Wonderful! Great cut tutorial- can’t wait to try this. I prefer the blunt cut visually, but I love knowing both techniques. Thanks a bunch! Keep up the good work ❤
Summer! Thank you so much for this great video! I did this on myself, and it turned out great! First, I cut my perimeter, and I got that darn v in the back, but I cut that longest part that travels the most, and then the vi was gone. Then I followed each step carefully as you did in the video. I did the blunt, not point, cut. After a blow out, it was PERFECT! You are the best. You are so talented and you have such a beautiful camera presence. I love all your videos! Thanks a ton!
Just found your channel today - after I already cut my own hair... 😄 I have cut my own hair many times and it turned out ok today, but it could be better. Now that I've seen this video I'm going to go back over it! Your instruction and clear videos are excellent. I especially appreciate how simple you keep your explanations. Very impressed. Thank you so much!!😍
Square layers. Exactly what I've been wanting my haircut. I so loooooove your tutorial. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
The explanation was done so well that everything was easy to understand and one could see the effects of different cutting techniques.
This is the best tutorial on the different layered cuts I've seen. Thanks ❤😊
This tutorial is one of the most METHODICAL and CLEAR explanations! Thank you so much for your tips throughout and your expertise! I think I could actually do this! Thank YOU!! 💖💖💖💖
I have super fine medium length hair that I struggle to keep layered for body without compromising the weight or without having a distinct gap between the crown and the ends…but the blunt square cut technique is a game changer!! I always did the round point cut but I’m blown away at the body and layer definition in my hair now using the square technique!! It works beautifully!! And you’re so right, it was the easiest cut and the fastest too! Thank you for sharing this!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I just cut my hair folloing your tutorial. My hair is very thick, curly and silver gray, very difficult to manage. I as so scared going in, but I'm pleased ith the end result. This is my first serious attempt at cutting my on hair. Thank you for the great tutorial!!!!
Totally agree, if you go too short with the layers you will definitely see a disconnect. Great job, loved the cut.
Great tutorial! I learned how to do square layers way back in 1996 as a student of Graham Webb Academy. The only difference was, they taught to take pie shaped sections around the back, which after seei g how you do it seems counterproductive. I suffered a neck injury shortly after graduating from GW, so never pursued a career in hairdressing. But doing hair for family, square was always my favorite to do! Thank you for showing point vs blunt cut on the same head. That was so helpful to see them together in the same haircut. That being said, my stylist always point cuts my hair. Next time I'm telling him to blunt cut the layers instead. STUNNING!!!
Thank you!!!!! I just did this on my own hair and it came out perfect !! Def my go-to diy haircut
You just made my haircuts so much easier, Miss. Thank you from my heart❤
OMG after watching this I questioned all the things I'm learning in hair school. Why aren't they teaching it this way??? This is SO much easier and looks flawless, not choppy the way they showed me
Hi Summer! I just cut my mum's hair with this tutorial and it turned out great! Thank you for your beautiful and detailed tutorial ❤
Thank you!!! I’m a new hairdresser and this helped so much 💖💖💖
I did it on my own and guess what it was my first and it turned out amazing thank you! it was easier than it looks
I love it! First time i'm seeing this type of layered cut. I'm going to try this over the weekend. Both sides are pretty but for me, I like the blunt ❤
I really like the way that you handled both cuts vary vary unique
Okay, this turned out amazing. Thank you!
As a cosmetology student I am soooo grateful for your educational videos thankyou queen❤❤

This was so helpful! Thank you!
Hi summer, I love watching your videos. I actually did this technique the other day and it was the first time in my career that I felt just absolutely happy with the results of the haircut. I’ve been out of Beauty school for two years and have taken numerous classes and still not felt as confident as I did watching this video and re-creating it. Thank you for your education you don’t know how much it truly means to me.

