The ZMO VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) Aircraft is set up to work with the DJI Digital FPV V1 system which means you can just bind it directly to your DJI radio and goggles and start flying. It's pretty simple to assemble, made from highly durable materials and beginner friendly. It's designed to take off and land vertically, so you don't need a big runway. But you do need some open space.
In this video we unbox the ZMO Aircraft, assemble it, and take it for a couple of flights, both flying line-of-sight and FPV within the DJI goggles. Check out this video to see how the ZMO flies and what we think of the ZMO Aircraft from OMP Hobby.

This is a great plane, it flys very well, no throttle control takes some getting used to, but also makes it beginner friendly. Some great chase footage!
Looks Great, Kelly! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Kelly Great video and review of the VMO FPV aircraft. Well I'm out, I won't pay $1300 for Foam. This is not for the weekend flyers, but it is very nice that it came with its own case. I have been flying fix-wing for 50 years, and have seen this style craft plenty of times. It is nice to work with the DJI system and to have GPS. I just need to get VMO to send me one to review. Thanks again for the video and information

100% agree buddy not worth anywhere near the current prices...massively overpriced considering you even have to supply your own action cam for quality footage...makers are dreaming
With the DJI Goggles does it show the HUD? Also the max flight time isn’t 60 minute’s as advertised?
Which flight controller does the ZMO pro vtol use? How many channels does it support? Is it compatible with the Dragonlink v3 which operates @433mhz @1.5mw?

Great 👍 vídeo. I’ve noticed you bought the BNF version without the DJI transmitter and used your own. How did you make the binding procedures with your transmitter? is it necessary to perform a special set up for configuring the hover/airplane mode and the VTail mixing as well? Thank you!!

Two questions. What features does the new Pro model add? And would this be feasible for a first time flier? Take care. Tom
@readysetdrone
Жыл бұрын
Hi Tom. I don't have the new Pro model, but briefly looking at the listing, it seems like the flight controller is upgraded. Also, there are a few options regarding which controller you get. To answer your second question, honestly, at that price, I think it's a bit risky to be your first flyer. If you have experience with FPV quads, maybe you'll be ok, but just be sure you know how to switch back to vertical mode whenever you need to. And, in case you didn't see what happened to mine, when there's a crash, it's expensive! 👇💸 kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmh8uqWRoLS3c7A.html
For some reason I can not get my ZMO to unlock take-off mode. The status light says GPS connected with flashing green lights. Also I am not able to enable GPS calibration. Any suggestions? does the GPS needs to be calibrated first before allowing take off?
@readysetdrone
Жыл бұрын
Hmm. I don't think we did any GPS calibration -- just the compass. Is your controller bound with your Air/Vista unit? It sounds like the problem could be with your controller or that it's not bound. I seem to remember that if you bind the controller before the Goggles, you might need to bind the controller again.
@sidneyking11
Жыл бұрын
@@readysetdrone okay I will give that a try. In the manual the calibration is called GPS calibration, maybe they translated it wrong. it should be called compass calibration.
It there any way of knowing the battery level in flight?
@readysetdrone
2 жыл бұрын
Not that I can tell. But it will RTH automatically if the battery level gets too low. You only can tell by looking at the blinking lights.
It also has manual mode, so when flying as a plane, you can do rolls, etc. and the stabilization mode is turned off (RTH will not work when in manual mode).
I was about to get the reptile dragon or the my twin dream ... but yeah this look like it worth it. Take my money please. :)

Kelly, great video of the fixed wing, v-tail, VTOL, FPV drone. Looks like good build quality and yes, having it come with the protection storage/transportation case is great....I remember when the P4 original came with the EPF Foam case and was mocked as a "beer cooler"....But I knew of its material properties how tough that foam is....It has since taken off to be the primary RTF, BNF, or hobby built RC model aircraft build material..... Looks like ZMO has taken full advantage of that in their design of aircraft and case. Little pricey....Thinks its worth it? If it had a 1" CMOS 3'axis gimbal stabilization camera I would say yes. Nice it has the FVP camera. But both cameras would be cool... Thanks for review....How long was the flight times if you had the GoPro or DJI Action original as payload....Although Action 2 is lighter...Hmmmm.
@readysetdrone
2 жыл бұрын
Definitely a little in the pricey side, but it's a high quality experience. I haven't tested the full flight time with a GoPro / Action camera on board, but my guess would be around 30 to 40 minutes. Thanks for watching, Addy.
Fantastic. Would need to fly line of sight in uk, can you use it with a phone rather than the FPV system?
@readysetdrone
2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely fly it line of sight. It won't connect to your phone, but you don't need the goggles to fly it. Just the DJI remote.
Great Video! I have the DJI FPV drone. If I get this VTOL, is it difficult to bind my goggles back and forth between the two?
@readysetdrone

You can bind the V2 goggles, but you will need the original DJI transmitter to bind with the AIR unit. The tx that comes with the DJI drone won’t work.

