The best thing about nottingham is its many charming historic pubs as well as its craft brewing scene.

@Wandering Turnip awesome video mate. The boss was sitting here looking at all these places she hasn't seen for years (and she is a staunch Nottingham girl)! The draw to come back gets stronger every year. Much love from NZ!

You should visit the capital of Lincolnshire, Lincoln, the video of Grantham doesn't show Lincolnshire in the best light. Lincoln is also birthplace of the tank, has the best Cathedral in the country, a great castle which houses a copy of the Magna Carta from 1215 and the high street is one of the longest in the country at 1.5 miles.

Well done both, excellent piece of reporting. On the subject of vinyl, its popularity never died out it just diversified. 12” vinyl was produced on a massive scale (dozens if not hundreds a week) from the mid 80s until the last few years as many DJs now use CD/DVDs (a tragedy) The whole rave scene was built on 12” vinyl. Shopkeeper, maybe, if you had diversified your musical genres you’d be a millionaire now😊

Same in Hull. What used to be a decent city centre full of shops is now just empty units, takeaways and crackheads.

I’m born and bread Sheffield but work in Nottingham (actually work in the NTU building you walked in). I find it interesting my viewpoint of Nottingham compared to those that live and breath Notts. I first worked in Nottingham 12 years ago and where I worked, I had to walk through the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre and I always thought it was a massive dive. They had a Wimpy still open - in 2012! I appreciate it might’ve killed some trade off surrounding it but honestly Nottingham is better off without it. Turn it into a green area or park and people will return to that area better than the broadmarsh did.

It’s really good of you to come back mate. That guys comment nails it completely but you definitely wasn’t to know how it is in Nottingham in the same ways we wouldn’t know how things are where you live. Typing as I watch The left lion is a pretty famous amongst notts meeting place. If your going to meet with someone it’s always the left lion 👍🏻👍🏻 Didn’t know about Fac1968 as it’s opened after the last time I went to Nottingham so that’s pretty awesome! Victoria centre market is actually closing too soon but the council haven’t given the traders a proper date to go, so that’s why it was so empty. Still seems strange how far broadmarsh has gone. I remember when it used to be heaving. So sad! Page 45 looks awesome still. Not been in there for years! I’m really glad with the points Rob raised in this video. Nottingham and the midlands constantly get forgotten about so it’s good to see it being raised thanks to your videos. This was an awesome video mate, thanks for coming back. You wasn’t totally wrong, you just missed a few bits out that you didn’t know about. So thanks for giving us a chance again Oh he covers it anyway 😂

The exhorting business rates are driving a lot of businesses out of the city centre and into retail outlets, plus not being able to drive into city centres puts people off, it’s all right saying get the bus but how do you get all your stuff onto the bus then home if everyone else is doing it, ps the kids programme that called it rottingham called it pretty much right 😊

As a lifelong local of Nottingham I'm super pleased to see this one! Big fan of what you do, been watching since quite early on in your channel I think, and as someone else said I don't think your initial visit was unfair or wrong it just was a bit incomplete. Notts certainly has its fair share of warts but there's lots of good stuff too so it was great to see you get to witness both. One thing I will shout out even though it's not something you focus on is the music scene, which outside of friends and family is the main thing that's kept me here. Underground music, electronic and live, is really big in Nottingham and it punches way above its weight in terms of frequency and variety of events. There's always been a lot of people dedicated to taking the risk of putting on gigs, events and parties purely for the love of it. I don't get to do so much of that anymroe but it's still a huge part of what makes the city great for me. Thanks for coming back!

I lived in Nottingham for 4 years, between '13-'17 as a PhD student. Loved it to bits, but it was already in decline, Brexshit accelerated it massively, along with the pandemic and government incompetence. The place @12:00, is Lace Market, and it's always been quiet because it's residential. However, you've shown many places that have now closed that I remember open. Anyone remember Johnson Arm's on Abbey Street, just opposite QMC? It went to piss after the previous publicans gave up their lease to utter tits - who have removed any charm or character of the place. It takes years to build that up. What a scandal.

I used to go to Nottingham weekly, even if it was to just look around. Today it's desolate. Since they demolished the Broardmarsh they effectively took out half the city

  • @glassmuxxic

Broadmarsh shopping centre closed, has been demolished and much of the commercial activity/footfall (including a number of the closed stores) moved to the square/Hockley where you went quiet/didn't give a full picture. Whilst the city is struggling due to poverty, having way more commercial real estate that is necessary and persistent mismanagement - this 'decline porn' approach doesn't give an accurate representation of the state of the city.

Nottingham is depressing to visit, shut up shops, people sleeping in doorways during the day. Sad with Debenhams closed. Full of scroats who are all dressed the same, cheap skinny black tracksuits. Very low level of police presence.
