I never knew SpectraSonics' "Iceland" was Majora's Mask's "Final Hours!" That's really cool! One of my favorite tracks from the game. :3 I actually never knew any of these samples, except for the chanting.

Personal favorite is from Zelda II - The Palace Theme, a small part sounds like "Looks That Kill" by Motley Crue

It is interesting that the Zero-G: Ethnic AFLAT LOOP26 sample while in both the old and new Ocarina of Time Fire Temple Themes can be heard much more clearly on the new theme than the old theme.

that chant kind of covers it up, and without that it's really easy to hear

What a trip to find out the sample from Mystery of Bulgarian Voices was used in Vast- Touched as well as a Zelda game. Good find👍🏻

I think that pretty much confirms that it's from a sample library

2:06 i think this might also be used in The Binding of Isaac for when you pick up black hearts. a bit downshifted and shortened, but it sounds similar. maybe edmund mcmillen used that sample set for the angelic sounds too. like when you pick up a soul heart or kill the beast.

pure nostalgia! these freaky samples always scared me, but the weirdness is what makes the songs so memorable. honestly, it perfectly captures the surrounding Y2K eras. ending & begining of millennium. truly a Distorted Reality!

Just want to add, the sample used for Ganon's tower in Wind Waker was also used in the song "Touched" by the band Vast. Touched was also sampled, for wrestler AJ Styles, when he wrestled in Ring of Honor. The song, from what I remember, was called "Demi-Gods," but I'm not sure about that part, so don't quote me on it.

The resemblance may not be the most striking, but a passage from Twilight Princess' starting village theme is very similar to F.R. David's song "Words".

On that Zelda twilight princess song, hallelujah, kinda reminds me of an 80’s dance song called Hashim - Al Naafiysh (The Soul), mainly at 55 second mark

My god this has sent me down a rabbithole. Awesome video, cannot believe I just found this now as for many years I have heard music from different media, specifically video games, found in other stuff but just thought I was crazy. I have no musical background so I am not able to understand how or why things seems to line up but when they do it is weird. For an example off the top of my head when I heard the song "Marijuana" by Kid Cudi I SWEAR I heard Super Metroid in the background or sampled. I can not prove it, but I swear there are parts from Brinstar Overgrown with Vegetation Area used, but it could also just be in my head. Side note, loving these comments!

Rubber Wall sample from Distorted Reality also sounds like the Sega's eye logo, also if u ever plan 2 do a Castlevania sample list, ep. 1 of Visionaries has a statue monster that sounds like Dracula's scream in Bloodlines

Just came over from watching gamesack and just noticed that one of the fight scene music in rent a hero on dreamcast has a very familiar first few chords that are reminiscent of axel f (that Beverly hills cop theme music' latter released by crazy frog in the army 00s as well) tye music from gerudo Valley is also a smaple as well. Otherwise, Kanye West (or whatever the hell he likes go by these days) couldn't have ripped it to one of his songs. That was a big thing doing the rounds of the retro gaming community a year or 2 back. Also, that mystery of Bulgaria/wind waker sample doesn't half sound like the opening theme to the ghost in the shell anime movie......edit. I really should just watch the bloody video first before commenting, lol

I don't think I've seen this mentioned in your videos yet but I think the original NES TMNT's overworld theme sounds like Billy Joel's Tell Me Why. edit: of course after I see the response I realize the song is called "Don't Ask Me Why" but I stand by the similarity!

Unrelated to video games, but i'm taking a chance here, maybe someone could help me finally found a particular song, hearing the "mystery of Bulgerian voices" here, i recognize it from a techno pop song i've been looking for forever. To my recollection, it sample the part heard here from Pilentze Pee and the over all track has a "smack my bitch up" vibe. It's from the early 2000's if i'm not mistaken.

here's a few possibilities, 6 other songs that use the sample.. ranging from early 1991 to around 2015 - VAST - Touched - What So Not - Touched - Pilentze Pee by Flowsky - Another Man's Rhubarb (7" Mix) by Pop Will Eat Itself - Arca - Covenant - Al'Tarba - Laisse Moi Entrer
