I totally agree. I have lavs, several booms made by audio tecnica and rode. I was running them into my h4n and h1n until a few days ago. I tried them both with built in mics and was blown away. Now my h1n is mounted on my go pro for awesome results

That was actually a very good comparison. I almost didn't watch because of your intro where you say that you are an amateur, etc. Keep in mind most people monitor youtube videos through computer monitors, so the audience is amateurs, as well. Regardless, your comp is accurate enough to reveal that the H4n Pro sounds much better than H1 in the applications you demonstrated. Well done and thanks.

H1 I guess is more of a pocket option?Good vid. Do you use Audition for clean up work? I only recently discovered Premiere's master audio function which has saved me so much time. 😂

+Hissing Thoughts its pocket sized, but it only allows one channel 👌🏼 it also sounds a bit hollowed 🤔 But thank you! And I have used audition before! But I usually just use what's in premier to edit audio 😅

Great explanation, Can you please tell me connect to connect ZoomH1n and Boya BY M1 lav mic to my smartphone so that I can record Audio and Video in together.

I don't use my Zoom H4n PRO much because of my type of video (TOY R/C Model Planes) where I need someone to figure a way for my Canon XA-30 or T5i to take my H4n PRO from pause to record and back to pause as I press the Record/Pause button on the camera. I have the Wired Remote for the H4n PRO but need the H4n PRO better synced with the Record/Pause of my camera as there many shots are very short 3 to 10 seconds and as many shots as 25 to 30 or more in a single flight. and can be of different aircraft. So you can see the synchronization of audio can be very time consuming if not at all impossible. Any help out there PLZ.

Hi, for not receiving line signal + 4dbu, is H4n a recorder with less quality than others that receive + 4dbu or does not this detail affect the final audio quality of the H4n? Thanks and congratulations for the video.

Hi, I am undecided between H2N and H4NPro. I understand the H4NPro has the surround effect if other microphones are connected. With the H2N it is possible to have a 2 / 4CH surround with its integrated microphones. What do I need to do to use what advice? I register events, excursions, dialogues and film my children. Thank you

Can I record my audio from Samson q2u as an mp3 file into Zoom h4n? In other words, can I record my audio without using the computer if I have Samson q2u and Zoom h4n? I do not want to use PC to record it as I have windows 10, and it has bugs accommodating the microphones. Please help?

They both have good sound (and equal white noise) not much diffrence apart from xlr inputs on h4n and some other features And the audio pre amp in h4n has more power, meaning it deliver more quiet sound from longer distance Apart from that you pretty much get the same sound from both I bought both👍 But the zoom h1n is pretty much with me all the time due to its extreme light weight

Hey man, if you still receiving this comment could you please give your opinion on how good they are when it comes to recording loud sounds like trains. Is the h1n close to h4n for loud sounds?

They often do. The Zoom H4 series has AMAZING built-in mics. I plop it down on a Manfrotto Pixi mini-tripod near the speaker with a furry windscreen on the end and never have worry about my audio.

Miles better - I read the H4n uses the H5 and H6 pre-amps, which are very low noise compared to the H1 and others presumably cheaper. I was going to buy the Rode Videomic but I just don't rate it at all after using one for a week, it's directional sure but you almost always will want something closer to the subject for dialogue, or something with less noise for ambience

For recording guitar and trying to make a song would the 4 track on the h4n dominate the little brother, and built in guitar effects

Thanks! I found a similar tripod made by Dell for one of their mini projectors.
