Would You Do This?

Ойын-сауық

Have you ever seen something and instantly knew you were going to recreate it? That is how I felt with this knife. Just as in any art form, be it music, sculpture, or painting, ideas are "borrowed" and then adapted. It's been said that there are no new stories and that there really are only seven, and everything else is simply an adaptation. I believe that. When I saw Van's Swiss Army Knife, I instantly knew I was going to do the same thing. I had a hunch he did not come up with it, but he is a clever guy, and who knows, perhaps he really did. Regardless, I was very impressed and thankful I stumbled upon the idea. It's interesting that he stated he thought he was the first to do it, but then found a knife that Tom Sachs had done the same thing to. Maybe Tom is the first. Who knows. It really does not matter. The fact is that it is a cool idea and if you are willing to take a chance on putting hot iron to plastic, then go for it. Just remember to get plenty of fresh air.

"No one in my family understands me." Well, Tom, join the club. I'm surrounded by non-knife people, and it drives me nuts sometimes. Like, what's wrong with everyone else but me?!? As far as "daim bramage"... well, I cant help you there either. My brain cells have been kilt from my years working in Corrections. I are mentally ruint. (But my politically incorrect brother told me yesterday that I am "ret**ded strong", so there's always an up side to it... I think...) Cool idea. Gonna do it first on my bark river, in case I mess it up.

Great comment as usual Jeff. Thank you. I like your brothers expression. I may be using that someday...in public or not. Still not sure about that. Yes, Bark River Knives are a great place to learn how to "F" something up and not get upset.

No kidding. I just thought this would be a fun project and wanted to share it and show how unique it is. It's more for the artistry and not identification.

Lol! Dane Bramage ! Remember Watermark fluid (if you were a stamp collector) in the early 1970s? Tetrahydrochloride. Makes one wonder! Kinda how people don't realize WHY Tupperware was created! Prior to Tupperware all plastic food storage containers were LETHAL for storing food! They just don't teach this stuff in playschool anymore! I can't really justify marring the plastic on my knives. I'm still using the excuse to my wife, that eventually SHE will inherit them all. So to avoid having to listen to her complaining that I'm lowering the resale value, I just don't do it...

I did not collect stamps. However, I went to school and enjoyed every test and handout that was printed with the mimeograph machine. That stuff was amazing!!

@@knifetimestory LOL! I could tell a story about that one time in 6th grade when a teacher sent me and that cute girl to the mimeograph (closet) room to make copies for the rest of the period. :)

👍 interesting video, but you really need to get a day job. Not having your superlative artistic talent & abilities I will not attack my knives with soldering iron & gold pen.
