You get some stuff wrong, but I love the fact that you are digging into complex D&D lore and trying to get stuff right. Keep doing what you are doing.

Been playing BG3 and your lore videos from years ago have been amazing. Been binging them for hours listening to Forgotten Realms Explained. I know it’s been years but thank you for making them 😊

Sadly yes. Yugoloths/Daemons come from The Gray Waste of Hades but it's such a boring place they moved to Gehenna because their affinity for contracts sways them more to law. They are still present in Hades becasue they have the Khin Oin tower of the Oinoloth, the plaguemaster. They also tried to colonize Carceri but the Gehreleths/Demodands won't let them. They spend most of the time demolishing their fortresses to keep Carceri untamed.

I say that’s just a rumor. The origin stories of yugoloths are many, as they want it to be. There is one old rumor that they created the original demons. So there MIGHT be a connection to the Abyss. But the most consistent knowledge of them puts them as Gray Wastes beings originally. I personally favor the story (In some Planescape book. Maybe a quote of Alcain Fe’Mat’s?) that night hags formed them in limited quantities, but through The General, they were able to escape with a single, forever order: “Live For Yourself.”

Lol, it physically hurt me every time you pronounced it! Great vid Jorphdan! I watched Dice Camera Action, and I love Shemeshka! I have included her in my game for years now. Keep them coming on Planescape, as it is one of the best settings.

I watch your lore and love it. You are my go to for FR lore. I missed GenCon this year as I got really sick two days before and had to cancel Red Carpet Tables and a lot of cool stuff like meeting you. I will continue to watch your videos and we all get stuff wrong sometimes. Do you know what I will never get wrong? Not knowing that the PH is silent. I will never get that wrong. lol. My PCs met her at Fortunrs Wheel when they were just hitting teir 2. Now might be a good time to head back and see how things have developed as they reach the height of teir 3.

Funny enough, she's the one I pretended was in Tomb of the Nine Gods (ToA) to tie our group into Planescape. Even funnier I forgot about that until I saw your video only just. Int was my dump stat I guess...Hahaha... ha...

The Gehenna Origin is “technically” valid/correct since in the 5e Monster Manual the Yugoloths are stated to be native to Gehenna, even though I prefer and use the older lore. Also he said that the Yugoloths fled the Abyss when he probably meant Hades.

@InquisitorThomas Fair point. 5e does take precedence and Gehenna is described as their native plane in the MM. However, Jorphdan was bouncing back and forth between editions for lore supporting evidence and could have also discussed the perceived origins of the yugoloth race from Faces of Evil: The Fiends.

It's super easy to get a feind to want to murder you, isn't it? I mean, makes sense. They're evil, but murderhobism for the sake of minor annoyances and ovious misunderstanding seems inpractical, no matter how evil you are.
