  Remember going to opening in San Francisco I believe 2012 maybe 13 at the shooting gallery right off Geary and Larkin... I just remember the city was crushed with just sick characters and letters everywhere after that

  Urs [also] talks about the hypothetical fairness of the Swiss, which is not fairness. If you ask a Swiss what bad character is, he will ask you what you mean by bad character. It's really just a vulgar search for the feeling of not feeling responsible [Swiss style], because the search for fairness is obviously useless. You'd rather not be fair, because striving for fairness looks ridiculous. When you do something wrong, you don't feel bad because you know that it is acceptable to do something that is unjust, [this is part of the doctrine of predestination and basically left-handed right-wing]. You need not to worry about fairness if anything is preordained. But fairness goes far beyond language, it means dealing with something bigger. Check out some artists: Chris Burden, Martin Kippenberger, Bruce Nauman, Cady Noland, Hugo Markl, Cindy Sherman, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Andrea Fraser and Robert Smithson.   I was very young when I saw Piss Christ for the first time yet the power of this image aroused my empathy and I immediately “got it”. The way modern society including the likes of Jesse Helms were dishonoring the principles Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount. I wasn’t a sophisticated art critic nor am I today but now that I hear him explain how he learned at an advertising agency how to condense messages for maximum impact I realize why the piece instantly affected me and has to this day. When I saw Sister Wendy Beckett speak about it and realized that her understanding of Piss Christ expressed my feelings exactly. As poetry is to long form writing, art goes right to the bottom line and to the heart. I think my tax money was well spent and to Mr. Serrano I say, we’ll done, sir❤
