  Its hard for anybody to say, if you haven’t seen him play live, based on all the skills mentioned for a loosy, there is no way Michael Jones is anything less than 1st place. As good as Ritchie was, Iceman was even more quicker in pace and thought that rules for the game changed multiple times, he influenced Kronfeld who also should be on this list and finally McCaw. Like Carter, there is nobody who comes even close to Jones as the greatest 7 ever.

  I personally lam not a fan of McCaw, but man he really threw his body on the line , France would have beaten The ABs in the 2011 no doubt but McCaw but just thew himself at them relentlessly, while his other players seemed a little rattled ,, hes a beast on the field .

  You must've been watching another Cup. There was only one flanker that was outstanding throughout and that was Jerome Kaino. McCaw was nursing his broken foot and didn't feature. Please don't try to rewrite history, you'll get caught out. Kaino was our best loose forward in 2015 as well, industrious, strong and a defensive monster. McCaw was a seagull.

  The way John Kirwin carved up that Italian side has always been the most awesome individual try for me but my favourite tries come from the Paekakariki Express. Christian Cullen is the silkiest player I've ever seen.

  All Black supporter here - agree with Horan as no.1, reluctantly... also need to mention his nearly flawless defence! Nonu in the latter part of his career, when he added a rapier to the broadsword, was pretty much as good.

  Interesting that there is a lot of debate about the list (there is definite recency cut-off here eg Barry John, Phil Bennett?) but no debate about no 1. Dan Carter. Well Barrett is a faster more incisive runner, Farrell a better, if dodgier, tackler, Sexton a better distributor, Porta a better drop-kicker, maybe Ella more visionary, and Wilkinson and Jenkins have equal ice in the veins when the pressure is on... but Carter while maybe not definitively the best in any single category you are looking for in a 1st Five, he was there or thereabouts. Hence, no debate.

  Mentioning Farrell but not his impressive 2019 World Cup? And it would be beneficial if the clips shown would match the facts you mention. If you talk about how a player creates space for others, don’t show him breaking lines and scoring tries.
