I’ve been using, making, modifying, living, and breathing knives since just after the summer of love. This channel is for me to unabashedly share my thoughts on cutlery. I have no sponsors and am beholden to no one. All knives are purchased by me. Anything I break is tossed in the trash and never sent in for warranty claims even though I've even had the owners of two of the best knife companies offer to replace a knife destroyed in a video. I politely declined.
If you see a knife in a video that you would like to buy, it would really help my channel if you were to go to my Storefront on Amazon and purchase it here www.amazon.com/shop/knifetimestory.
That makes it so it is easier for me to continue to purchase knives for the channel and keep on keeping on as they say. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!

I have three, all colors and I really like them the way they are. I also ordered three more from Temu just to experiment. Hate to say it but I truly feel they are identical accept for logo. You no doubt use yours more than I do so I can’t really debate. Gotta defer - love your video though. //ji
You make a lot of sense and you are danged entertaining. Loved your discussion. Glad I came across your channel.
I will say Armatus sheaths are some of the best for these, hence why they have a brand deal with ESEE. Kydex has to break in which is why it was tight and the thumb rap is there because that's how it's intended to be used. Less to do with the sheath and more user error / preference.
Not Armatus. But thanks for playing.
If you left hot garbage in the sun then gave it a voice it would sound like this man 🤢🤮
This channel blows !!
Almost as much as your mother. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such an eloquent comment. You must be exhausted from such an effort to come up with that. 👍🏻
Lol too much time to complain Use your mind bud make sure a belt loop is in-between the too straps then the sheath won't move 🤪 Most annoying voice i have ever heard Protein .......eat more protein get out of moms basement get in the sun in a week or too you should be able the pull the knife out easier 😂😂 Ill never get 2min 30 sec back i wasted watching you Boo!

It was Indian rose wood and Gibson guitars
Thank you for the kind words and feedback! We appreciate it. As for bark river. We pointed out the QC issues in a few videos but i too sometimes fesr we get a selected knife. For this reason i dont always order them myself but let someone else order it. I dis find the qc got better with the last few knives we got. 2 years back it felt like none of them had a good finish. If i can believe BPS new bushmates should be shipping with a new sheath 😁 the retention was crap on that sheath i 100% agree
Thank YOU for contacting me. I sincerely appreciate it. Glad you get the feeling you are getting hand selected Bark River Knives. I've had 20+ and each and every one has had some sort of issue either with the blade, handle or sheath. Never gotten a perfect one. Since you feel the QC may be getting better, maybe, just maybe I'll try and buy one again. I'll have to think about it. I hope you are right about the BPS being shipped with a new style sheath. Yep, that original one was useless. Hope all is well in your part of the world and thanks again for watching and commenting.
I have a tool chest for all my knives. Once it is full I will probably get rid of the least useful just to make room for more knives.
That’s a beautiful job, brother! 👊🏻
Thank you very much!
It looks like the cts xhp handle has more texture grip to it
It definitely does.
Nice camera work. Very detailed sheath modifications, sir.
Thank you for the compliments!
I would but they are 200 aud here
Yikes. That sounds kinda pricey!
Is that more of a Sabre grind, “out of the box” and with your thinning of the blade, is it more of a scandi grind at this point?
Good question. They call it a scandi out of the box, but it is WAY too thick and has a huge secondary bevel. So, to your point, the best way to describe it is a sabre grind that is meant to try and closely resemble the lines of a scandi. As you could see in the video, it took a lot of time and steel removal to get it to an actual scandi!!
How many are dead from KNOWN defects in Automobiles? Some suit getting millions in bonuses figured out it’s cheaper to settle with the grieving families than fix the fucking problem. Do we handcuff him to said vehicle Until the wheels fo gall off? No, we bitch about a knife sheath.
😂 You need to put down the crack pipe, and learn some spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar, but most importantly...keep in mind this was a KNIFE video and not a documentary about the Ford Pinto.
Those Advil are going to suck up all of the cancer causing crap in the knife
Yes, you are right. So are my hands that I'll be using to dispense the Advil. But...my headache will be gone!!
Just subscribed brotha! I just started trying to make videos myself
Thanks for the sub.
Is all 01 sweedish tooling steel? None of it is American made... just curious as I use 01 from K and G for knifemaking thank you.
I called it that because of Randall Made Knives using that wording in their catalog since I can remember. O1 was invented in the USA and is made here as well. But Randall chooses (I think they still get it from there) to buy from Uddeholm in Sweden.
The little brown enzo seems like decent back up wood knife doing some fine detail work or maybe a good small game knife I kinda like it
Thank you. Glad you watched!
I stopped buying frequently, made a sort of bucket list of knives and have mostly stuck to it. I'm happier with the purchases but I do the same as you, have lots of nice knives and a Hultafors GK, OK 4 and a Mora 2000 are the fixed blades most used. I'll just stick to the list which I'm in no rush to complete, if ever and if an obvious need is there then I'll purchase, otherwise no more. Have enough to last 3 lifetimes.
Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a nice collection of users!!
Thank you for sharing your wit and stories ! Been goin through your old stuff on u tube… one of these days I could see you or a fan of yours putting together the best of your wit … seriously I never owned a buck 110 , but have own a couple of the copies.. Schrade, LB seven. And a seldom seen craftsman knife made in the early 1980s. Silver nickel bolsters. Soft grip handles. And finger grooves. When I wanna reminisce, I either take out one of my dad’s old Schrade stockman knives , or my old craftsman. My little girls ( now on their own) and I used that knife and others to help strip a couple hundred saplings for walking staffs… so memories there.. also I used that craftsman knife for the first 10 years in the elevator trade… five years construction.. It’s actually in amazing good condition , other than the tip being broken… But because of a ‘knife doctor ‘video.. I finally made the tip more presentable. Please keep up the great work!
What a fantastic comment. Thank you for the kind words and story of your knife. That is what this is all about. Thank you!!
the reason they were able to get back to the ebony with Taylor guitars is taylor found a way to source a sustainable ebony supplier so renewable and all that the hippies are happy the knife guys are happy
Knife hippies are flashback happy!!
Lol! Dane Bramage ! Remember Watermark fluid (if you were a stamp collector) in the early 1970s? Tetrahydrochloride. Makes one wonder! Kinda how people don't realize WHY Tupperware was created! Prior to Tupperware all plastic food storage containers were LETHAL for storing food! They just don't teach this stuff in playschool anymore! I can't really justify marring the plastic on my knives. I'm still using the excuse to my wife, that eventually SHE will inherit them all. So to avoid having to listen to her complaining that I'm lowering the resale value, I just don't do it...
I did not collect stamps. However, I went to school and enjoyed every test and handout that was printed with the mimeograph machine. That stuff was amazing!!
@@knifetimestory LOL! I could tell a story about that one time in 6th grade when a teacher sent me and that cute girl to the mimeograph (closet) room to make copies for the rest of the period. :)
I have tried to explain this to my wife for almost 30 years. I simply stopped buying her knives. She just doesn't get it. But then, I have to remember that she doesn't grasp the concept of how the switch works on the Swamp cooler either... Spring 1979, I'm 18 yr's old in Texas working with a bunch of kids who have this strange brain disease that switch blade knives are "Cool" because they flick out when they press a button. I carried an Uncle Henry LB7 and after about 3 minutes of practice I could "Flick" it out using ONLY my thumb faster than they could locate and press their silly button. Of course, you did have to correctly position the knife in the pouch exactly as you show! Nearly 50 years later now, I have always kept every lock back in every pouch as you show. It doesn't matter what brand. I can't flick a knife open anymore unfortunately. These last 50 years have left me with almost no discernable finger prints now. Nearly 5 decades of rolling my own cigarettes has made them almost disappear. I need 2 hands now...
Great comment and story. Thanks for sharing. Stop smoking!
Is this satire of knife guys that use a folding knife for tasks than need a kitchen knife.
You got it!
So for your application you really got the wrong knife! Go check out the -Gerber Strongarm Camp- ! You cannot take a combat knife and say oh it’s trash for Outdoor activities. It was not directly designed for that.
You must be new here. My whole "thing" is buying a knife I like and tweaking it to turn it into a knife I love. And, teaser time...I have a Camp on the way and will be presenting it in the not-too-distant future. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@knifetimestory very nice. Actually my comment might have been a bit to fast forward or aggressive maybe. Actually I realised that I did some modifications to my knives to, so yeah it is nice. Thanks for sharing your knife story’s!
My pleasure. Thanks again for watching and welcome aboard!!
I wish I could get you to be that passionate about urging “Buck” to offer Magnacut (or at least S45VN) across the board on the 110/112 lines…
Well. Maybe I do that one next. You have a good point. They should do that!
Kizer Smolt is in 3V.
Can't do Kizer. China is on my "S" list.
"humour" .. the best form of medicine. 10!
Glad you liked it!!
Im in!!!
Glad to hear it. Thank you!
@knifetimestory Or how about a harder HRC!?! The softness of ESEE is the reason I stick with the harder Becker BK series. Both are 1095, and both have similar size models. Ive tried a few ESEEs including the Izula and Izula II, but prefer the Becker Necker. Maybe try the harder Beckers before jumping to a different steel?!?
You are right. That would be a quick and easy fix. They could mark them differently so you know you had a hard one and maybe it would not have the same warranty, but those of us who buy the hard one will be smart enough to not pry with it.
@@knifetimestory Im not talking a huge change in HRC, maybe 4-5 is all, but in edge retention, Ive seen a huge difference. And prying is for crowbars! LOL! (BK-2)
Good info!
Thank you!
Esee laser strike is one of my favorites! If it was in cpm3v I’d cuddle it to sleep.
I'd be right there with you. I should probably clarify. I too would be inseparable with it mine, take it to dinner, out on adventures and cuddle with it, in my own bed, alone. 👍
🤣🤣🤣
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and letting me know!!