Omg I am so happy to hear that and that means so much to me!!! Keep on at it girl! Even 16yrs in I have my moments of feeling like I could have done better!
Great tutorial and the result was beautiful. Thanks
Hands down best instruction video I've seen
This was REALLY educational. You're a great teacherq. Both methods are beautiful. I think each may look different depending on if the hair is freshly washed vs 2 or 3 days "dirty" if that makes sense. I would ask client how often they wash their hair.
Thank you for sharing your technique, i watched so many, yours is the easiest to understand and folow❤
JUST BEAUTIFUL! THANK YOU!
Ill definitely try this technique. Looked so gd for me to use when cutting my own hair. Thk U.
Loooove it! Your tutorial is so clear and easy to follow. Thank you!!! It's been a while since I cut hair and I miss it. This was an easy refresher crash course.❤❤❤❤❤

Hi Summer!! Omg! I am sook glad i came across your channel! I am a new cosmetology student and your videos are sooo beautifully put together. I really love the fact that you show how to do BOTH sides. Most videos simply say "repeat " other side..i love love your videos.. ❤❤

Hey! Glad you found me 😊. I only recently started doing these side by side videos and they are so much more fun!
Nice hair cut, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Hi Summer! Found you through Glam Girl Gabi... So glad I did! This is exactly what I have been wanting for my hair, but have failed to articulate. I really appreciate the videos you have shared that give us the right vocabulary to get what we want! "Surface layers" "drop the perimeter"... square cut vs round cut layers, effects of blunt cut vs point cutting... what to ask for to get what you want and more importantly, what we don't want! Pics help a hairdresser see what we want, but our head shapes and hairline along with hair density can really change a haircut. Going in to a poor hairdresser saying "I want layers" vs "I want long surface layers, square cut to protect my length"... game changer!

Wish I could find a talented hair stylist like you! I just never seem to get the precision layered cut.
Woow I love it thank you for sharing your idea and knowledge to us 🤗
Thank you Master Summer.God bless Master Summer and family.😀🙏👍🙋🏻♀
Summer, I love your videos! I have been watching for about a year or so. I trimmed my hair and I did blunt cutting on the right side and point cutting on the left side of my head. The right side has more texture, wow. I like both but it might look better if both sides matched. I think I will blunt cut a little on the left side. Thank you!
very nice tutorial,thanks for sharing
Wow, you're very good! I wish I had someone like you to cut my hair. I'm 65 and I can probably count on one hand the number of good haircuts I've had. Consequently I've been cutting my own hair for decades. And I'm pretty good at it
I enjoyed your super detailed cut! I enjoy watching and learning from others! Not everyone takes the time to teach new ways! Thanks so much! Going to cut my hair now 🤣
Thanks for popular explanation about the texture of the different cuttings❤

I definitely prefer blunt cut. Both are nice but for my hair I think blunt would work better. Thank you for such a helpful video! ❤
Thank you Summer for another great video. I guess I'm going to have to show it to the next stylist I go to. I have been to several over the past few years, but sadly cannot find one that gives me what I ask for. Wish I could find someone like you.

Soprattutto per capire la posizione giusta e, sembra importante, del punto giusto di divisione cercata con il pettine all'inizio. Grazie
always love your videos, you said you colored the dolls hair the other day, I am in love with the color, it looks like maybe some possible just very gent highlights also or no? I would love to know the color and formulation for the color it is beautiful also have you done this cut with slightly shorter bang/side swept bang? long bangs on me not flattering but a slight swept bang like probable mid eye length without making the whole top that same length and gently blending in more
The square blunt cut does give more definition. These videos are great, thanks.

Wowww thank you for your tutorial!! Idk why its so hard to learn cut here in Japan😂😭 plus I'm a slow learner too
Bravo pour la coupe merci❤❤❤❤
Looks amazing! Do you still part in the middle when cutting even if you want to have a side part?
Thank you so much 💓 😊 you are very good 👍 to teach a beautiful haircut 💇♀️ 😊 that easy to cut ✂️ my own hair cut at home 🏡 I will cut ✂️ my hair like this soon I love it 😀
Excellent tutorial~ thank you! That's about the length I want as well, so even if I mess it up, I should have enough left for a professional to work with since my length is now well past my shoulders. =) I am a bit nervous about the initial perimeter cut/length however, so maybe I'll have my husband do that part, the back I should say~ thx again Summer
Hi 👋. I'm your big fan. You teach very well 👏 👌
Wooow, very nice. Thank for sharing on how to do it..
Blunt cutting it great for fine hair but I would point cut for clients with thicker hair to give a softer effect on the layers
Thank you… easy and nice effect and look.
