singer heavy duty binding up and jamming
I get a lot of bunched up thread and complete useless stitches when it happens but I don't think I found the problem under the cover for the bobbin housing. let me know if this helps anyone. comments and likes appreciated. maybe nobody else has had this problem and maybe this is not my problem at all so I'm very eager to hear if anyone else has had this

Weird that it's so simple huh

Awesome that I was able to discover something so simple. Glad it helped 🙂
Genius!!! It’s so hard to find a video about this exact problem.
Saved me a 40min trip to the store , legend
My singer was constantly getting jammed and having a huge mess on the bottom of my garment I was trying to sew and I began watching different videos and ran across one that was having the same problem-bottom thread would gather up and jam the bobbin and make a huge mess. I didn’t see this correction you show here until after I watched a video that showed how to c heck the needle plate for any groves or holes. My needle plate had a huge groove in it. Two of them and my thread was never going to slide without getting stuck so I took the plate off and used my metal mail file to file the groove down. I was trying to hem my son’s jeans for a wedding he was in that coming weekend and I didn’t have time to order a new plate from Amazon or even get it to the repair shop. The filling worked pretty good but I still had some bobbin tension issues, which I am now sure it was the thing you show in this video, a couple of times I could hear and see that the bobbin holder was jumping in there when the machine would jam. I saw what you did here in another video and that was my problem after I had fixed the grooves in the needle plate. In the video I saw how he should what you show in this video, but he also took the bobbin holder out and showed how to adjust the tension screw after breaking that yellow paint dot in the screw. Took a few tries to get it right but that combined with having that bitch thing like you did here solved all my tension problems until now when some of it’s happening all over again as u try to see lightweight cotton material. I also didn’t realize the size of the needle matters quite a bit, too! Thanks for the easy to understand way you did this video. It’s great & helping a lot of people in here!!

You need to have adequate clearance between that black nub and the tiny metal spring to allow thread to pass easily. It should be spaced away from the touching the spring by at least two thickness's of cereal box cardboard. Then the bobbin case will not get twisted around.

@@jamiemciver2326 That is minimum for clearance. I have some machines factory adjusted to twice that clearance there. The thread passes through there really fast and needs that clearance.

Welcome 😀
Hi Jamie, thanks for this video! I used it a few months ago with great success. However this issue is now recurring so frequently that I can't even sew a few inches without the bobbin casing slipping and catching in the same spot. Does anyone have any experience with this, or any tips? I don't see any areas that could really be tightened or adjusted. It is maddening!

First thing I am thinking is thread tension. I would look into a walkthrough of how to adjust it properly. I can't think of anything else that might cause it right now
The needle plate holds the bobbin case in place if you take it off to have a closer look at a thread jam, and then turn the hand wheel with the needle threaded and the plate off, the bobbin can pop out.

I'm not 100% familiar with what you are saying but appreciate the input. I'll look more closely at this in a minute. Thank you :)

After examining your question I completely understand what you are saying now. This it is important to have the plate fastened down properly

After changing the bobbin for the first time on a new Singer Heavy Duty 4423, I had a thread jam. I took the needle plate off to get a closer look. I jiggled the wheel to get the thread out and the bobbin case popped out. I left the plate off to see what was going wrong and the case popped out again. Then I found out from another KZreadr: "Man Sewing", that the plate holds the bobbin case in place, (the tab on the left under the bobbin cover.) I put it back but still had to rethread the bobbin and the top thread, and then it worked

That's great to hear. I was hoping I wasn't the only person who didn't realize something so simple :)
Mine makes a very loud noise and the needle barley moves down what could this be ?

I made this video to specifically address the bobbin position. I'm sorry I'm not much help on noises or reduced needle movement :/
What did you use to remove the cover plate 😅😅
