I'm an idiot..... but seriously. If it wasn't for youtube we would all still be taking our vehicles to mechanics for many things we can do ourselves if we just had the resources and friends to give us pointers. I use it for most repairs I have never done or maybe just repairs i haven't done on specific vehicles. (boats motorcycles, cars, even home improvements ect). when I don't find the info I am looking for I just want to contribute by capturing my struggle of "going in blind". I learn so much doing this whether right or wrong I know it will help others by giving foresight on inner workings or what to/not to do. I get the most satisfaction when I get comments that people have found my videos useful. I also have a sense of humor and do not discourage anyone from leaving inappropriate or sarcastic comments. Please take a minute and check out a vid on my channel. I have 7 subscribers on this day that I made this description. If you have sympathy for that please click subscribe

    My singer was constantly getting jammed and having a huge mess on the bottom of my garment I was trying to sew and I began watching different videos and ran across one that was having the same problem-bottom thread would gather up and jam the bobbin and make a huge mess. I didn’t see this correction you show here until after I watched a video that showed how to c heck the needle plate for any groves or holes. My needle plate had a huge groove in it. Two of them and my thread was never going to slide without getting stuck so I took the plate off and used my metal mail file to file the groove down. I was trying to hem my son’s jeans for a wedding he was in that coming weekend and I didn’t have time to order a new plate from Amazon or even get it to the repair shop. The filling worked pretty good but I still had some bobbin tension issues, which I am now sure it was the thing you show in this video, a couple of times I could hear and see that the bobbin holder was jumping in there when the machine would jam. I saw what you did here in another video and that was my problem after I had fixed the grooves in the needle plate. In the video I saw how he should what you show in this video, but he also took the bobbin holder out and showed how to adjust the tension screw after breaking that yellow paint dot in the screw. Took a few tries to get it right but that combined with having that bitch thing like you did here solved all my tension problems until now when some of it’s happening all over again as u try to see lightweight cotton material. I also didn’t realize the size of the needle matters quite a bit, too! Thanks for the easy to understand way you did this video. It’s great & helping a lot of people in here!!

    Hi there, Have the same car, Been looking for a leak for a few weeks. Seems I had some on the top valve cover gasket so I went in and replaced the gaskets, They pretty hard and shot so I might as well, but looks to me so far, haven't done a full look around since I have to take the tire to check fully, but think I have a leak on the timing chain cover itself. Can't seem to find a gasket for that. Do you know if it's only the sealer lube that they use? I want to make sure before I remove the cover for the chain. I do have the gasket maker lube, but if they have a gasket we can use would want to use that of course. Thanks in advance if you are able to answer that.

    Yes. I felt successful but in the end I wished I would have had the head completely done. It wasn't getting good compression on the damaged cylinders and I ended up scrapping the car and buying another because I simply didn't have time to do it again. I got a good scrap value because it was still a good engine that just needed a head job

    Hi Jamie, thanks for this video! I used it a few months ago with great success. However this issue is now recurring so frequently that I can't even sew a few inches without the bobbin casing slipping and catching in the same spot. Does anyone have any experience with this, or any tips? I don't see any areas that could really be tightened or adjusted. It is maddening!

Bit the bullet and scrapped the car :( wasn't going to take my chances wasting time doing it all over or wasting money on an engine that might still give me other problems

    I had to return my 2014 Murano to the shop after a radiator replacement. They left splash guards in wheel wells unbolted (barely holding on). Did you have to remove those yourself? And I spent half a tank of gas in one day with what I thought was a small leak from their radiator job. With that much gas burn, would you agree that it’s a serious leak they left me with?

  • @jamiemciver2326

    What did you do to get that valve cover off

  • @jamiemciver2326
    @jamiemciver2326 Жыл бұрын

    I think I had to pry on it in a couple spots or maybe a chisel. It marked the surface a bit but I filed it clean and sanded with some fine paper before reinstalling it with a new gasket. Double and triple check that you have all the bolts out including the ones on top in the middle because that sucker won't be cheap to replace. I broke my timing chain cover because I missed a bolt and that cost me another $100 for a used replacement. That valve cover will be much more I'm sure. Also make sure to get a very complete gasket set. There are 12 or 13 gaskets and seals to replace on that sucker. Hope this helps. Feel free to comment back

    Hi I watched your video and I have a 2013 chevy malibu 2.5 and when I start the car there's a knocking sound over by the timing chain area and white smoke pours out of the tail pipe and after 2 minutes of the car running it dies, could this be a blown head gasket or a connecting rod?

  • @jamiemciver2326
    @jamiemciver2326 Жыл бұрын

    To answer that I'm going to say yes it could be those things. It might also be the timing chain has jumped a tooth which I've heard isn't unheard of on these engines. It's kinda hard to tell without some trouble shooting. I'm sure there are a couple other possibilities as well. I'm sorry I can't be of more help on answering without digging into the car a bit

    Did this motor sit for a long time unused? What do you think caused the valve to break? Did you end up buying another motor?

  • @jamiemciver2326
    @jamiemciver2326 Жыл бұрын

    It did sit for a while before I bought it. I had to unclog the catalytic converter and then it drove just fine for about a thousand miles. I just drove normal. Wasn't revving it or anything. I just check it off as a very uncommon random failure. They happen. Just not often. I changed 2 valves in the head and had to strip the spark plug to get it out so I put a heely coil in it and reassembled. Lots of little challenges along the way and lack of daylight and poor weather slowed me a lot. It's all reassembled now. Unfortunately the starter only clicked. I know it's not seezed because I turned it all the way with a wrench so I'll dig into that tomorrow

  • @jamiemciver2326
