HOW I CUT MY OWN HAIR AT HOME (Easiest Long Layers) ✂️
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This was one of my FAVORITE haircuts ever! 😄 In this video I'm going to show you the super quick & easy DIY way I cut long layers into my own hair using a modified "butterfly cut" method to keep the layers in the back long and tapered while the front is full of volume like in a 90's layered haircut.
I'm just soooo impressed with the results! Give the vid a thumbs up if it was helpful and let me know if you try it out ✂️

I've been wanting to try cutting my own hair for the longest time and finally just DID IT! I'm actually so, so pleased with how good it turned out so I'm definitely going to do this again in the future, especially since I'm pretty picky with salon cuts and I hate that awkward part at the end if you want to adjust anything. Anyone else like this? 😅 It was actually very easy and straightforward so I hope this was helpful!

I L❤VE IT! I only tried Brad Mondo’s tutorial and it came out very similar to your style. It feels so refreshing, right? I, too, saw very little length removed but the feel and body was so apparent. You did an outstanding job! It almost gives K-Pop star vibes. ✨❤✨

Thank you! I always get waaaay too many layers cut into my hair. If I can just cut my own hair I would never have a bad haircut again.

Superb lovely dear
Okay. So I just used this cutting style to try for long layers in my hair. She makes it look easy because I'm sure that there is editing that's been done. So what I did, and my hair ended up great, was watch a video three times in a row. When I did my front section I watched how she did it three times. It's almost like measure twice cut. The secret to getting this right is time, time, time. Take your time and do not rush. If you have to do it for 5 times before you cut then measure for five times. This worked out extremely well for me. It probably took me about 45 minutes. Straighten your hair before you do this, and use hair cutting scissors that aren't blunt. If you follow her directions exactly, you will be happy with the way it turns out.
You explained the exact haircut I always ask for and never get 🤣🤣
I get this! I asked my hair stylist for some really light layers and framing around my face. She said no because it's too thin. But I've had them before and they looked great! Lol so I've just started cutting my own hair. I can't justify spending over $80 on a haircut that isn't even fully what I want. You did a GREAT job! Looks beautiful! 🙌🏻
So I just cut my hair following exactly what you did and it came out amazing!! This is actually the first time I've cut my hair and I'm so happy with the results. Thank you so much. I will be cutting my own hair from now on!
Girlssssss.. I'm giving the honest review. I tried it today and it turned out to be perfectttttt. You're gonna love it. But for the perfect look you've to do the partition of your hair as it is told in the video. Follow the steps and you'll achieve the perfect look.
Easy to watch hard to do .

I've cut mine and my daughter's hair for years, I will never go to a salon again. I gave my daughter a wolf cut last year, I cut 13 inches off, she LOVED it. Her friends all have me cut their hair now. It's honestly not hard if you follow the directions exactly
That's exactly how I want my hair to be and have been trimming my own hair too since I never liked the way they cut my hair at salons! Your video came out just in time for when I was thinking I needed to cut/style my hair!!

Yessss try it out! Tag me on instagram if you do it
I am a hairstylist...15 years ago....This is the best long layered cut I've ever given myself!!! Its so hard to cut your own long hair 😢😶 This one works because of the pointy length in the back. Love it! Thanks for the video❤
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, finally cut my own hair with layers just like you showed and I'm over the moon - you are amazing thank you.
I did this and half-assed it and it still looks great. I'm positive an actual hair stylist would see my mistakes but I'm happy with how it turned out, I just needed a quick refresh and this helped so much. I have thick long hair that is a mix of wavy, curly and straight so I figured there's not much I can do to make it look worse! I think it turned out nicely. My hubby likes it ❤
I’m so glad I found this video. I have a lot of the same preferences and am often disappointed by salon results. I can’t get anyone to give me the taper and layers I’m looking for, and end up with too much hair the same length. This technique was easy to follow and execute. I got the lightness, tapering, and varied layers I wanted, while maintaining length in the back. Thank you for saving my hair!
This is going to be my go to maintenance cut for the rest of my life! I was hesitant, but SO glad I did it. It took 5 min and gave my hair new life! 🤯
I am a hairdreser and I need to tell you I love how looks after the cut.

