Can you get Reala Ace on the Fujifilm X-T5?

Hey folks, a film simulation video at last and today i'm looking at Reala Ace. Very kindly, Chris from ‪@pal2tech‬ and Gordon from ‪@cameralabs‬ have provided me some actual Reala Ace samples to compare to the X-T5 simulation I created.

Thanks! With Reala Ace now on Fuji cameras like my X-T5, I think a comparison is in order!

Nathalie ... thanks for this recipe ...I'm trying to match your recipe ... by using as less changes as possible in my favorite film simulation "Nostalgic Negative" ... : Every setting "Off, Auto or 0" ... except : Tone Curve H-2 S-2, Color -2, Sharpnes -2, High ISO NR -4 ... and the JPEG's look quite the same to your recipe ... however ... I have not (yet) experimented with the RAF files in Lightroom ... What do you think ?

I'll have a try of those settings and may feature the results in my next video, thanks. It should be slightly warmer with Nostalgic Neg, colour wise. We will have Reala Ace in a few months so I hear!

Very nicely done. I love the colours in the "Lidl bag man" photo in particular. I just realised that DXO Photolab has a Superia Reala film simulation and it is quite close to your film recipe, except for more contrast, although I don't know if it is close to the original film. It shows a similar emphasis on cool and bronze instead of citric colors (if that makes any sense) and it is indeed possible to use Pro Neg Std to create a similar look with very few steps. Actually I like your version more. The noise pattern in the DXO version is very subtle and close to the Fujifilm JPEG engine, so it was the right choice to keep the artificial noise off. I agree that more sophisticated noise/grain simulations would be nice; the one provided looks a little too algorithmic. It is a missed opportunity.

Aww, thanks, glad you like it. I had no idea DXO had one, and the irony of me creating something so close, i'll take that as a win! I'd love to see grain simulations though, that could be fujis next big thing. I've played around with grain in Lightroom, and you can get some really neat effects.

Haha, thanks, I was a bit cringe with the pome lol. Glad you are learning about film simulations, it's what makes the fuji cameras so creative and tactile!
