@dianneunderwood84564 ай бұрын
Yes and another reason it makes that wad of thread could be the take - up lever has become unthreaded. It is hard to see in these newer models when that happens because the lever is almost hidden. On my old machine (a Singer 860 that is over 40 years old) it sits out more to the front of the machine and I have to say I rarely ever have that issue with it!. These newer machines are certainly more prone to unthreading there (recently purchased a Singer heavy duty model). I was quite shocked that the rotating bobbin case was moved enough to cause the timing problem. Certainly will watch for this problem for the future (especially on my new one) and thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I had the same thing happen with the needle jamming in my Singer 4452. After taking the plate off, I noticed a small metal bracket in the lower right corner that was catching threads. I unscrewed the bracket and was able to make a slight adjustment because the holes were ever-so-slightly slotted. After making that adjustment, the machine now works perfectly.

I had the same issue within the first few hours with my 4411,what you did to fix it won't last and it will happen again when another birds nest occurs. The calibration of the cam is off. Ultimately fixing it requires you to flip the machine over and remove the 3 large screws under the cam holding the cover on, your going to see a rod and gears. On the main gear there are 2 allen screws that you need to loosen then drop the needle all the way down and spin the cam around until the hook is really close to the needle like 3mm away, then tighten the allen screws good to hold that. (your going to flip the machine back and forth a few times to see and do this with the bobbin holder out) It seems like the more jams people have with these the more those screws loosen until calibration is thrown completely off (like mine). I almost returned it but it was working good after this. Guess this is what the shops mainly deal with and I think the screws are not as tight as they should be from the factory. Also this is where your going to eventually re-grease the main gear someday.

@h4z4rd1000

The Video was horrible advice, by doing this I sheared part of a gear and might now need a replacement gear, and to take apart the mechanism even more. What you wrote was right, the machine should be retimed by opening it up, don't use force! We have the 4423, the belt has teeth, so unless there are already screws loose, this might damage the machine. P.S. We fixed the gears teeth with a hot screwdriver roughly and then heated it directly and turned it though the other gear to smooth it out, that actually worked. Taking the timing belt of it's gear realining everything and putting it back on, fixed the whole machine.

THANK YOU SO MUCH you are the only person who has posted an actual solution for my issue. I could not adjust the timing gear at all and it turns out i had the belt slip like you said.
Thank you bud, you're a legend ! thought i had bought a lemon after it jammed and kept doing so after i bought it as a "as new condition from Amazon"

You would think they would put an access panel to easily set / check timing on the bottom but I guess they sell more machines this way... Glad it helped!
Very thankful for the video and I want to share two tips when removing the plate just "poke" the Right Top Corner and it tilt's up & the screws can be removed with the edge of a metal bobbin or a penny even with the machine needle . Thanks again for this video.
So incredibly grateful for this video! I have the exact same model and was experiencing this problem and looked up a ton of videos with no solution! I finally got so fed up with this machine i bought a new model today and as i was looking up videos on my new singer M1000 i stumbled across your video and i cant wait to hop back on my old one and see if i can get it working again!!! 🎉 ❤
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You’re a life saver. I was so sad my machine kept locking up and this fixed it!
Thank you so much! This was helpful. Especially when we didn't remember what it looked like before talking it apart to get ribon that got stuck in there so we looked back to see what it's supost to look like.
Thank you so much for this video. Because of you I can continue sewing again without having to purchase a new machine. Great that you shared your knowledge.❤❤❤😊
Got a machine from a "friend". I guess she couldn't saw with it for the same reason. I'm also more of a mechanic than a sawing guru... and I took it apart and found to the same issue. Fixed now!!! ❤Yaaaay! Thank you!

Okay, I am coffeed up and happy to report your fix worked! Less than 5 minutes, done!! You saved me probably 175.00 service call!!
thank you for this video! i haven’t bought this machine yet, but have been watching reviews as to whether or not this is a good machine to get. so far ive mostly heard good things, and coming across this video gives me hope that even if I do encounter issues with the machine, there’ll be a way to fix it. so once again, thank you!
Thank you so much. Was going nuts and finally came across your video. Sorted!!! Thank you xxx
The rats nest of thread jamming up from the bobbin... Admirable perseverance to go beyond 2hrs of diagnostic frustration w/o buying a new machine, as I have done x 3. The biggest kudos are for helping your fellow man by taking the time to film and post clear concise description of cause, condition, and cure. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Couldn’t break it anymore right? Thanks for the kind words
The explanations you provided were incredibly helpful! They saved me from having to take my Singer machine to the mechanic. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you, finally an answer for years of frustration! God bless you ❤.
Another life that you have saved!! Thank you so much
I freaking did buy a new machine of this, I had the cheapest brother machine and bought the Singer heavy duty 4452, and again same shit, after using it three times , so, I'm soooooooo grateful for your video, thank you!!
Awesome!!! Hopefully this fixes it, I f’d up my wife’s machine trying to sew leather and same thing is happening. YOU’RE A GENIUS!