The hair cut style is suitable for curly hair? Should do that?
Okay THANK YOU!!!!!! I just did this and I feel 100000% better. my hair was driving me so crazy postpartum with hair loss, and the split ends and I've been itching to just slice it all off like Mulan, and I was probably about to give myself a bob out of need to fix it all, but following your steps has given it a style and it was soooo easy and feels so much better. Grazie Mille!!!!!
Perfect! And thank you. Mom of 6 here and no income to spend on myself so this is an absolute gift
The only tip I would give, put the unicorn horn part a bit more down. Like between the eyebrows, or you might accidentaly cut off more than you want and end up with horrible bangs.
This is such a great tutorial. As someone who has had unsuccessful hair cutting stories and trying to save some money, this was the best balance of mixing a butterfly cut with just cutting some layers while maintaining length!
Followed this cut yesterday and it turned out amazing with my natural wavy hair 😊
Finally somebody who breaks it down so easy. Thank you!!!❤
I think this method only looks good when it's styled. Not straight. The layers are way to wonky and harsh.. But curled it looks good!
I wished I could give you more than just one like for this video. I use it every time I cu my hair since the lockdown. I too have very thick hair and was often disappointed with salon cuts. Many thanks 🙏🏽
I just used your method to cut my daughter's hair and it turned out AWESOME! This technique really works for long layers with a v shape in the back. I will definitely do this again! Thanks so much for posting! Love it!
I’d love to see this same haircut on curly hair!
I did it and it ended looking so good! thank you for the tutorial!
BEST video I’ve seen on layered hair. Awesome!!!
This turned out better than any haircut I've ever gotten at a salon! And it was very forgiving if you don't do it perfectly. I even tipped myself with an expensive latte and candy 😊
100% recommend!!! I did it and it came out really nice. It’s been about 15 years since I had l layers and today I decided to give it a try and I’m happy with the end results definitely recommend! Thank you
I tried it today, and it worked very well!! Thank you so much.
I just did this! It looks great -- I will definitely keep doing this haircut forever now!
Did this video last night, I’m innnnn love with my new hair cut, thank you !! I’ve been growing out a blunt cut hair cut and this has been a game changer ❤❤❤
Okay I just used your video to cut my long limp lifeless hair that I was going to go to the salon and probably pay no less than $100 for something I may or may not like….your video helped me cut my own hair and save the money and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! 😍 Thanks for sharing 🩵👍🏻
Thank you for making this video. This is exactly how I like my layers to look. I have used it twice now (few months apart) and now I’m absolutely certain I don’t need to leave a hairdresser’s unsatisfied again. I always wear my hair wavy or curly so it’s a perfect cut for that style. ❤
Thank you so very much for this video. I used your method and trimmed my own hair for the first time by myself. It was so well taught that I did it with confidence and love the results!!! I will look forward to seeing more of your videos. ❤❤❤❤🌸🌸🌸🙏
Holy crap this is the exact look I've been after for a couple of decades and NOBODY gets it right!! Definitely doing this. I've just been shaving my head every few months since COVID, but I wanted to grow it out and it's looking really ratty. I've gotten a bit cheap since I stopped getting it done regularly. 🤣 I just can't justify spending hundreds of $$ every 4-6 weeks on my hair anymore!
Im really excited to try this! I have really thick, wavy-straight hair, too, so this is perfect!
I tried it today and it came out really amazing 🤩 It's very easy . Thanks to you❤️
I DID THIS. I followed your video and cut my own hair, I have straight asian hair so it was easy to follow your video. Thank you for sharing this tutorial, I've saved this video for future cuts when my hair grows out ♥
Thank you, tried it myself and it worked perfectly
I did it! You made it so easy to understand. Thank you. I needed a trim but couldn’t afford a salon.
Mission accomplished and I love it. I love my long hair but it was so worth taking off 14 inches. Thank you thank you ❤
I did this a few months ago and loved it, time to recut it again!
Awesome tutorial! Watched your video twice and then cut my hair in 5 mins. I have thin baby fine hair so layers make it look fuller. 🎉
I did it to my hair and I love the result, thanks ❤
I tried it and it turned out great! Thank you bc I prefer to do it myself.
Ive done a few long layer tutorial hacks... none are quite as entertaining and clear as yours. Just dyed my hair vivid magenta violet balyage, and about to have some snazzy long layers to go with it!! Thank yooou!
Love this hair cutting hack. ❤ Keep doing what you're doing, beautiful! 👏
Wanting to try this technique this weekend! Thanks for this video!
Did it on 2 of my sisters. Both of them love it. Easiest laser haircut process with great results
Just did it and it turned out great! Thanks! ❤
Thank you sooo much for making this video! I’m never happy when I go to a salon…I cut my hair this morning and I’m thrilled, your video made it so easy!! Love my long layers and face framing fringe💜
Easy to watch and follow! Tried it and I have to say I’m super happy with how it turned out! Definitely gonna be cutting my own hair at home from now on. Love the voluminous look and still keep my length! Thank you so much for this diy!
👏🏼👏🏼 Love the results!! Watched your video twice and my hair looks great!!
This was great and so easy. I had looooong straight hair all one length so it was scary when i made the first cut! Looked like I was out of my mind. But the end result is super cute and exactly what I've been wanting. fee;s great, looks great. Thank you so much!
I have been searching for a DYI tutorial that makes sense and actually shows it in the video. Thank you. 2 thumbs up ❤
Amazing, I followed the steps and for my surprise it worked. BTW I chopped my hair for the first time Thank you
I did it! My hair looks great! Thank you so much 🫶🏼
I found your video to be easier to follow than some professional hair cutters! Thanks and good job!
Thanks for the tutorial. It is quite easy and helpful. Your hair looks so beautiful. Love the layers! Great job!❤
Doing this right now! ♡♡ I used to get my hair cut at the salon like every 8 weeks, I got the jennifer Anniston in the early 00's pixie cuts, diagonal wedge etc. So i watched my hair get cut a lot, and started cutting my friend's hair and then my own, now having youtube videos to follow makes it even easier! ❤
Just followed this! Turned out awesome!!!! Thank you
Thank you so much! This is perfect ❤ I feel the same way about my hair. I’m going to try this out and see how it goes!
I did this with my hair! Love it thanks girlie
Cut my hair after watching a few tutorials and ultimately decided on following your tutorial, it came out great! I went a little shorter for the front fringe per my personal preference lol, thanks for a great tutorial 💗 saved me a lot of money!
Thank goodness ❤ Love the new layers and work like a charm in less than 15 mins. Thank you!
As a hairdresser 💇♀️ of 20+ years I say awesome 👏 girl two 👍 👍 🥰
exactly the video I needed for the cut I wanted. It was easy to follow and I loved the way my hair came out. thank you!
i tried this ans it worked perfectly ivee beeen using it ever since
Thanks for this video! It is indeed very helpful! Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. I am very pleased with my haircut and felt good that I've taken so much weight off my head and still looking stylish!
I am so glad i found your video! I have long hair almost too my waist and its time for my layers and i dread going to a salon because i feel like A. I leave seeing no difference other than my bank account has less money or B. they end up taking too much off my length.
Love it! Did it! Perfected it. Thank you.
IT LOOKS GORGEOUS!
This the best tutorial I’ve ever seen I already done this and finished effect is the BEST!
Always wanted my hair like that but go to a salon and they never know what I'm talking about. It looks great will try ❤
This was the most straightforward instructional video for layers. Thank you so much! You just saved me $100!
I did it! I didn’t think I could, but I took it slow and I didn’t cut a lot off this first time. I’ll try again in a few weeks and cut more for more layers. What I did looks great, though! A fresh cut…even perimeter…yay! Thank you for this🥰.
I have curly hair but I prefer to wear it straight and I really wanted layers so I followed your tutorial and I am sooo happy with how it came out, thank you
I would love to do this but I first have to work through the trauma of cutting my own bangs when I was in elementary school. Lolol. I am impressed! Your hair looks beautiful!
Just cut my hair following your tutorial! It looks great and feels so freshhhh 🧡 thanks for the video! 🥰
I just tried the cut on myself at home and I love it! Thank you so much
you look so GORGEOUS omg!! could you pleaseee make a video teaching how do you style your hair?
Tried the tutorial and it turned to be very beautiful. Happy with the results. All the ladies out there who are nervous, please do straighten your hair for clarity while cutting.
Tried it. It came out great. Thank you for and easy to follow video
Really loved this hairstyle on you. I'm definitely gonna try this.
Wow that’s the easiest layered cut I’ve done and i LOVE it! I have wavy thick hair. I did it on dry and styled hair
Love this! ❤ I’ve been wanting something like this with my long thick hair😩
This was so helpful and I was able to follow along as you did each section
Looks great! You did an excellent job! 💗
I love how you just cut your own hair, and love the style as well!
It works !! thank you i love my hair now
I just did this to my hair yesterday. I love it.
I cut my hair with this tutorial and it just turned out perfect, thank you so much!! 😭💗🫶🏽
Beautiful tutorial! I however messed up and am going to a salon for a BIG fix 😂

