    There’s something wrong with your form, but I can’t put my finger on it. It seems like you’re fully extending through your drive phase. When I pause the video your on top of your hips, and everything else seems alright. When I watch it live, though, it seems like you’re leaning forward and you’re not driving all the way through your stride. Do you need to keep your foot tighter to your glutes through the recovery? Maybe drive strait down, not extending forward on the start of your drive phase?

    Hi Cody hope you doing well I wanted to ask for some advice. When I sprint I let my lower leg move in front of my knees before striking down instead of striking as soon as my lower leg become perpendicular with the ground what are some cues you would recommend for me to fix this?

    @athlete.x is it okay to rest 1-2 after running 200’s? Most sources typically say to rest between 4-5 minutes for max effort sprints that range between 8-20 seconds

  • @medogerty6013
    @medogerty601310 сағат бұрын

    You need way more rest than 4-5 minutes for max effort sprints. These reps are supposed to be easy. 50-70% effort.

    How many movements do you do in a session? I’ve bought a trainer’s program and there’s only 1 squat and 1 hinge movement for weights after sprinting, and he said he won’t even add hip flexors or calf raise work on top of his program cause I already get it from sprinting. I was like “Damn, just that simple?”

    I have a question i see that you run the first 50-60 meters with open hands, but after that they are closed. Is there a reason for it, does it make you run faster? All the best!

  • @2ball434
    @2ball4345 күн бұрын

    I do the same, open palms for me atleast cause that's the position your arms start it. As you gain more speed and you mostly want the arms to follow, closing the palms allows me to swing faster

  • @user-ze3sg6ix1u
    @user-ze3sg6ix1u5 күн бұрын

    I do the exact same. It's a mental que, when you're into your drive phase you want to extend as much as possible, your ankles, your knees, your hips. It's an explosion, so your hands also "explode". When youre upright you want to be extremely calm and serene, so you let your hands close and relax more. You also can envision your fists being like a hammer the same way your legs are a hammer nailing the ground!

  • @ATHLETE.X
    @ATHLETE.X5 күн бұрын

    It’s mostly unconscious for me but it helps shorten the lever to allow for higher frequency & angular velocity. So as you speed up, the hands close to shorten the lever.

    Run 450 tempo at 75%. If you’re a 58 sec quarter guy, run the first 350 at 56 sec tempo… rest 30 sec and sprint the last 100 emphasizing good ground contacts and big strong arms, and stay relaxed and run pretty. If you’re a 50 sec quarter guy, run the first 350 at a tempo of 58.5 sec. As you get into the season, shorten it to 350 and go at an 80-85% tempo. So if you’re a 48 sec quarter guy, your first 250 should be at a tempo of 35 sec. If you’re a 50 sec quarter guy, your first 250 should be at a tempo of 39 sec. I’m a hurdles coach at Bishop Lynch high school in Dallas Tx. I have had on average of at least 2 hurdlers qualify to state every year. This will help you finish strong and run with confidence. The 400 is a 60% anaerobic and 40% aerobic event.

    Should speed capacity workouts for 400m runners be done in the off season? Or only near races? because I heard it is very taxing on the body, so it may be unsustainable in off season training

Getting down below 175 (PR was at 177lb) and executing each phase to my best ability should be able to put it together and get below 10.6 or better. Appreciate your support as always!
