Hunting a mammoth for food sounds like a great plot hook, which causes a Dino stampede through another village that causes them to attack back lol

I started this campaign recently with a small group of friends, two of them are experienced and the other is still getting the gig of it and all of them decided to play with the minimum level which lead to begin the campaign with a deep exploration in red larch and despite their deep curiosity i managed to led them to the main missions so they can level up and gain more abailities and work out their team strategy. We are also using the factions lore to play this game and even the genasi class that comes with it (one of them is an Earth Genasi). Hopefully they stay on the righteous path and don't kill the npcs as they have done previously. Also good resume on it!
I was pretty surprised how poor some of the stuff in this adventure is when I read it the first time. A lot of it seems highly unmotivated and out of context. Fortunately, I was going to make modifications to fit with my ongoing campaign anyway, but it feels like I just bought a list of bullet points and some basic dungeon layouts for the full price of an adventure. At least the (alt) cover art is cool.

I love the idea of using the cursed Forgotten Realms as the backdrop for the curse. And tying in the hand and eye and the obelisks instead of just the rod. And seeing Strahd make his dark bargain is great.
this was an amazing explanation on the history and lore of Karsus and Mystra. I needed this to cook my homebrew campagin >:)

So many stupid retcons. Focusing everything on Bob Salvatore (whose writings have been getting worse for a long time and went even further downhill starting with Neverwinter books; I like to compare that to George Lucas and Star Wars with some of the Prequels being clearly marked by George being high on his own fumes when in the past he had to listen to critique and accept help [re-cuts. others directing etc.]) was a mistake. My Realms will stick to the lore of the AD&D 2nd edition "Drow of the Underdark" by Ed Greenwood and take many elements of stuff up to Silence of Lolth. No Lisa Smedman, very few things from newer Bob Slavatore, no retcons.

It’s that easy to make a good final adventure for 5E just add some stuff to make player choice matter more and reprint the whole module I wouldn’t give the sword of Kas to Kas cuz it left him and probs wouldn’t return but it could easily find its way into the hands of someone who works for lolth and the power of the sword is how she’s winning so you can support lolth or Kas and earn different rewards depending on what you pick or you can mostly support one side and betray them at the end after getting what you need and a little more that you can steal on the way out but now you got one or two super powerful beings that’ll be after you from then on then go beat Vecna and have multiple possible endings based on previous choices like a good choice option is if they may run into strahd but he’s not evil yet so they try to peacefully make it so he never would’ve fallen being domain of dread it won’t have long term effects but perhaps an echo of the good strahd could be permitted to help in the final fight as a thank you both from strahd from giving him a glimpse of the man he could’ve been but also the dark powers cuz you gave them a new tool to torture Strahd by reminding him of of his failure to reach his potential
I think need a Starter Deck of Many Things, which is much less dangerous with things like, Fight a Goblin, 100 Gp Tab at a nearby bar, Free wardog, +1 HP, lose a personal item, piss off a hobo. etc etc.

It would have been cool if the Deck of Many Things were like the Tarot's Major Arcana, representing potentially big, wild effects but then you drew one of the numbered pip cards (the numbered cards) as a kind of roll that determines the strength of the card effect. It would also have been cool to see face cards (Page, Knight, King, Queen) featuring some of D&D's divine pantheon. Drawing those cards could represent that god intervening in some way (perhaps also determined by drawing a numbered pip card).

NGL This was the one book that was hard for me. I built a 1-20 campaign that hits every adventure that has its own book. So not including compendiums or the starter kits. Though I have added one or two in as needed just for fun. But the question from the beginning I had is "why are the forgotten realms so under threat every few years?" Unless this is just the norm they can't be facing world ending threats every year or so for a decade when even one of them happening will have significant consequences. It made me think that perhaps there was a grand designer behind the decade of unrest. In my game thus far I had it be Tiamat. The first adventure which would be both first and last in my campaign. Everything was all masterminded by ancient chromatic dragons seeking to please her in some sort of contest to see who could undo the realms the most during the grand plot to free her. It also explained why unifying people against the cult was so difficult and why they kept doing round about things. I think maybe if I want to include this I will have to make Vecna the ultimate mastermind. Or maybe the reason why Tiamat did the thing was because she was trying to beat him to the punch.
You forgot to mention that the slaves Mulan are descended from are from Earth. Not Oerth or anything like that but actual Earth like the place we live

I have 3 unplayed wotc 5e adventure books left and at this point instead of throwing them away since they cost a lot of money or playing them in the abysmal 5e system i`ll just retool them to a system like pf2 or DCC. No way in hell will my money be used to buy more wotc crap, but at least i`ll give the books I already have a try but in a far better "D&D" system than the trash that is WOTC's flavor of D&D (5e or upcoming 6e)

I wish I could get hard copies of the Doomed Forgotten Realms books, but last I checked there was no POD option for the Gazeteer book or the doomed Vecna adventure...
Whoever is wearing attaching the hand of fact should always do the following use. They're no dominant hand sacrifice that and then you know he was the DM whichever hand that is, let's say left because statistics at least this world commonly dominant hand so you you gotta have the person missing their left hand and then like a different flesh tone kind of like a palate. I guess which like and the opposite one is gonna be on there. So the hand of vacna is a right hand in my mind. And the person who sacrifices their own hand gives up their left hand so they now have 2 right hand and that's both distur. Not not stupid or maybe it really is I don't know but I like it
