PBS Space Time

PBS Space Time

Space Time explores the outer reaches of space, the craziness of astrophysics, the possibilities of sci-fi, and anything else you can think of beyond Planet Earth with our astrophysicist host: Matthew O’Dowd.

For all business inquiries and sponsorship opportunities please reach out to: [email protected]

Matt O'Dowd spends his time studying the universe, especially really far-away things like quasars, super-massive black holes, and evolving galaxies. He uses telescopes in space to do it. Matt completed his Ph.D. at NASA's Space Telescope Science Institute, followed by work at the University of Melbourne and Columbia University. He's now a professor at the City University of New York's Lehman College and an Associate at the American Museum of Natural History's Hayden Planetarium.

Previous host Gabe Perez-Giz is an astrophysicist who studies black hole physics. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University and also hosted PBS Infinite Series.

I just thought up a 3 am theory that links dark matter and the lack of antimatter pretty damn well Not posting it publicly as that could get it stolen and if im right i want that nobel prize

I've also read that there's a potential for helium isotopes that are needed for fusion fuel, something that's not readily available on earth.

would love to see a video explaining what quantum physicists mean by causation, and how the interaction of particles does not imply causation in the context of entanglement. how can an experiment generate entangled pairs of particles if there is no causal link?

They need to make some type of space laser line highway system that can be seen from a certain distance in space. So any unknown aliens could see a light emitting in the nights sky an see it trailing from one spot.

I've had a theory kind of like this for a while, that black holes all (somehow, I'm not even remotely an astrophysicist) lead backwards in time, until they reach the beginning, so everything that goes into them ends up all converging at the same place at the same time, which is the big bang.

I would also add an option branch from B ignoring to send a fleet out, scout, see what’s going on, and have the chance of contact and direct confirmation. Kinda like Teddy, speak softly and carry a big stick.

i remembered the future . i meet a girl and somehow knew i would meet her again about 10 years later. i even wrote down where she lived, un case i meet her ib the future. meet her about 10 years later about 500 km from 10 years ago. the 10 years after i remembered i remembered another case with this girl. i rememveted that she would get into a car axident. about 11 months in the future. i told that to her mother. her mother asked when that would happen. i remembered it as 13 december 1986. but told ger rhat i did not kniow exactly. i did not wish her to think about horror movies. so i told her it would hapoen in rhe middle off decenber that year. i also told her that i wad not there, and did not knowxwhy i was not there. at the time off her accident i wad 500 km away. my relasion with her was like a very long dejavue. there were other situations like this but less strong.

yes they exists. that is why we use telescopes to look back on time. we get the energi from the past , today. and ww sent energi back. that they will recive . at another time. it is imposible to ses each other at the same time. even when we only stand one meter from each orher. light takes time to travel 1 meter. totaly imposible. but they both exist in rhe past and now atcthe same time. just delayed a little by light travelibg 1 meter. hearing each other is even worse because sounds travel slower. this makes energi movements at different speeds.

light does not travel in straight light.. because 4here is gravity everyplace . the light bending results in phase shift off the light. redshifting it. cheating us to belive the source off the light is moveing too us. meaning. we need to calculate where the light source really is in the universe. the direction and distace is not were we see it. if u it is gravity bended

No.. time creates space.. the way we define time.. we use movement. but the universe does not need movement to create time. that is how the universe started. time started. space was created. then at some point some plus engergi was there and another place negarive energi. the energi flow and creates particles. that happend a lot off places. then the particles became more dence.. and the first helium was created. then suns and galaxys and so on. but because we use movement to define time. we will never really know if the universe needs movement to create time. it is like a our freezers. no movement. but time goes on.

Distance isn't real. It's relative to the observer. The motion of observer is the projection of the reality it observes like a 2D plane in 3D. Entanglement means the observation is in the SAME plane as that of the entangled electrons. Without observation/measurement the observer is NOT in the same plane as that of the wave. All this means our universe is a projection of 5D spacetime. We can only see multiple 4D projections of the 5D "reality".

Two waits. Each wait connected to a pully that can lift 2x its weight. When the weight on one side reaches the bottom it activates a leaver which make a gear change giving the other side the pully power. The driveshaft will only loose its torque for a split second. The way a back wheel of a pushbike only powers one way will need to be put into some of the gears. It works cos ive seen it working in a dream. My spelling skill prevents me explaining in full
