielsbaardseth
Ай бұрын
@@kitler01 It really comes down to your frame and how you plan to ride. The BB is big and need a special drive train. So far you can not pedal with a BB unless you go for the extra stage gear box. It is close to a mc motor with all its glory and you can ride it full blast all day long. The Cyc is still a mtb motor and can fit a frame better if you are going real off road. It has superb Pas and can be ridden pretty hard on a 8x drivetrain. The BB pulls more wh if you ride it hard, but they are not that different. 30-45 wh a km depending on style throttle riding.
