Thanks, for this - I could actually follow your ramble through the experiment! The most interesting bit for me and my situation is to find the capacitance from GNFB causing instability in UL mode. I think I have a similar problem with my amplifier and it may be the reason why the manufacturer has a different value capacitor and resistor, depending on the config.

It's quite common to have different values and combinations of components in the NFB line depending on different configurations. It's a rather emperical approach to find the values that are needed to correct instability
