For such purposes, especially in very bad weather, there is clearly a lack of new, economical, convertible aircraft that are able to land and take off on time even in the worst weather conditions. I am just thinking of an example of a configuration of the Amphibium Duocopter. Why this line of development was not tackled by vertical take-off aircraft manufacturers decades ago is a deliberately staged problem. Since increased fuel consumption only occurs during the take-off and landing phases. These conditions in such demanding areas are unbelievable. Peter
Possibly such technologies haven’t been developed, tested and approved by the CAAs and insurance companies. The costs of operating those machines and having a well trained maintenance crew must be really high too. But I agree with you that some more development is needed in this aviation sector. In the meantime the porters will be doing their job well! Cheers!

As private pilot since more then 30 years, I'm interested in different aspects of aviation (commercial procedures, accident case study, etc.) But since I fly (private), this kind of bush flying is the only professional job i would wish to do. 💗. They are mud guards. They prevent rock and mud from hitting the plane in critical areas. Thanks for your question!

Indeed they were! The landslide is in PNG (the eastern part of Papua) I’m in West Papua (Indonesia) so no problems here so far 🙏😁
