I had one go on me last week, completely seperated, never seen it before. Replaced it with metal braided version (all I could get at the time), now thinking I should replace the other one just in case.

I've been running an experiment on this one now. Over the course of a week it got ever slower until it sealed. Yesterday however it did weep a little. I'm just waiting for the last of this batch to be long used up before I get a replacement set.

At this point I'd be trying a different brand..

Could it be a manufacture design fault?

I'd say defect caused by a machine fault being most likely. These have been around long enough for a design fault to be long ironed out. At a guess there's either not enough pressure being put on the seal by the expanded metal crimp. Or there's a slight burr or imperfection that's stopping whatever seals normally from seating properly. The gap must be near microscopic to weep at the low rate it's leaking at.

So you contact speedfit and inform them it's a faulty product now they will just want to send you a new one but no you want it fitting also. The won't do that so you pay a plumber and send them the bill. They will do this if not tell them this problem is yours and its now been logged so if it causes extensive flood damage to my property its your responsibility. Watch them squirm

But the issue is that they wouldn’t be responsible. You’d have no cause of action, and any nonsense correspondence that you sent them with jumbled legal-sounding buzzwords gleaned from the Daily Mail wouldn’t be too impressive.

You would expect jg to pressure test crimped hoses but i guess thats not the case , id swap it for a standard flexible hose just incase its a large batch of them

I've got the tails that came with the Franke tap. Going to swap them in instead. These are still leaking, although they have slowed down to a very slow weep.
