    I've been running an experiment on this one now. Over the course of a week it got ever slower until it sealed. Yesterday however it did weep a little. I'm just waiting for the last of this batch to be long used up before I get a replacement set.

    So you contact speedfit and inform them it's a faulty product now they will just want to send you a new one but no you want it fitting also. The won't do that so you pay a plumber and send them the bill. They will do this if not tell them this problem is yours and its now been logged so if it causes extensive flood damage to my property its your responsibility. Watch them squirm

  • @sam.p12345
    @sam.p12345Ай бұрын

    But the issue is that they wouldn’t be responsible. You’d have no cause of action, and any nonsense correspondence that you sent them with jumbled legal-sounding buzzwords gleaned from the Daily Mail wouldn’t be too impressive.

    Could it be a manufacture design fault?

  • @killcar5nbike2
    @killcar5nbike2Ай бұрын

    I'd say defect caused by a machine fault being most likely. These have been around long enough for a design fault to be long ironed out. At a guess there's either not enough pressure being put on the seal by the expanded metal crimp. Or there's a slight burr or imperfection that's stopping whatever seals normally from seating properly. The gap must be near microscopic to weep at the low rate it's leaking at.

  • @kriswakely287
    @kriswakely287Ай бұрын

    You would expect jg to pressure test crimped hoses but i guess thats not the case , id swap it for a standard flexible hose just incase its a large batch of them

  • @killcar5nbike2
    @killcar5nbike2Ай бұрын

    I've got the tails that came with the Franke tap. Going to swap them in instead. These are still leaking, although they have slowed down to a very slow weep.

    Super cool! I am in fact about to start the same project since I had some TAA300's lying around. Its really good to know that the supply rejection isn't great. I am a bit confused about the datasheet and the numbering. Is the pin numbering shown in the datasheet top-view or bottom-view? Also, do you demo the amplifier in your videos? :))

  • @killcar5nbike2
    @killcar5nbike22 ай бұрын

    Pins are looking at the bottom of the chip with the legs pointing towards you. I should demo the amp actually as the final version had a few changes. I'd recommend a 470 ohm feedback resistor. A 100nf cap right at the pins And a 4.7 Ohm resistor in series with a 100nf cap from output to 0v. I ended up using a 9v regulator after my caps as it was still noisy, it's now dead silent. I also used a 10k in series with the input signal feeding a 1k that goes to 0v with a 15nf cap in parallel with the 1k. Those mods have made the chip super quiet, sound awesome and very stable. I'll do a vid on it to explain it better

    @@killcar5nbike2 Thank you so much for the detailed answer. I also figured based on the schematic to use a larger feedback resistor. There is no need for me to have that much gain, as I will just be feeding it through RCA. Also the increased feedback factor should help with distortion. Im looking forward to the update video

    Thanks, for this - I could actually follow your ramble through the experiment! The most interesting bit for me and my situation is to find the capacitance from GNFB causing instability in UL mode. I think I have a similar problem with my amplifier and it may be the reason why the manufacturer has a different value capacitor and resistor, depending on the config.

  • @killcar5nbike2
    @killcar5nbike22 ай бұрын

    It's quite common to have different values and combinations of components in the NFB line depending on different configurations. It's a rather emperical approach to find the values that are needed to correct instability

    Next time I have one in I'll make a vid. Jordan pier does various repair vids where you can see the technique. Different equipment but the same idea. If a track gets lifted it's tinned wire to repair it. The cat was the neighbours. She let herself in my house one day and proceeded to live at mine for 4 years until the neighbours moved and took her with them. I miss her, she was lovely

    Hey Liam, nice channel, thanks. The 'odd' fuse holder is designed to fit in from the back of the panel so it can be removed from the panel without taking off the wiring whne repairing. I think! The guitar pedal builders also have a range of 9v connectors that makes it easier to assemble the pedal in a loom.

  • @killcar5nbike2
    @killcar5nbike23 ай бұрын

    I guess in an application where you want to insert it from behind the panel it's useful. Off the top of my head I'm not sure why that might be.

Started to poke at other bits and it was full of crud, though not much had made its way down to the filter. In the process of reassembling everything and crossing everything else that it works. EDIT: Reader, it worked. Thanks again Tip for reassembling the filter - of the three prongs, only one of them fits in the hole in the plastic condenser outlet. Bit of pushing the drum out of the way and you can get it back in, in one. Think that may help with reseating the seal as well.

    Some basic tests can be performed with a digital multi meter. Usually the output transistors short internally so you'll measure low resistance between say collector and emitter, base collector ETC. Finding the fault if it's blown outputs is relatively easy, finding and replacing every component that has also gotten damaged is a lot trickier. It really needs a shop that also knows how to test the protection circuitry when the output is over loaded. If they weren't cost cut to the lowest degree and had internal rail fuses, the damage would be lower when they fail. At a guess, unless you live in somewhere like India, any repair shops time is going to cost more than the amp is worth. It's several hours work to get everything and check it, then component costs on top.

    Electrolytic capacitors, generally speaking, have a duty cycle of around 2000 hours, depending on task, placement and temperature rating. We use a Soundtracs CP6800, circa 1984/5. The difference, sonically, pre and post cap replacement was vast. Doing so also returned the routing computer to service. So, it does make a difference, when doing so is actually required.

I hear click during installation ,but apparently it is not seating properly . I will repeat it hehe . Design is distaster . There is litteraly no space .
