Bit of a nitpick, but when the projects are as expensive and time consuming as they often can be (and it's his content), Hermione's quote just doesn't really apply super well (ignoring her sarcasm to illustrate how much she really doesn't want to be expelled). If he said "for safety reasons, but more importantly..." etc. that would work.

This happens in restaurants as well. Glasses start to get internal tensions resulting from washing them many times. Then, from time to time they just break to pieces randomly. If you use and wash them often, you need to replace them from time to time.
@slimykimchi

I’ve experienced this firsthand as a cook performing dishpit duties in a longterm care facility, when washing the glasses especially the really old ones, often times when they’re pulled from the washing machine, they will literally explode in your hand as soon as you grab it. Scary shit.

Generally this applies to thinner glassware like champagne flutes and wine glasses, as well as handmade stuff. If it's just a normal tall/short kitchen glass with a thicker base and walls . . . the chances of stress corruption are really really low. The manufacturing and quality control processes usually weed out the flawed stuff. Restaurants and othe facilities buy TONS of glassware, usually at the lowest prices. These two factors combine to make fractures wayyy more common than they are in households.

Fun fact: diamonds are not nearly as rare as they're described as. The main diamond mine (i cant remember if its the one for the US or the entite world) actively limits how many diamonds they sell so their price stays the same. In actuality, most gems like sapphires are thousands of times rarer than diamonds.

Once when I was 12, I was washing dinner dishes. I had to wash a glass casserole pan, which was used for something cold and wasn't room temperature. I put the pan in the hot dish water, and it shattered! Thankfully I hadn't been holding any part of it when it happened, or I probably would have gotten cut pretty badly. I just remember hearing it crack and then it shattered into a lot of little pieces! Scared the heck out of me. I'm guessing it was due to the temperature difference between the glass and the dish water. Anyway, this video reminded me of that.

The only way to receive true happiness is to be born again. Jesus loves you and is coming back to earth soon. This year is giving signs of end times. You need to repent. Please believe and spread the word to your friends, family etc so they can be saved. I'm doing this because I care about where your gonna end up on judgement day Jesus loves you......

A few weeks later, though, when I was walking around again barefoot, I stepped on another piece of glass. Now that it happened again, I started to worry why there where pieces of glasses everywhere. This video - which I first saw in highschool while struggling through depression and chemistry exit exams - has been living in my brain rent free for 4 YEARS! I always wondered where it came from and why I remember it so vividly. This random dude destroying his beakers after a lab error... something like that shouldn't be that memorable. But for who knows what reason, just stuck with me. Am now in pharmacy school. I got on meds and help, and am an university student on disability aid. Chemistry is still hard for me. This year was my 3rd year trying to pass chemistry 2 and 3. On friday I got a failed physics exam back. It's been a tough few months... but this video popped back in my feed. And for some strange reason... made me feel like maybe I can do this. I passed exit exams and got this far... maybe I can accomplish that again.
