    It's not, I selected the noise gate by accident, rather than the expander, so the gate is clipping the sounds. I also have clipping as the volume was too high. I later noticed I had knocked the audio to 10db gain. Never edit when you are tired!!

    @@Feemy Thanks, I'm still learning audio, and honest comments like yours are cool, how else would I learn! The AF is an issue, as its very situational. You have have areas when it is great, or, like I had on a model shoot last week, it was fine, then just randomly started focusing on the background, despite the camera telling me it had detected a face! The AF my Lumix S5ii got recently was a game changer that really fixed loads of bugs. However Lumix took over a year to release it so maybe that was key? Taking time to be sure of a good update that has been tested. The new AF on the fuji cameras seems better, but I wont know till i've used it for a while, hence the first impressions. Thanks for watching through my terrible audio! I'm normally better!

    On my XS10 I have a glitch with the screen histogram. when the camera is in S with auto ISO and exp comp at 0 and I have mistakenly moved the SS to outside the range of the aperture (causing the f number to become red on the screen) the histogram remains unchanged and doesn’t show the pic as being over or under exposed. As I don’t always check the settings, and avoid chomping, but rely on the histogram to ETT I have found my pics regularly over exposed. 😂 Is this just me? Doesn’t matter whether the lcd is in natural live view or not.

  • @NatsWright
    @NatsWrightАй бұрын

    Natural live view turns of simulations to the exposure, such as film sims. It's mainly for night or long exposure shots, so I'd turn it off for normal use as the histogram won't work correctly in this mode. As long as exposure simulation is on, that's fine, however when the display for aperture or shutter goes red, this is because you are in Shutter or aperture priority. If you say, were in shutter priority and you set the shutter to 1/8000 and the lens could only open to F4, it would display in red if the exposure could not be achieved. With natural live view off, the histogram will work. Also I. Shutter or aperture priority, the EV dial works normally, -1 EV is just that, as is +2 EV. The issue I discussed was full manual with auto iso, then the EV meter behaves oddly, and you cannot be sure where the dial for EV is set as it's not marked.

  • @andreweberhard3873
    @andreweberhard3873Ай бұрын

    Thanks for you spending your time to reply. I agree with your issue but I don’t often shoot in manual mode, I normally use apeture priority. My issue is only in shutter priority which I recently though I’d try. In your scenario in shutter priority when the shutter speed is set to 1/8000 and the lens at f/4 shows red the histogram is still displaying that the photo is correctly exposed rather than pushing all the way to the right. This happens regardless of whether live view mode is on or off. I shoot in MF with Back button focus and don’t use the half shutter press to focus. The f number only shows red when shutter is half pressed. So if using manual focus and looking at histogram for an exposure I have sometimes hurriedly snapped off a shot not checking the shutter speed and only relying on my histogram which is not accurate. I realise the mistake is mine but I feel the histogram should move when the actual photo settings are going to create a poorly exposed photo.

  • @NatsWright
    @NatsWrightАй бұрын

    @@andreweberhard3873 ideally the histogram should move, but it won't as in any semi auto mode, the exposure is controlled by the camera. With natural live view enabled, the histogram won't work, the camera displays in red any settings that indicate a problem with exposure. Maybe this could extend to the histogram when exposure cannot be achieved. However turning off natural live view would enable the histogram to accurately reflect any exposure issues. As you are using back button focus, when pressed, the exposure is displayed. Adjust settings to prevent any red numbers. What you change depends if the camera is under or over exposing too. This is where the EV dial actually works. Set negative 3 EV in the case of under exposing and the camera should compensate by changing the aperture to F8. However ISO should be manually set too, or this may change over aperture!!

    Hi Natalie thanks for the explaining of various cameras lenses in use while you took your beautiful pictures, you put a lot of effort into your photography but it paid off the shots were great. Time laps is that going to be a form of image stacking 2sec each one I'm not sure how that works? anyway thanks Natalie.......Tony

  • @NatsWright
    @NatsWrightАй бұрын

    Thanks! Time lapse photography is something that merits a discussion on its own. But think of it like this. You set you camera up to photo rolling clouds and take 125 photos each at 1/30 exposure. The photos are taken every minute, so it takes 125 minutes to take the sequence. You then assemble them into a short video sequence, at 25fps. 125/25 =5 so you get a 5 second time lapse that represents 125 minutes of passing time, hence the name!

Disturbing during feeding is a topic. Also threatening the nests which may force stressful behaviour onto the birds, attempting to divert the predators from the nest. Nature photography includes respect, as you said. (Btw - there are other animals out there, too. 🙂)

    interesting Natalie about auto focus things keep improving. I use lens hoods depending on the lens as you know some lenses just catch stray light so easy and spoil contrast. I've been using a wide lens around a 26mm which I just got and I don't have a lens hood for it, so will be interested how my pictures turn out for me, I took a few with strong light in them. Plus I have been known to bang the front of my lens into things so a hood helps in that sense also. looking forward to hearing how you get on with the sound equipment problems.......Tony

    Thanks Tony! Video coming shortly on the bike audio! I'll master it for sure, in time. Certainly wider lenses are more suspectable to light detraction when not using a hood. Lens hoods are often missing, my 40-140mm f2.8 fuji had no hood although I did manage to get one later on!

  • @don_at_large
    @don_at_large2 ай бұрын

    By placing a small hole on each end of the lens hood, I can attach a stretchy chin string, so I don't lose my lens hood. Wearing my lens hood proper, permits other people right away to recognize, I am a photographer. With my lens hood on my crown, I can gather the cosmic universal knowledge of photographic energy in the atmosphere. A really nice thing is being able to paint my lens hoods in different colors to match my attire for the day. I picked a sky blue color to wear when making video. When people see me wearing my blue lens hood they right away know, I am recording video. Some day I may mount a solar panel or propeller to gather solar energy for charging the camera.