It's a bit delicate, as you may have seen in our video of the crash.... Linked here kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmh8uqWRoLS3c7A.htmlsi=dMnK1iD44awG-KOG Also, it is definitely not cheap, but it's a specialty wing, being a VTOL, and it's got the DJI system. We aren't really into wings very much, but if you are, (and you're not planning to crash into a tree), then it's fun to fly, for sure!

Can you fly this with a tablet instead of fpv?
@readysetdrone

It uses the DJI video transmission technology, which requires the DJI FPV goggles, however, you can plug an Android device into the goggles and use that as your monitor. I haven't used that method as a primary view source to fly with, so I'm not sure if there is any problem with latency.

Great video and over view RSD. The price seems a little high but you may get better value with the Basic model at 899.00. It looks like the FC runs on Ardupilot firmware. If you use your own Radio transmitter and receiver [Radiomaster with TBS Crossfire] and a 1.3 Video set up you will still have a [perhaps even more] capable bird. Compare this set up with an MFD Nimbus, Orange Pixhawk FC and the aforementioned support equipment and the price is really not to outrageous. And with the ZMO you of course get VTOL capabilities right out the box. Again...Great video.

Hey brother awesome video I wanted to get a new drone I have the hubsan Zion mini pro but sadly the places I go and take it to fly have pour satellite signal or bad gps I’m a over the road trucker and I do a lot of traveling all over the country I like this drone you shared is it good out in mountains and country parts with no cell service like Idaho Montana and further west? I just want a drone that I can fly and explore wildlife while I’m stuck in my semi truck is this drone good for that or would you recommend me something better? If you could give me feed back it would be a big help!! I already spent $700 on the hubsan I just want something I can take anywhere thank you!

I'd suggest the Air 2s or the DJI mini 2. Both of those are great drones and they acquire satellites for stable GPS flying, without any issues. Have a great time flying.
It looks really cool but I could never spend $1,100 on something made of foam. The flight time and range seems very impressive and I see that being a huge upside over a traditional drone.

I don’t think those two holes are the references for the CG. The body of the plane has a bump on the underside (it’s a protruding line) just before the section where the wing attaches to the body. I believe those are the bumps they are referencing.

what kind of range we talking about with this . video range and quality.. need a range test video.. and RTH test
@readysetdrone
2 жыл бұрын
It uses the DJI FPV system (video transmitter and controller, along with goggles) so the range is typically just over 2 miles, without other interfering signals getting in the way. The RTH test is at 15:18 in this video.
@arnauddecotter

if the radio loose signal does the RTH activated automatically. and how far would this be approximately.. also I wonder if the entenna could be upgrade to improve range and video quality?
@readysetdrone
2 жыл бұрын
I haven't verified how far I can go before it loses range, since doing it legally would be difficult. Yes, RTH should be activated if the radio loses signal. I haven't tried it though. I only tested RTH by flipping the switch. There is a possibility that you could try antenna modifications to achieve more range.

@@readysetdrone would be nice to go out away from population and do some proper range test and video test. Check the quality and range.. not much fun if its only limited to line of sight at this price.
It's a good product. Just a little outdated and overpriced. A fixed-wing VTOL airframe should be around 200 bucks. Plus all the accessories, and the DJI FPV unit. It should be somewhere around $600 for retail.

I'm in the market for a good VTOL if this is outdated what should I buy for this price in comparison?
@enzok6414
2 жыл бұрын
@@outdoortherapy6596 By outdated I mean the FPV system. The Dji air unit was released many years ago. Many parameters are limited. Like range, mbps, latency, etc. And you will have to get the Dji controller(another outdated piece of equipment) to fly it. For the price. There is no cheaper alternatives on the market. However, that doesn't mean it's not overpriced. You are essentially buying a PNP model for 900 bucks. Should you buy it? Sure, if you really want to experience some VTOL & fixed-wing FPV product, and if you have the money. And don't mind getting a soon/already outdated product.
The Amazon link is $400 more expensive than the manufacturer website.
I like it but that's too much money for something made out of the packaging it arrived in 😁