If you broke a needle, probably!
Thank you Thank you Thank you. This is exactly what happened to me. I have had it apart, cleaned, rethreaded yada yada, then I found you. So great. Thanks.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Omg! Thank you so much ! I don’t know what I would have done without this video! !! I don’t know how i did it hahaha but thanks to you I did ! Thank you!!!!
Literally just saved me after about 2 hrs of trying. Thanks sooooo much! I can finish my customers wig!
Thank you! My husband watched the video and fixed my problem. What helped the most was you showing how it’s supposed to look and work. 😅
You are an absolute legend sir. Many thanks!
You have just saved my sanity! It would have been at least 3 hours of driving, 2 weeks of delay and a large bill without this! One screw unscrewed, lifted the foot plate off and a quick shove with a screwdriver.. sorted 🎉❤🎉❤🎉 Thank you , thank you, thank you!!!

I’ve had this HD machine for 3 years making boat canvas Sunbrella covers. It’s spent more time in the repair shop being timed after I knock it out. I’m sitting here drink in hand with some tools and I’m fixing to fix this bitch. Thank you sir. Gentleman and scholar. This isn’t in the manual.

Ha! Thanks, glad it got you fixed up.
Thank you so much!!! This has completely saved me!
Thanks for the video. The belt you're referring to, saying it's not really tight and you can make it slip, is really a belt with teeth and you have to bump it hard enough to skip over a tooth. It's not just a simple slip. I have a Singer 4423 as well.
You are a Fantastic explainer! Thanks for making this!
VERY HELPFUL!!! Is there anything this guy can’t do!?!? 🤯🤩👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you I cannot thank you enough because this problem has been happening for months and I didn’t know how to fix it thank you.
Hi, thank you so much for uploading this video, we have been having this problem with the sewing machine for such a long time, today I decided to search on KZread. I followed your instructions and fixed the problem. It now works so smoothly, I was able to adjust my dress. I will be doing more sewing 🤩😍

WOW!! My issue was that the bobbin thread simply wasnt being picked up, after fixing that timing issue, it works amazing nkw
Oh my god! It worked. Thank you!
Thank you thank you thank you so much for this video that is so clear. I have fixed my machine thanks to you & would have had no idea otherwise.

So many reasons why I will, not ever purchase a Singer Sewing Machine made in the last 50+ years! I have several vintage/antique Singer machines and they all sew perfectly with no problems and easy fixes.
Thank you so much! Such a helpful video!

Mine has been working flawlessly since I re timed it. Great tech advice for older machines tho, thank you for the input!

Thank you sir. 💪🏽 appreciate the video
I'm having the same problem on a BRAND NEW machine!!! Sewed one seam with no trouble at all. Second side, everything jammed up! I'll try your method and hopefully it helps!
Thank you so much. We spent 3 hours - should have watched your video sooner. Thanks again
THank you so much!

Very Good, actually bloody excellent!
Way to go... had the same GRIEF! 😩and I had my machine already opened like you... the same machine too... It was your showing what was suppose to be actually happening and the window thingy being off in the timing... so don't ask me how lol but after a few adjustments of the metal circle being readjusted and my 3rd needle... and it going up & down smoothly and clear of hitting the inner circles and bending... I saw that the thread was picking up on that little arm and wrapping around... like it's suppose to... then I closed everything up... had my scrap fabric to test it and WAAAALAAAAH... BACK IN BUSINESS!! AP!! and thank you for sharing your experience and how to fix demonstration!!🙃🤩🤗

Wow thanks it worked!
Well this saved me a lot of time! thank you a lot Cool Stuff
I had this same issue--- sewing thick material with an old needle.. going too fast, wrong stitch settings.. this is very helpful.
Thanks for the video. I actually found that you can remove the black casing that the bobbin sits in and line it up correctly to fix it. No screwdriver needed for that part!

Thanks. I have this machine and since day one it’s been a pain. The button hole feature doesn’t work, jams, timing I hate it
Thankyou. I think this is my problem too.
Thank U! This is Exactly what's happened with mine.
Omg. I can’t believe I saw this video. I have the exact same problem identical. Only 3 hours of a pulled apart singer 4423. So I ordered another one because the repair guy wanted $150.00 min and 4 weeks min. So I bought another machine from Amazon. But I am going to try your way. And I’ll see if that works. I spent hours in this problem. lol. Thank you man I’ll let you know how I do.

Simple fix if it’s a clocking issue!
I thought I had a similar issue, but in my case, a "bird's nest" had lifted the black plastic bobbin holder out of place and all I needed to do was to loosen the screws holding it in place, re-seat it and it worked fine again.
Omg thank you so much !!!!
