No reason to do a hack job . The correct part number you need is 90179-08004. This is all eight nuts and all 4 exhaust gaskets. I hope this helps you out. This is the exact part number from Yamaha. Got these directly from a Yamaha Dealer in Springfield Massachusetts. I own 2 of these bikes. I have a 1981 XS 1100 special and I also have the 1981 XS1100 midnight special that I bought in August of 2017 and restored the bike . I had all the gold replated in East Windsor Ct. There are still a lot of parts that you can buy on Ebay and from the dealer for this bike. I just ordered a DYNO JET KIt and a new set of MAC 4 into 2 black exhaust pipes for the midnight special. I will also be upgrading my air filter to a K&N air filter once the after market pipes are on the bike. The jet kit is only $121.00 makes all the difference in the world . I went from 96 hp up to 109 hp on the other Yamaha after I put a MAC 4 into 1 exhaust, a Jet Kit from Dyno Jet, and a K&N air filter. By the way my 3rd bike is a 1998 Suzuki Intruder VS 1400. There is a video on Utube of this bike after I put a set of cobra pipes on the bike and I rejetted the carbs with a Dyno Jet, Jet Kit . This bike sounds awesome . It is red and black .
