    This changed steel forever. Steel is made with oxygen. Oxygen comes from atmosphere which the explosion sent mushroom cloud into the stratosphere. Ever since 1945 steel has had trace amounts of nucleotides. So things tht need steel tht are sensitive to radioactivity have to be sourced from ship wrecks which is called low background steel or pre atomic steel.