i’ve also messed up badly and now i’ve got short choppy hair😅
Soooo cute! I've been watching videos to help me make a decision, & I think yours just convinced me! My hair is long & pretty fine... so much so that it's hard to see the real length unless I reach back & pull it down. I'm also older (66). I wore my hair really short from after HS until when I was about to turn 60.. figured it was my last shot to grow it out lol. But I'm wanting to change it up a bit and keep most the length. I think I'm ready now! Thanks 😊
It works! I’m happy with the results, thank you!
Love this video! Thank you for sharing, I’m totally going to try this! You made it seem so simple and easy. 🎉
Just saw your video and did the cut. Was super easy and cleaned up my clunky layers.
I got waistline length hair, it's thinning coz it keeps on falling. I grew tired of it so I look for a tutorial that is easy to follow. Thank heavens I came across this vid. So happy with the result, my hair feels lighter. Will definitely do this again. Thanks a bunch!😊❤
Thank you for sharing!!! It turned out better than going to the salon. 😊
Just got done trying this, it was not hard at all! And for anyone that was wondering how long you need to do this, i finished in 30 minutes. I will say though, i dont style my hair so i just cut it and called it but it layed SO BEAUTIFULLY AS IS. quick, easy perfect! ❤

Yes! It was quick for me too! I could have spent more time shearing and detailing but just the basics I was super happy! I didn’t have much time I have a puppy in training and she did so well in the crate but I felt the pressure of keeping her in too long lol it took me about 30 mins too!! I have a LOT of hair
