ZEISS Vintage into CINEMA Lens CONVERSION - Affordable CINE Lens Set of INDEPENDENCE │ Gear Guide

Ойын-сауық

In this Video i show you how i did a full Cinema Lens Conversion on some old vintage Zeiss Lenses, like Biometar and Flektogon, to get an affordable full Prime Set of Cine Lenses and also a little more Independence as a filmmaker.
The whole set is pretty affordable with just around 1000€ for 5 Zeiss Prime Lenses with all extras. And for being Vintage Lenses they hold up really well with modern lenses and also have their own charme. I already Love them and use them a lot!
Here are all the Lenses i used for the Set and what i paid for them
Zeiss Flektogon 20mm f2,8 -250€
Zeiss Flektogon 35mm f2,4 -200€
Zeiss Biometar 80mm f2,8 -100€
Zeiss Biometar120mm f2,8 -200€
Zeiss Sonnar 180mm f2,8 -150€
And further if you want to 3D Print the FocusRings yourself, here is a link to download the .stl files and the user Manual. I advice you to read the Manual because you have to fine scale the rings in your printing Software before they actually fit:
wolffvisuals.de/yt_files/zeiss_rings.rar
If you print and use them it would be cool if you send me a quick pic on Instagram for example :)
And please don´t upload the rings somewhere else!
Thank you and have fun with it!

    Oh and yes, I do suffer from G.A.S. and I am on the vintage lens kick, currently. I have not been able to remove my Vivitar 50mm f1.8 from my Sony a7III. It's too pretty. Would love to cine-mod it, may consider that.

    Haha ! Maybe the more interesting question would be.. who doesn´t suffer from G.A.S. !? I can totally feel you there. I've fallen in love with vintage lenses. I have a Vivitar 28mm f2.5, an Asahi Super Takumar 50mm f1.4, a Helios 44m f2, and a Vivitar 135mm f2.8. Super informatives Video!

  • @PracticalEffectsGuy

    @PracticalEffectsGuy

    3 жыл бұрын

    oh ! thanks for the information x) i haven´t actually even looked at the higher focal length lenses, because the declicking was especially interesting for me to walk from darker places to brighter places with the camera, and i wouldn´t do that with a 120mm lens for example. but still very good to know!

    Great video. Im looking at building a vintage set of primes. This Cine Zeiss set you built is bad ass. Im all over the place. I got a Helios 44-2 (58) and am looking at Zeiss/Nikkors (18,20) Takumars/Canon (24,35), , and Jupiters (100,105,135) for an eclectic set on an Sony APS-C.

  • @PracticalEffectsGuy

    @PracticalEffectsGuy

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thx Mate! Yeah, there are definitely tons of other options you can go for. For me it was important to have a lens set from the same Line or at least same Brand. Something like the Helios and Jupiters i would only use if they fit in story wise, because of their different aesthetic. But still, the selection you're looking at sounds fire!

    Wow this is cool. I'm an indie filmmaker so I can't afford the highest quality gear, but this looks great. I may look into this. It's especially appealing because of the Zeiss glass. Too bad the aperture can't go down any lower.. Is there another super wide lens like a 20-28mm that goes down past 2.8 that you know of?

  • @PracticalEffectsGuy

    @PracticalEffectsGuy

    5 жыл бұрын

    yep, there are moments when i wish they would be a little faster but that´s clearly one small compromise here. a super wide angle lens with such an aperture is in general hard to find.. only things that come to my mind is an old vivitar 28mm 1.9 but that´s quite rare.. or you get a SLR Magic 25mm F1.4 CINE Lens, which is actually very affordable with 300-500€