Nice video, greets from Argentina
Thank you and greetings back to you. I appreciate it!!
I forgot when they stopped using ebony. I think 1990-2001? They began using it again a couple years ago because they could now sustainably source it.
Pretty sure I covered that in the video. Or maybe I'm delusional. Yep, probably. I know it is in one of my Buck videos though. Thanks for watching.
I think I’ll visit the custom shop & get a 110 with stag handles / scales if you prefer
I just got rid of a "stag" 110. First of all, it is most likely Elk and I hate elk handles. They are not as stable as true Sambar Stag. When they haft those custom shop handles, they often go a little too far and grind, polish away too much of the brass.
If there’s better knives available ok. I’ll keep using my 110.
Got mine in my back left pocket today. Tough to beat!!!
Introducing from Esse knives in collaboration with knifetime time story. The new Dreams edition Izula in 5150 unobtanium.. With Dreams G10 Handles.. Good enough blade coating and last but not least..Our NEW Best of both worlds Custom leather and teklok sheath belt, dangler and neck knife sheath.. Love does come walking in.. Available fall 2024!!!
Nice one. Very clever how you snuck in a song title. I'm impressed. I also like the name of the knife. Thanks for watching and adding such a stellar comment.
@@knifetimestory I too Listen to the Van Halen.👍
Speaking about SAKs...it would be nice if they marked their models with a name. Just a little laser engraving on one backspring for example. Wholly unobstrusive. Of all the SAKs I have and have had I generally don't recall what the particular model is called. Because who really cares. But then there is some discussion and you're left with your d*ck in your hand because you have no clue about the name of that knife.
😂 I like your naming idea. I guess they assume we all keep our knives in the box, in our pockets so we can reference the name in conversation with other guys that may or may not also have a knife in one hand and...well, you know...something else in their other.
Dear Esee, Please forgive my friend Tom. He is in the early stages of late life and struggling. He is also forgetting much of what we learn in the 12 step program for knife lovers that love knives a little… You know the type. Can you believe he suggested that one of your knives with premium steel, and I quote “…would be the end of my quest looking for the ultimate EDC.” Can you believe this Lancelot? For a guy with his pedigree? The delusion is breathtaking. Admittedly you have to be charmed (and a little flattered) by the affection and attention. In a world of how many knife makers and then exponentially how many knives? Little ol’you and your coochy coo Izulla gets the nod from this old salty dog? To see the future we must look to the past. Here, repeatedly (and with feeling!) he has gone so far as to buy multiples of the same knife. Your silence here says all I need to know. I think we’re aligned. .. I see no early onset dementia either! Now for all we know, he could be reaching out to Creely for a special request Mako next week…. If the history of the channel teaches us nothing…I haven’t met his wife either but she must be destined for Sainthood. I like to think of knives like concubines. Wildly attractive to pursue and have around. The chasing might very well be the best part! Dog loves to hunt! If we look at King Solomon as a high water mark with a purported 900. And here we have my friend; also a man of obvious appetites, who has possessed and sold…the file has been redacted. We’re left with simply a best guess; shy of Solomon but certainly north of 500 to be sure. I can already see the epitaph in stone "Just.one more..." An intervention? I couldn't agree more. Call me.
I am the luckiest KZreadr in that my core group of commenters is so well-read, intelligent, and articulate and writes with such flair and humor. Comments like this have such an impact on my motivation to continue to produce the finest in knife entertainment I can possibly create. It is not an easy task and quite frankly, I do it for my own gratification. Yes, what you are watching is me gratifying myself. I live out in the country and what comes with a sparse population, is an exponentially reduced possibility of crossing paths with a fellow knife enthusiast with whom I could sit with at the bar (salad, taco) and chat about knives. So, I have to do it with you guys and throw it out there and hope it is even remotely interesting. Thanks again for taking the time to write such a magnificent comment. Means so much to me.
Civivi just came out with “cloud peak” which is similar to this loveless design in ffg nitro v. Would love to see a comparison
Civivi is cool, but I'm not a fan of supporting Chinese factories that on the surface, make nice and original designs, but also have all the tooling and know-how to produce all the counterfeit knives you see on the market.
👍
I'm guessing ESEE knows how to run their own business. They're pretty successful at it. You want a different knife, there are plenty of other companies making knives in Magnacut and S35VN. Just buy one of those.
I'm guessing you don't know much about how a business works. For starters, the Izula II is a direct result of customer feedback on the size of the Izula. The Escabar is a direct result of a guy making one in his garage and Becker buying the idea from him. The stainless versions of the Izula and ESEE 3 are a direct result of customers begging for a stainless option. The Sencillo is a result of customers asking for something a little bigger and in a nicer steel.
Subway bowie in LC200N.. might fit the bill.
Sure...why not.
I'm in...
Bravo
Yes, I'm in👍👍👍. Wait and see what happens now🤔...🇺🇲🔪🌲🔥
We can only hope.
