13:18 i'm a little mad they didn't make her the next Doctor after Whitaker. She had a great attiitude, outfit looked cool and she just had the aura of somebody I'd adventure with. Part of me hopes they somehow rewrite that bit with her being the first Doctor and maybe line her up for after Ncuti's run, if she's still up for it or something. I'm assuming this is VERY unlikely, but I guess it'd be nice if she could show up for an episode in Ncuti's run somehow for some reason....not sure of any other reasons or details...I just think she looks cool from what I loosely remember from her episode. (haven't watched that episode in a few years, wanted to like Chibnall's run more, but i don't think I really liked it.)

Eurovision is way too political. But the concept screams for it, so it isn't surprising at all. And the west just has had a colonizing superiority complex forever. The fact that Israel even takes parts says a lot. You don't gotta pretend the east isn't conservative, though. I mean, yes, Eurovision lies, but no, the Balkans aren't more progressive than the west.

one thing i recently heard said from a female professor i work with, she was giving a speech to a feminist in her writing class who believed peter jackson hates women because he didnt put any focus on the female leads, the speech was as follows: "the jackson trilogy works so well in terms of female representation because the main women are true to themselves and stand out for good reason, you dont need an army of women just to prove a point, take eowyn for example, she defeated the witch king of angmar, a foe so powerful he casually kills scores of men like its just a normal day for him, and eowyn isnt overpowered or defying men, shes just a women who got a lucky shot in, which is empowering because its realistic, she got a one in a million shot in and became a hero for it, yet by modern standards that isnt enough, if we were to modernise eowyn she wouldnt cry at her fathers death but probably cheer that she is finally in charge, tolkien knew how to write well, its obvious since high fantasy is built of the foundations he laid out for us, and peter jackson did the best he could at adapting those works, and regardless of modern political beliefs and idiotic statements, 20 years later the trilogy is still holding strong and still remembered fondly as a masterpiece of cinema" edit: the professor who gave this speech had since been forced by the university to retract these comments as it didnt comply with the universities "diversity program" and as of last month the diversity program has been scrapped as out of the thousand or so students, only 10 meet the criteria outlined

There are a lot of issues that I am very happy to take with this video, but goddamn I can't argue with the SM/CC eras. I think that a lot of the Classic Who needs to be considered more in the times they were written, but Jodie Whittaker was Done Bad by the writers. She could have been so much more, but the writers held back - in one way by trying to copy the historical episodes of the past and badly inserting the modern characters in that

I think I just watched the most based Dr Who video essay. Thank you for that excellent work <3 And also, in France, video essayists don't spend 20 minutes listing their patreons, so I always skip that part. But you bring a nice ring to it, I'm still listening to this list of unknown names and pseudonymes. I think there is a world where listening names said with different voice styles and some jokes is a very good way to relax and meditate.
